Collectibles Guide
By staticsnake
This guide is about finding all the things for unlockables, like collectibles that pass to the next playthrough. This is not necessarily about all achievements. It won’t go over things like hidden cutscenes. I wanted this guide merely for easy use during subsequent playthroughs on other difficulties to unlock things. So this is for you if you want an easy guide for all collectibles to lazily follow as you play through.

Though this guide likely will get you achievements for the Tsuchinoko, all weapons, all camo's, all face paints, etc. But again this does not have cutscenes or other one time achievement things. This is focused on earning playable unlockables like face paints, camo's weapons, and special items for repeat playthroughs.

Some of this guide may differ slightly depending on what difficulty you are on or how you decide to play.

Credit to PowerPyx [www.powerpyx.com]for most of this info, but I have modified it a lot for my own desires, where I felt I had better info, or wanted it to fit here a bit differently.

Introduction
Pretty sure you need to select "I like MGS3" at least once in a difficulty playthrough to ensure you do get everything. Note that some excess items discussed as FYI's (not bullet points) may vary slightly on harder difficulties, or not be there at all.

Remember to eat or dispose of food regularly to make room for picking up new ones.

It’s enough to have collected everything in your inventory. If you eat or dispose of things after having caught them, you are good to go, with the EXCEPTION of the Tsuchinoko. For that, you MUST keep it alive in your inventory through to the end of the game, including re-acquiring it after the waterfall Eva scene. Use the Directional Mic if you are unsure if a Kerotan is making a noise. Acquired/earned items that carry over from one game to the next game stay within that difficulty mode. Bosses mostly need to be killed non-lethally to obtain their camo. Volgin and The Boss specifically drop their camo next to them and you only have a brief moment to grab them.

There are two ways to unlock the stealth camo - you can either play through the game without recording a single alert, or you can shoot all 64 Kerotan (the little green frogs). The Kerotan are noted in this guide.

While you cannot kill the bosses, because you need to non-lethal them for their various camo’s, I don’t believe a no-kill run gives any collectible award outside of an achievement or specific codename at the end. So if you are not worried about the achievement on this playthrough, then go nuts. Just don’t kill the bosses.
~~~Virtuous Mission~~~
The following sections are for doing during the Virtuous Mission specifically.
Dremuchij South
  • Weapon (Survival Knife) – Automatically obtained story weapon. You start with this weapon.
  • Face Paint (Mask) – Automatically obtained story face paint. You start with this.
  • Weapon (Mk22) – Automatically obtained story weapon. Acquired after collecting your backpack.
  • Weapon (EZ Gun) – If starting a new game on Very Easy only, you get this after collecting your backpack. Otherwise, it is unlocked at the end of the game after earning the markhor codename for collecting all 48 animals and plants (listed in this guide).
  • Kerotan #1 – After getting your backpack. Go back under the log to where you started in the area, take the east slope up to the top of the ridge. When facing the tree that had your backpack, look to your left to see this on a rock, it might be behind a tree next to you.
  • Snake G (Giant Anaconda) – Moving around throughout this area. I usually find it past the backpack tree off the grass just before proceeding to the next area.
  • Snake H (Reticulated Python) – Numerous of them moving around throughout this area. One in the grass to the right of the log you crawl under (while facing away from the backpack tree). If you go back under the log to where you started in the area, take the west direction over the fallen log into the dead-end area with the tranq bullets, and there's two in there.
  • Mushroom A (Russian Oyster Mushroom) – On a tree stump to the left of where you started.
  • Mushroom C (Siberian Ink Cap) – Where you started, at the base of either tree on the right or left just before the log you crawl under to go get your backpack.
  • Frog B (Tree Frog) – Hopping around in a patch of grass to the right of the log you crawl under, near one of the spots for Mushroom C. It's bright green.
  • Fruit B (Russian False Mango) – Hanging way up above on a tree to the left of the one where you collected your backpack.
Dremuchij Swampland
  • Indian Gavial – Crocodiles found in the swamp area, kill one with the knife to collect its meat. Best to crouch perpendicular to one on its side and not get too close. It'll take a lot of knife to kill it.
  • Hornet’s Nest – Hanging in a tree in the center of the island in the middle of the muddy swamp right after you enter this area.
  • Bird D (Magpie) – If you want, there's usually 1 or 2 of these that sits on a branch right next to or above where the Hornet's Nest is on the center island. They come and go, so you may have to sit and wait quietly for a few seconds and one will fly onto the branch and you can shoot it before it flies away again. They are dark, almost black. There will be other opportunities for this bird too.
  • Kerotan #2 – After the muddy swamp, when you're back on land, stand in the 2nd patch of grass that you come to, just before a set of trees that are in the middle of the area in front of you, look to the right between trees off the walkable path to see this on a rock (or the risen part of land you aren't allowed to go on to). It blends in with the green very well.
There also may be a MK22 suppressor on the patch of land on the left side of the muddy swamp, left of the exit of the mud, opposite of where you entered the area. Before you move on to the Kerotan.
Dremuchij North
You will encounter the first guards in the game here.
  • Weapon (SVD) – As soon as you enter the area there is a path on the right leading to the weapon at the end.
  • Fruit C (Golova) – This is hanging off a tree to the right of the first patrolling guard ahead of you when you enter this area. It's way back where the guard was at first, after the first clearing, in the narrow space heading to the fork between paths. It's up very high and a bit blended in with the leaves.
  • Bird E (Sunda Whistling-Thrush) – In the patch of grass on the ground by the above fruit between the trees, can be difficult to see and shoot from a distance. If you went over there for the fruit first, you'll have to go away and wait for it to return. Try the binoculars to see if it's in the grass. There's usually two, one closer to you, and one farther away but it eventually comes near the left edge of the grass where you can see it. It's darker, seemingly black. Don't worry, you can also get this later in Rassvet if you want. It's likely easier there too.
  • Fruit A (Yabloko Moloko) – Go directly north from where you entered the area to the very end, past fruit C. You will see these bronze colored fruit hanging from a tree above. Essentially above where the 2nd guard is patrolling in circles. They're more brown.
  • Weapon (Grenade) – In a tree stump in the northern part of the area, directly ahead from where you enter. Also found in many other locations and from shaking down guards.
  • Weapon (Stun Grenade) – To the right of where you find Fruit C and Bird E, down the other path from the fork in the paths, opposite side from the climbable tree, there is a fallen log and a tree stump, it’s behind these. Also found in many other locations and from shaking down guards.
  • Bird D (Magpie) – If you didn't grab this in Dremuchij Swampland, then from facing the north exit, go right and down to an area with a large patch of grass by a log.
  • Kerotan #3 – Just past the patch of grass where Bird D was. This is in the far right area just before the northern exit. You will see a log next to a tree stump, this is on top of the stump. It's best to face south to see it.
Dolinovodno
  • Hornet’s Nest – If you didn't get this in Dremuchij Swampland beforehand, then as soon as you enter the area look directly ahead to see a guard stood by the bridge, way above him and slightly to the right will be a hornet’s nest in a tree, shoot it while the guard is near the bridge entrance to scare the guard away and collect it.
  • Kerotan #4 – Just before crossing the bridge, find this on top of the left bridge support.
  • Weapon (XM16E1) – After crossing the bridge, follow the path around to the left and under the bridge to find this in an alcove. You can also hang, drop, and catch yourself on a branch under the end of the bridge to this area below.
Rassvet
All of these can be gotten before or after the cutscene. It's probably easier after.
  • Kerotan #5 – From entering the area, go directly north in to the first partially destroyed building to see a hole to the left of the staircase, under the floor that it leads to, look through the hole to see it.
  • Weapon (M37) – Turn around from shooting the above kerotan and you’ll see this right behind some crates ahead of you.
  • Rat – Go under the main building where you meet Sokolov, there is a crawl space on the west side near a steup up into the broken building, or theres a crawl space near the fron, or there is a crawl space by some crates around the back of the building. You can find rats here under the building.
  • Bird E (Sunda Whistling-Thrush) – If you didn't get this in Dremuchij North, then climb the ladder around back to the roof of the main building, and don't move. You should see two of them for easy shooting.
There may be a suppressor for the XM16E1 at the top of the stairs above the Kerotan hole, behind the barrel.
After the cutscene, you can get a mousetrap off Ocelot if you pick him up and drop him. No idea why.
~~~Snake Eater Mission~~~
The following sections are for doing during the Snake Eater Mission specifically.
Dremuchij East
  • Weapon (M1911A1) – Automatically obtained story weapon. You start with this weapon.
  • Kerotan #6 – Shortly after you start, move forward to a larger area with patches of grass and trees, to your left you will see some stumps and logs that form what looks like a small shelter up against the left side ridge, you will find it in here. It's under and in them all. You almost need to go past it slightly and look down and under them.
  • Medicinal Plant (C Med) – Turn around from where you shot the kerotan, go directly forwards to find this plant between two patches of grass against a wall. It's to the right before the path leading to the next area.
  • Medicinal Plant (Disinfect) – Just a little south directly from the C Med plant is another plant at the base of a thin tree near a log. It's actually more in the center of the area. It's a thin shrub.
  • Japanese Flying Squirrel – In the middle of this area, look at the trees, every so often a flying squirrel will glide between and climb up the trees here. Check each tree and keep an eye out for it gliding between them. I find it most often on the large tree on the left just after entering the area next to the large fallen log, or it might fly from the north down on to the grass on the ground just south of that tree.
Dremuchij North
The following Snake F is right in front of you about when you hear a horse.
  • Snake F (Green Tree Python) – After dropping down the ledge, just ahead of you hanging off of a tree in plain sight. Make sure to not go past as you will trigger a cutscene and lose your weapon and will have to come back to get this after you meet EVA in Rassvet. You can also get this in other areas such as during the fight with The Boss at the end of the game.
Important: From this point, if you didn’t start on very easy and therefore don’t have the EZ Gun, you won’t have any weapons until you meet EVA in Rassvet, so you can’t get some of the below collectibles. I'd recommend in that case, you hold off until you meet EVA and have some guns, then return to this area (and this point in the guide) and follow on from here to get what you missed.

However, if you do have the EZ Gun, then disregard this and proceed.

Also FYI that soon after the cutscene, a CAUTION begins. If you immediately exit to the area south, and then return here, the CAUTION will go away and the guards will just be patrolling as normal.

  • Snake A (King Cobra) – Following the cutscene with The Boss, go directly ahead to find this snake in the first patch of grass you come across, the two guards are coming from this direction right after the cutscene here. If you're returning here after having gotten guns from EVA, then at the large clearing in the south part of the area, where The Boss disarmed Snake, face north towards the next areas, in the narrow space heading to the fork between paths, the first patch of grass here just before the fork, the snake is usually to the right in the grass next to the base of the tree.
  • Kerotan #7 – Go right after collecting Snake A to see a tree on the left you can climb, at the top, turn around and look just to the right to find this on the rocky area.
After collecting everything here, take a detour and go backwards to Dremuchij Swampland.
Dremuchij Swampland
  • Kerotan #8 – Go all the way to that muddy swamp with the island in the middle. Go right onto the right hand side patch of land upon entering the swamp, you will find this behind a few trees on the right.
Now backtrack to Dremuchij South.
Dremuchij South
Remember, this is where the Virtuous Mission began, where Snake had to get his backpack, like a good school boy.
  • Medicinal Plant (Splint) – Just before the log you crawl under after entering the area, at the base of a tree on the left, just south of the tree Snake's backpack was on during the Virtuous Mission. This is a tall thin plant.
  • Markhor – Right where you started this area in the Virtuous Mission, after moving under the log. One of these can also be found in the northern part of Sokrovenno North later in the game.
  • Kerotan #9 – After going under the log, look right, it’s beyond a tree stump and a log which have two Mushroom A’s on them. Stand on the log and look ahead and slightly up, you should easily be able to see this on the far end on a rocky area.
  • Medicinal Plant (Styptic) – Hop over the log in to the area where the Kerotan was, it’s at the base of some trees in the back right of this area.
  • Chaff Grenade – Same little area as the above Styptic Plant. This is easily found all over the game though.
There's also some Grenades and Stun Grenades on the other side just past where the Markhor was. There's another C Med plant at the base of the right side tree on your way out of here.

Now go back through Dremuchij Swampland to return to Dremuchij North and then take the northern exit to Dolinovodno to proceed.

Dolinovodno
  • Kerotan #10 – After crossing the bridge, look to your right. The kerotan is on a rocky ledge above the patch of grass, near the cliff.
  • Camo (Raindrop) – After crossing the bridge, take the path to the left and around to find this in the alcove under the bridge. Again, you can also drop down from the bridge and catch on the branch if you want.
  • Weapon (Smoke Grenade) – By the above camo. Also found in many other locations and from shaking down guards.
Rassvet
If you are going for no alerts and/or no kills, I recommend saving after the cutscene, when the soldiers are looking for you. Just in case something goes wrong.
  • Mine Detector – Before you go into the room to meet EVA, it's to the right in a corner just before the door to that room. I don't recall if you can also grab it after the cutscene.
  • Weapon (Mk22) – Automatically obtained story weapon. Given to you by EVA.
  • Face Paint (Zombie) – Around the back of the building where you meet EVA, behind some barrels. You can get this before or after meeting EVA.
  • Thermal Goggles – In the locker in the room where you meet EVA in (and previously met Sokolov in). Because you don't meet EVA until you enter and then leave this room, you can grab it before meeting EVA by grabbing it before exiting the room at night. Or you can grab it after the cutscenes.
  • Weapon (AK-47) – In the first partially destroyed building directly ahead after entering the area, at the top of the stairs.
  • Weapon (Magazine) – You can do this at any time but might as well do it now with a gun you're unlikely to use in an area with no guards. Fire an entire clip of the AK you just received until Snake reloads it to get a throwable magazine in your inventory. There's nothing to pick up, just check your weapon inventory for a Magazine to confirm.
  • Kerotan #11 – Under the stairs from where you found the AK-47, behind the used cylinders.
There's also some Smoke Grenades in the northern center part of this area in a corner behind some boxes. North of the Kerotan. Near that, you can also find Cardboard Box A in the north part of the destroyed building in the middle of the open room. Use the Y (or Triangle) action button to climb up on the boxes to the get the C Box A.

Important: If you didn’t start on very easy and therefore don’t have the EZ Gun, you won’t have any weapons until you met EVA here in Rassvet, so you couldn’t get some of the above collectibles since Dremuchij North in the Snake Eater Mission. After you have a weapon obtained from EVA, return to Dremuchij North, and go back to the Snake Eater Mission section for Dremuchij North above and follow the guide until you get back here again to grab everything you missed.

Chyornyj Prud
Recommend saving here. Remember that if a crocodile gets you from behind, you are dead. Be careful.
  • Snake D (Coral Snake) – Upon entering the area you can find this moving around the area just before the water. This looks almost identical to Snake E.
  • Snake E (Milk Snake) – Upon entering the area you can find this moving around the area just before the water. This looks almost identical to Snake D.
  • Weapon (WP Grenade) – On the left side at the start of the area, in some shallow water at the shore. Also found in many other locations and from shaking down guards.
  • Frog A (Otton Frog) – Swimming around in the shallow water near the shore.
  • Frog C (Poison Dart Frog) – In the same general area as Frog A. More colorful.
  • Fish C (Arowana) – In the central and west side of the area, in the deeper water. Remember you can shoot guns underwater.
  • Kerotan #12 – To left of the northern exit which has the tripwire trap, there is a tree with a rope on it leading to an item, it’s underwater at the base of this tree.
  • Croc Cap – That item referenced by Kerotan #12 is a Crocodile Cap. You gotta go far left or west in the water, about midway through the area, swim under some fallen logs, and come out in a north-western area separated from the rest. On the map, it's the separated section on the left, swim in via the thin south part of it on the map. Watch out as there's some traps here like a hole trap. First make sure you have full stamina, you're gonna need it. Climb the tree in the right of this area (next to the water). Then go along the rope out over the water until the other crossing rope is directly below you (look down), then drop and catch yourself on that rope. Then go up along that rope onto a section of land otherwise unreachable. Drop on that land and you'll find the Croc Cap. It's above where the Kerotan was in the water.
  • Camo (GA-KO) – To the far right of the main northern exit (where the tripwire trap was), in some shallow water. It's basically the northeast of the area. Thermal Goggles can help spot this.
  • Weapon (Chaff Grenade) – By the above camo. Thermal Goggles can help spot this. Also found in many other locations and from shaking down guards.
There are Stun Grenades and M1911A1 bullets on top of the water just south of the Kerotan next to the left or west side ridge wall where the Croc Cap is up above on the land.

There are also Grenades and Mk22 bullets in the shallow water as you come up from swimming under the west side log on your way to the Croc Cap tree.

Once done in this area, don't forget to burn leeches off with the Cigar in the CURE menu.
Bolshaya Past South
  • Weapon (Claymore) – After passing the first fence equip your Thermal Goggles, near the 2nd fence you will see many claymores, approach one from behind while crawling to collect it. Also found in some other locations.
  • Camo (Splitter) – After getting past the 3rd electric fence with the guard dog nearby, take the path on the right to come to a swampy area. Climb up on the ledge on the right side of this area to find the camo at the end of the path.
  • Kerotan – #13 – Right after the above camo, to the right of the guard in front of the fence are a few trees, the kerotan is hidden in the middle of them.
  • Camo (Choco Chip) – Once you’ve gone through the above mentioned fence, on the left side is a tree stump with the camo inside.
  • TSUCHINOKO – SUPER IMPORTANT! See notes on the next area Bolshaya Past Base for this. Return to these instructions after acquiring the mousetraps in the next area. On the eastern side (your right side the first time you came here, your left side upon returning to this area from Bolshaya Past Base) are two swampy/muddy pools of water with a guard that patrols near them (this is near where the Splitter Camo was). Place a mousetrap between the two pools, on the thin bridge of land between them. Exit the area and wait a while (recommend saving here). Re-enter Bolshaya Past South and you should hear an item-like noise upon re-entry, signifying that the mousetrap caught something. If you don’t hear a noise, exit and re-enter until you do. If you heard a noise, go to where your mousetrap was, and it should be an animal cage to pick up. It should be the Tsuchinoko. This snake MUST be caught and kept ALIVE for the entire game. DO NOT EAT OR DISPOSE OF THIS ANIMAL! You must keep it in a cage alive all the way through the entire game. You will also have to re-acquire it later after the waterfall EVA scene (Tikhogornyj). This guide will remind you of that.
Bolshaya Past Base
  • Face Paint (Snow) – As soon as you enter the area, in the trenches on the west side, under a wooden board.
  • Camo (Water) – On the roof of the main building in the centre of the area, in the top left corner.
  • Kerotan #14 – Inside the above mentioned building, under a desk/chair.
  • Weapon (Mousetrap) – There are 2 mousetraps here, one is in the central building under a bed, and another in the food storage hut just outside of this building on the north side. MAKE SURE TO GRAB THESE FOR THE TSUCHINOKO referenced in the prior area!
  • Weapon (TNT) – In the ammo storage building in the northwest corner of the area. Also found in some other locations. You can blow up the building and the helicopter outside and it’ll cause things to be a tad easier later on in the game.
There's some Mk22 bullets and an M1911A1 suppressor in the room with the Kerotan. There's some items in all of the other small buildings as well.

Important: Before proceeding, it’s time to grab the Tsuchinoko now that you have mousetraps. The best place is to backtrack to Bolshaya Past South, see that section above for instructions.

WARNING: As soon as you proceed to the next area Bolshaya Past Crevice, there is no returning to prior areas. Be sure you're done with the previous areas.

Bolshaya Past Crevice
  • Kerotan #15 – Once you start the fight with Ocelot, turn around and go to the back left of the area, look across the crevice to find this at the base of a tree on the other side. You must get this before the end of the fight, also make sure to defeat him by depleting his stamina just like all bosses. DO NOT KILL BOSSES because you need their items.
Chyornaya Peschera Cave Branch
  • Camo (Animals) – As soon as you start, use the Thermal Goggles to find this right next to you on a large flat rock, it’s the reward for defeating Ocelot by depleting his stamina.
  • Kenyan Mangrove Crab – In the same area, you will see several of these using the Thermal Goggles.
  • Weapon (Torch) – To find the Torch, from the starting area equip the Cigar, which provides a small amount of light and take the exit on the right, stick to the left wall and you’ll head down a hall until you eventually come across 2 waterfalls somewhat on the right, there is a small opening between them housing the Torch.
  • Mushroom E (Russian Glow Cap) – Right by where you found the Torch.
  • Vampire Bat – Opposite the water where you found the Torch, there is a small opening in the wall leading up to another cavern and a crawl space, careful not to fall off the left side, go on through to come to a room with bats on the ceiling. There's also some serum and Med's in here.
  • Kerotan #16 – Go through the other crawl space in the vampire bat room which leads to a room with a hole in the middle, it is just past and above the hole. Also grab the NVGs here. Don't fall in the hole, it's just a Russian Ration and not worth it.
Ise the NVG's now if you prefer. Now you will want to backtrack back through the crawl space, through the bat cave, through the next crawl space. You can drop off that ledge I warned you not to drop off (it's now on your right). You'll find another glowcap and a battery. Could be useful.

Head down and drop into the water (there's bullets at the bottom of the water if you want them), cross to the other side, exit the water and up the hall. You are back to where you first started and picked up the Animals camo. Go into the next room again like when you first started.

  • Snake B (Taiwanese Cobra) – In this room, there's a left path to where you had foynd the torch, there's a crwaldpace in the middle, and a right side path. Go down the path to the right of the crawlspace to find the snake by a skeleton.
Return to that middle crawlspace and go through it. Come out on top of the waterfall above where the Torch was found, stay to the right and go down that path. There's another skeleton and some more items. Keep going until you enter the next area.
Chyornaya Peschera Cave
  • Weapon (M37) – Take the right path as soon as you enter the area to find this with a skeleton, some other items and animals.
  • Camo (Snow) – Use the crawl space after grabbing the M37 to find this at the end of the path.
Take the next very long crawlspace and when you exit it, there's an area you'll have missed to the left if you wanna look, but to continue forward, go right after the crawlspace above.
  • Kerotan #17 – You can shoot this before, during or after The Pain fight. It’s above the platform he is on, on top of the giant open hole in the ceiling way up above.
  • Camo (Hornet Stripe) – Awarded for defeating The Pain by depleting his stamina. There's some items in the water during the fight. IMPORTANT! After the battle it’s on the platform where he was, take the path to the right of the exit, go up, and jump/roll across onto where The Pain was to reach it.
After the fight, if you return to the cave opening back where you entered the area, where the cutscene began the fight before Snake got to the water, there's a Life Med to the side of the opening. There's also a lot of fish in case you missed one or need food.

Also, if you go up that side path described above for grabbing The Pain's Hornet Stripe camo, instead of rolling onto his island, just keep going around the wall and there will be a drop-down path that drops you where the Snow Camo was.

Once you're done with the caves, proceed through the north opening on the far north side of the lake you fought The Pain in.
Chyornaya Peschera Cave Entrance
WARNING: There's a drop-down point of no return right at the beginning here. Be sure you're done with the previous cave stuff.
  • Russian False Mango – Work your way through the cave, after the short cutscene, in a slight open clearing, these large fruits will be on the ground and easily obtained. You likely already obtained this though previously.
  • Kerotan #18 – Continue on and you will eventually come to a large open area with a small opening on the left, equip the Thermal Goggles, go in here and beware of the claymores, turn around and look up to find it. For some fun, you can instead chuck a Stun Grenade in here before entering. All the bats will fall and the Claymores will go off. It’s pretty silly.
Don't fall in the holes as you leave this area.
Ponizovje South
Watch out for flying guards here.
  • Kerotan #19 – As soon as you enter the area go forward a little, you should clearly see this just ahead on the rocks to your left.
  • Fish B (Maroon Shark) – Swimming around in front of you as soon as you enter the area.
  • Fish A (Bigeye Trevally) – A smaller fish swimming around in front of you as soon as you enter the area.
Take the somewhat hidden left exit at the end of the area first.
Ponizovje West
  • Kerotan #20 – To the left of the pier, underwater behind some bars.
  • Cobalt Blue Tarantula – Crawling on the ground just northwest of where the Kerotan was. You can also get this in Ponizovje Warehouse Docks, which is next.
  • Weapon (SVD) – In the weapon storage building in the back.
In the bottom of the water in the southwest area is an M1911A1 suppressor. There's also items in the boats, and crawling under the small overhang next to the short set of stairs on the west side. There's an Mk22 suppressor in the northwest corner past where the Tarantula was, behind the boxes in the corner.

Now backtrack to the previous area and take a left to use the other exit this time and proceed with the story.

Ponizovje Warehouse Docks
  • Kerotan #21 – Upon entering the area look to your far left, it’s on top of a red floodgate.
  • Cobalt Blue Tarantula – If you didn't get this previously, check on the wall near the big red door that The End went through after the cutscene.
There's an M1911A1 suppressor underwater near the right side dock guard (direction based upon when you first enter) and some bullets. There's also M37 bullets farther right, and SVD bullets near the Kerotan underwater.
Ponizovje Warehouse
There's some CURE items immediately left after entering the big room via the doorway, behind the crate and next to the railing, and down on the 1st floor.
  • Face Paint (Desert) – On the bottom left, behind a crate near the big red doors in the back.
  • Kerotan #22 – Turn around and look up at the ceiling, you will see this on one of the stone beams way up top.
There's some more on the 2nd floor landing, then over that railing you can drop on top of 1st floor crates for a Mk22 suppressor. There's a door to a storage room on the 2nd floor.
Graniny Gorki South
Watch out for traps in this area. The Thermal Goggles may help with some of this.
  • Mushroom D (Fly Agaric) – Once you drop down, go straight ahead to find a few of these at the base of a tree.
  • Weapon (Book) – Left of where you found Mushroom D, past a log and close to a tripwire trap. Also found in some other locations. There's another one far left from the northern exit, past the hanging dead body stuck to a trap.
  • European Rabbit – You can find rabbits here hopping around the area. I usually find one going the opposite direction you went for the book. In the grass kind of in the middle of the area. There's also one near that same far left of the northern exit described for the book above.
  • Kerotan #23 – When you hop up the ledge to leave this area, look up to your left and slightly behind to find this on a tree branch. If you got caught in the trap here, it's right next to you.
You may find a Japanese Squirrel climbing on trees here if you missed it earlier (I've seen one on a tree between Mushroom D and the Book locations described above) and some other birds, but ideally you've already gotten them.
Graniny Gorki Exterior: Outside Walls
Watch out for a dog in this area.
  • Bird C (Red Avadavat) – In the grass ahead right as you enter this area, it’s very small (like as small as the frogs), so use your Thermal Goggles to see it. It may be to the right side of the grass patch.
  • Kerotan #24 – Crawl under the left side of the fence, move forward a bit and look to your left to find it in between two elevated trees.
Use the crawl space to the right of this Kerotan hidden among some grass. Just past the crawl space, past the grass before you move on, should be an M1911A1 suppressor.
Graniny Gorki Exterior: Inside Walls
There's some bullets under the right side truck upon entering.
  • Kerotan #25 – Past the trucks, on the opposite side of the area from the crawl space you entered through. In the window of the building with the red, boarded up door.
  • Weapon (XM16E1) – In a storage building to the left of the above Kerotan. The far right side of the building.
Now go back to where you entered this area and go along the left side of the lab, you will see a crawl space in the grass about 3/4 of the way down that wall to enter the lab, go through here. Before that, there's some items all the way down that far left side of the building if you want them. Past that grass.
Graniny Gorki Lab 1F
  • Face Paint (Oyama) – As soon as you enter, first go left to find this, and then go the other direction through the vents.
You should exit the vents into a small outside yard with a door across from you.

Now, for this area of the game, for the most part you're going to want to take off any face paint and put on your Scientist outfit. Don't disturb any guards, but they should leave you alone with no face paint and a scientist outfit on. Don't let any other scientists get a look at you (a cardboard box works great to get past scientists, but not guards). However, you'll have to temporarily change out of the scientist outfit to shoot any Kerotan. If you do, do it quickly and then put it back on.

  • Kerotan #26 – Now go through that previously mentioned door (exiting the yard), to the left are some stairs, but look to the right down the hall, you will see this on top of some lockers.
There are some M1911A1 bullets in the 3rd locker. Take those stairs and go down from here.
Graniny Gorki Lab B1 East
There are some items in the office here if you want them.
  • Kerotan #27 – In the last prison cell on the right. You should be able to punch it.
Go back up the stairs.
Graniny Gorki Lab 1F (again)
  • Camo (Fly) – Continue going up the stairs after reentering this area and you should be on the 2nd floor. Go right then forwards in to the 2nd door at the end to enter the bathroom. It’s in the 3rd cubicle, you need to punch the door down.
Past the bathroom and around the corner are lockers. The last 2 have various bullets. Heading back, the other room has an Mk22 suppressor. Go back to the main area and drop down over the railing to the 1st floor (careful about being spotted doing this), then go down the stairs here. They are different from the previous stairs you've been on.
Graniny Gorki Lab B1 West
  • Weapon (Cig gas-spray) – After entering the area go right, this is in the small office here.
  • Weapon (Knock-out handkerchief) – In the room opposite the above mentioned office, in a locker. Remember that other scientists can tell you are not a scientist. Do this when the scientist is looking away, or knock him out.
  • Kerotan #28 – Right by the lockers in the same room. This one can also be punched.
Also remember you can just run past the scientists in a cardboard box (but NOT guards). Should help with getting in and out of the next room for the story bit. That room with the scientists cubicles has an XM16E1 suppressor in the right far back one (upon entering) if you want it.

After that story part, exit with the box and the scientist outfit all the way back to Graniny Gorki South for a boss fight.

If you want a more detailed exit from that story part, I'd use the box through the scientists until that guardroom, then take it off. Go upstairs, go right at top of the stairs, and through the door on the far side of the room, then left and straight past the guard to the front of the building and out the little door to the left. Outside, that guard should be walking away from you, so turn right, run to the far wall, turn right, and run past the trucks to that crawlspace in the grass. Out there, go left and straight to the hole in the fence, and then head out of the area.
Graniny Gorki South (again)
  • Camo (Spider) – Awarded by defeating The Fear by depleting his stamina. Use the Thermal Goggles to help you during the fight. Watch out for traps. After the fight, the camo should be straight ahead on the ground just after the grass in front of you.
Now you need to backtrack all the way through the warehouse to the beginning of Ponizovje South, where the water began just outside the cave where you fought The Pain.
Ponizovje South (again)
If you want some fun, in this area, some spots have a lot of animals in the water in a small area. Chuck a Stun Grenade. Watch them fly.
  • Face Paint (Water) – A camo will appear in the water at the original beginning of this area, at the entrance to the cave you left where you had fought The Pain. You can only get it at this point in the story so grab it before you proceed.
Now proceed back to Ponizovje Warehouse and go through the previously locked red door requiring the keycard that Granin gave you to proceed with the story.
Svyatogornyj South
  • Kerotan #29 – After entering go fowards, turn around and look up to see this above the doorway.
  • Mushroom F (Spatsa) – At the base of various trees in the area. Thermal Goggles can help.
  • Mushroom G (Baikal Scaly Tooth) – At the base of various trees in the area.
  • Vine Melon – Proceed towards the next slope upwards, you will see a vine above you with a few of these hanging off, use the Thermal Goggles if you are struggling to see them.
Svyatogornyj West
Watch out for some hole traps in this area along with guards.
  • Mushroom B (Ural Luminescent Mushroom) – Take the left path after entering the area, you will come across some logs, tree stumps and a climbable tree, it’s at the base of a few trees here. Use your Thermal Goggles as it’s very small and hard to spot.
  • Kerotan #30 – On a ledge just to the right of the previously mentioned climbable tree.
Make sure to take the rightmost exit out of this area first.
Svyatogornyj East
  • Kerotan #31 – In the back of this area is a cabin, the Kerotan is on a shelf in a room with beds, easy to spot. You could even use the SVD from far away closer to where you came in to shoot it through the window if you want. It doesn't even usually set off a CAUTION. Use the Directional Mic to confirm it went off if you did it this way.
  • Weapon (M63) – In the cabin in the back right room, climb over a crate on the left to find the weapon. There's also a trap door there, so you could enter and/or exit this back room underneath the cabin. Watch for a guard that patrols that room though.
There's a Mk22 suppressor in the same room as the Kerotan. Behind the cabin is a climbable tree to get on the roof if you want. There's also a resource shack somewhat hidden in a corner to the left (northwest) of the cabin.

Head back the way you came in to Svyatogornyj West, then directly north to the next area.
Sokrovenno South (Boss Fight)
In this area you will begin the fight with The End and there are some things to note. You need to capture his parrot, hold him up multiple times to get the Moss camo, and defeat him by depleting his stamina to get the Mosin-Nagant rifle. Make a save here immediately upon entering (after the cutscene) just in case.

In this guide, we're going to take care of all that before any other things that can wait in these areas.

  • Bird A (Parrot) – This green bird will be on a tree stump right in front of Snake when the fight starts (right after the entering cutscene), make sure to collect it before beginning the fight with The End. Shoot the bird before even moving after the cutscene.
  • Camo (Moss) – Awarded for sneaking up on The End and holding him up 3 times. The camo will appear in any of the Sokrovenno areas next to him depending where you hold him up, he will say “I don’t think so”, keep panning the gun back and forth across his head, on the 3rd time you shake him down he should drop the camo next to him. Pick it up immediately. Don't be surprised if he gets up and runs away.

    An easy way to find him is to use the code while on the map screen. Go into the menu, to the map, and enter Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B (Square), A (Triangle). A colored dot should appear for where he is on the map if you are on the same map as he is. Take the slow long way around to sneak up on him from a direction he isn’t looking, even if you have to come behind him from another area. Crawl if you have to. He’s incredibly vigilant. It’s even easier to do it once he’s sleeping (ZZZ’s above his head, though I don't think this occurs until it rains). Click the Left Analog Stick to hold him up.
See the following Sokrovenno North section for the Weapon (Mosin-Nagant) after the fight and cutscene.
Sokrovenno North (Boss Fight)
Now that you have defeated The End, you need to grab his weapon right after the fight and cutscene ends.
  • Weapon (Mosin-Nagant) – Awarded for defeating The End by depleting his stamina. Snake will be in this area automatically after the cutscene when the fight is over. It is found to your left off the ledge and past a tree in a more open area.
Once you've gotten his weapon, return to Sokrovenno South (just go south).
Sokrovenno South (again)
After you have defeated The End and obtained his parrot, Moss camo, and weapon, you should have returned here for the Kerotan. Return to that storage building in the west side of Sokrovenno South.
  • Kerotan #32 – Just behind the weapon storage building on the west side of the area, on a ledge. If you run up the ramp to the building, go past the door and around the right side of the building. It's on a rock just behind it.
Then from that storage building where that Kerotan is behind, take the left exit just north of that building to Sokrovenno West.
Sokrovenno West
You should have entered here from Sokrovenno South. Follow this path from the south into this area, and hug the left wall until you reach a stream of water.
  • Kerotan #33 – This is at the bottom end of the stream, in an opening where the water is flowing. Look south and look down.
Return to Sokrovenno South the same way you came in. Once you re-enter Sokrovenno South, follow the left wall (the north part of that area) and when you see an opening, take this path north to Sokrovenno North.
Sokrovenno North (again)
You should have re-entered here from Sokrovenno South on the west side after having gotten the Kerotan from the south and west areas.
  • Kerotan #34 – Once you enter here follow the right wall and once the path opens a bit, you will come across this hiding behind a tree hugging the right side wall on the ground.
If you are completely done with the Sokrovenno areas, then head to the far back northeast of this area to continue in Krasnogorje Tunnel.
Krasnogorje Tunnel
  • Kerotan #35 – Go towards the ladder down the tunnel, turn around to find this on the ground by the 2nd tunnel light on the right.
Be sure you have gotten everything, because the next area has another point of no return. Plus it's a long way to come back down anyway. Enjoy the singing.
Krasnogorje Mountain Base
  • Snake C (Thai Cobra) – After entering the area, drop down a small ledge (this is a point of no return) proceed forwards and then right in in to the main area, you should see the snake immediately on the ground moving around here. You can also find this inside a small cave in the next area or at the end of the next area.
  • Bird B (Vulture) – On the left side cliff edge throughout this area. Rarely they might not spawn here, if they don’t go to the next area and you should see some on the cliff edges there instead.
  • Emperor Scorpion – In the same general area as the previous two animals, they are quite small so use the Thermal Goggles. There's also usually one in front of the large rock you can crawl under. You can also find them in the next area.
  • Kerotan #36 – Proceed through the area sticking to the left cliffside, at the end you will see this on a cliff just above the exit on the left.
Krasnogorje Mountainside
  • Weapon (RPG-7) – Near the end of the area with the AA guns and 3 small buildings, it’s in the first building on the right.
  • Kerotan #37 – On top of the weapon storage building behind the previously mentioned one.
Krasnogorje Mountaintop
  • Kerotan #38 – Make your way towards the AA gun on the right, face where it is facing and look left to see it.
There's lots to stock up on in the various sheds here if you need it. There's also numerous crawl spaces if you wanna use them. The far right shed near the Kerotan has a crawl space, and you can get pretty far towards the top by hopping from one to the next. Watch out for guards though.
Krasnogorje Mountaintop: Behind Ruins
After meeting EVA, overlooking Groznyj Grad.
  • Kerotan #39 – Once the above cutscene ends, use a sniper rifle to zoom in at the radio tower in front of Snake, it’s just above the numbers 07 on the lower part of the tower. Even though it's far away, I don't think you can confirm this one with the Directional Mic. You'll just have to use your SVD and see it move as you shoot it to confirm.
Krasnogorje Mountaintop Ruins
  • Kerotan #40 – On the shelf above the bed, right before the exit.
There's a Tarantula on the wall upstairs and a Scorpion downstairs near the bed if you missed those previously. There's items under the bed.
Groznyj Grad Underground Tunnel
  • Kerotan #41 – After going down the stairs, proceed through the tunnel until you reach the red guard rails BEFORE the boss fight, look directly ahead with a sniper rifle to see this on a red pipe all the way across the whole area. It's above the red door that is way on the other side of the area. Use your SCOPE or SVD to see it. You can also shoot it during the boss fight but it’s easier to do it before. Do this before defeating The Fury as you cannot get back to this area afterwards.
  • Camo (Fire) – Awarded for defeating The Fury by depleting his stamina. It will be right next to you after the cutscene. Grab it now as going up the ladder ahead is another point of no return.
Groznyj Grad Southwest
  • Kerotan #42 – In the left side of the area are numerous tank storage hangars, this is in the thin gap in the doors of hangar 67, the middle of the leftmost 3 hangars. Look inside on the barrel of the tank.
Now go through the door to the upper left of this hangar. The northwest of the area.
Groznyj Grad Northwest
This area has dogs, so watch out.
  • Kerotan #43 – Run between the middle of the rows of tanks here up north to a fenced off area with the tower and a red gate. Just past the tower, behind the red gate, in an unreachable area, look at the top of the stairs to see it.
Exit the area using the other door close to the one you entered, it's slightly north of where you came in. It's near a truck.

Now you'll be in Groznyj Grad Northeast, but we're going to skip past it to the next area for now. From the door you entered in, follow the right wall past the red gate and door to the end where you will find a crawl space in the right wall just before that end, go through here.

Groznyj Grad Southeast
  • Kerotan #44 – Climb on top of the building with the stairs or ladder to find this in the top right corner. It's like the southeast of the large building.
Cardboard Box C is on the ground behind the building in the skinny gap between the building and wall. No, you did not miss Box B, it comes later in the story.

Now enter this building.

Groznyj Grad Jail / Torture Room
  • Kerotan #45 – Watch out for a guard in there, but go left as soon as you enter and in to the small office to find this under a desk.
You might also find the Camera in this office. None of the cells have anything. As you go to leave, there's a small room with CURE items to the left side of where you entered the building.

Exit the building back to Groznyj Grad Southeast and go behind it in the north east corner near where some boxes are. Theres a hole in the ground you can crawl into. Go into the crawl space, theres only one way that's not a dead end, then you'll come to an intersection where you can head north into the next area.

Groznyj Grad Northeast
You should have entered here via a crawl space from Groznyj Grad Southeast.
  • Kerotan #46 – Proceed forwards a little bit to where a grate is above you and another crawlspace heads left. Down there you should see the Kerotan behind some bars.
To deal with less guards and spotlights, turn around and head back south and exit the crawlspace back the way you came in from. If you do that, you should be back in Groznyj Grad Southeast. Just exit north via the northern red door not far from you. This should put you back in Groznyj Grad Northeast. Just head up and left and into the door to the next part.
Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing
Remember no face paint and the Scientist outfit? That can help here again with the guards. Just don't let other scientists get a good look at you.
  • Weapon (Scorpion) – On the ground floor, this is in a locked room only officers can enter. When you entered this building, if you go left towards the far stairs, it's the 2nd door on the right. This is the front entrance of that room. The easiest way to enter is to stand in front of the door and call codec 145.86 to unlock it (146.95 on hard difficulty, 142.81 on extreme). You can also follow a guard through the door or equip the Officer camo you obtain from Raikov and the Raikov Mask to access the room. The weapon is inside the room against a wall, in between two shelves. Even though this room is locked to officers only, if you get in with the scientist outfit and no face paint, they don't seem to care that you're in here.
  • Kerotan #47 – On the second floor where you drag Raikov, on top of some bookshelves.
  • Camo (Officer) – Automatically obtained story camo. Obtained by knocking out Raikov and dragging him to a locker on the 2nd floor. Just a little while after entering, Raikov seems to be downstairs heading into the library. This was after I went into all the downstairs rooms and then upstairs to the lockers and back. Not sure if he's on a timer, or triggers, or what.
There's a mousetrap, CURE items, Mk22 suppressor, book, and various bullets to be found throughout both floors in all the rooms in this area. Upstairs in the lockers are 2 Russian Rations and an XM16E1 suppressor. If for some reason you wind up with a CAUTION or ALERT (you should not if you're going for no alerts), Raikov can often be found hiding downstairs in the closed bathroom stall.
Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: West Wing Corridor
  • Kerotan #48 – Look directly out of the window to your left as soon you enter to find this on top of a pole with speakers. Knock out the two guards here and shoot it with a sniper rifle. You’ll have to leave and re-enter or wake up the guards after to proceed with the story.
Groznyj Grad Jail / Torture Room (post-Torture)
This occurs after the cutscene getting captured and tortured.
  • Weapon (Single Action Army) – Automatically obtained story weapon. It will be in your inventory once you are in the prison cell.
  • Weapon (Fork) – Right here in the prison where you start.
Pick up the fork and enter the CURE screen to remove the items. If you don't get rid of the transmitter, you're going to have to deal with annoying GRU soldiers later in Tikhogornyj.

Unlock your cell door with codec 144.75 and escape. Be sure to wait until Johnny runs to the bathroom to do this so you aren't spotted. Unless you want to escape some other way.

Escape Groznyj Grad for the story through the hatch in the northern fenced area of Groznyj Grad Northwest.
The Sorrow’s River
Un-named boss fight area after having jumped off the waterfall to escape. This area was inspired by Sanzu-no-kawa, known as the River of Three Crossings.
  • Camo (Spirit) – Move all the way to the end of the river at least once, once you ‘die’ use the revival pill with the left trigger button on the death screen. Don't hit continue. You will automatically be awarded the spirit camo when you meet up with EVA shortly after. Do not die before reaching the end, by drowning yourself or otherwise or you will miss out on the camo.
Tikhogornyj
Hopefully you previously got rid of the transmitter Ocelot put in you during the torture scene. If not, you're gonna have to deal with GRU soldiers here.
  • Kerotan #49 – The kerotan is near you, at the end of the stream where you start. If you picked up some bullets for the SAA along the way you can shoot it now, if not, then you’ll have to come back and shoot it after you meet EVA behind the waterfall and get your gear back.
  • Face Paint (Kabuki) – In the pool of water by the waterfall. This is NOT here until after you first meet with EVA in the next area. You will have to backtrack for this after the cutscene.
  • TSUCHINOKO – SUPER MISSABLE! After the cutscene with EVA in Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall (the next area), you MUST come back to this area before proceeding in the game and re-capture the Tsuchinoko ALIVE! Upon returning to this area from the waterfall, it’s on the left just past the pool of water, past the rock and tree, slithering around on the ground. DO NOT KILL IT! Tranquilize it and capture it alive in a cage again. Be sure to keep it alive in your inventory through to the end of the game.
If you want a laugh and a lot of food, chuck a Stun Grenade in the waterfall pool.
Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall
Important: Before proceeding after the cutscene, go back to Tikhogornyj (above) and follow the Tsuchinoko advice written there to recapture it. Also grab the face paint and backtrack for that Kerotan if you didn’t have bullets for it previously.

There's a Mk22 suppressor in the campfire room, an M1911A1 suppressor on the right down the hall. Some Russian Glowcap's if you want them for fighting Volgin later, or for your batteries, and at the dead end of the hall, past the door, is Cardboard Box B.

  • Kerotan #50 – Follow the corridor to the room with the ladder, it is on a pipe above you, opposite the ladder which is a point of no return.
Remember, this ladder in the room at the end is a point of no return, be sure you handled everything in these areas before going up the ladder.
Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing (2nd Time)
This is your return trip here during daytime. The no face paint and scientist outfit should work again for guards. Watch out for other scientists.
  • Camo (Sneaking Suit) – This is in the same locker with the red stripe that you put Raikov in earlier, in the room on the 2nd floor. Only obtainable this time you come through here.
  • Camo (Maintenance) – In the opposite set of lockers as the above, the 2nd from the left. Only obtainable this time you come through here.
Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing Hangar
Just an FYI if you want some more items. When you gain control of Snake, don't go into the Main Hangar, but instead back out and go left back down the hall into the area where you last saw Sokolov before being captured and tortured. There are some items in that hallway with the windows where the two guards were.

Then return to the Main Hangar.

  • Kerotan #51 – On the left side of the Shagohod, up the stairs on the floor behind a railing between two control panels near where you plant one of the C3 charges on a fuel tank. Your back to the fuel tank, and look at the side of the Shagohod, look slightly down. There’s usually a worker monitoring these panels.
Be sure to accomplish the above BEFORE setting the 4th and final C3, because you will automatically proceed to a cutscene and there is no going back.

After setting your 4th and final C3, and after the cutscene, you MUST do the following during the Volgin boss fight:

  • Kerotan #52 – Once the battle with Volgin starts, in the back left corner of the arena look up to the very top (it’s to the left of Ocelot), it is next to some crates.
  • Camo (Cold War) – Awarded for defeating Volgin by depleting his stamina. IMPORTANT! Make sure to pick it up immediately before the cutscene starts. He will drop it and you’ll have a few brief seconds to grab it.
Groznyj Grad (Motorcycle Chase)
The next several Kerotan are the hardest ones to shoot as they are in chase sequences. You can shoot them with a sniper rifle from distance, or close up with the RPG, M63, or the M37 if you aren’t worried about killing guards.

I recommend equipping the Cold War camo outfit for this as it'll help all the chase guards shoot at you less often. Though I'm pretty sure you have to be facing them so they are looking at the front of the outfit, which is the soviet side. They'll shoot at you more if your back is to them with this camo on.

Save at the beginning of every single area and do not proceed unless you are certain you got the Kerotan (reload your save if you didn’t get it: menu, options, return to title screen).

Remember that the Animal camo outfit steadies your aim and can help a lot if you're having trouble.

Also, for the first few areas where a Kerotan is, don’t do anything to the guards and generally EVA will wait as long as needed, giving you ample time to first shoot the Kerotan, then you can deal with the guards. I prefer to chuck Stun grenades.

  • Kerotan #53 – You have two opportunities to shoot this one. When EVA stops for the first time, it’s in the guard tower ahead. When EVA stops again at the connecting bridge with the nearby tanks, you can see the same guard tower again, on the right.
Groznyj Grad Runway South (Motorcycle Chase)
This one begins after the cutscene where Ocelot has chased you on a motorcycle.
  • Kerotan #54 – When EVA stops for the first time, it’s on a forklift on the left.
Groznyj Grad Runway (Motorcycle Chase)
Remember that the Animals camo can help with aiming. The Cold War camo can reduce the soldiers shooting at you so long as you are facing them.
  • Kerotan #55 – This one has to be shot while EVA is driving and it takes a while before you get to it. It’s after EVA turns left to head down the very long runway. Use your SVD and look on the left of the runway, you can see it on top of a short box/post as you are in view of some planes on the left, it’s immediately past a connecting road, it may take several tries to hit it, if you’re not sure if you hit or not use the directional microphone to listen for the sound. Some use the RPG, but I find it to be inaccurate. I think this is the hardest one for sure, and this one definitely requires the Directional Mic to hear it. With the SVD though, you have the benefit of maybe seeing it move when you shot it.
Groznyj Grad Runway 2nd Area (Motorcycle Chase)
  • Kerotan #56 – This one has to be shot while EVA is driving. Use your SVD and look on the right of the runway as soon as you enter this area to see it on another box/post, it may take several tries to hit it, if you’re not sure if you hit or not use the directional microphone to listen for the sound.
Groznyj Grad Runway Bridge / Boss Fight
  • Kerotan #57 – You start this area facing the bridge. Stand up and look left and down at the bridge support on the bottom left to see this one. Do this BEFORE shooting the C3’s.
  • Kerotan #58 – When fighting Volgin on foot in the 2nd phase of The Boss fight, look at the top of the small building at the base of the radio tower, the kerotan is right here.
Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge North (Motorcycle Chase)
Remember that the Animals camo can help with aiming. The Cold War camo can reduce the soldiers shooting at you so long as you are facing them.
  • Kerotan #59 – EVA will very briefly stop at a blockade just before the next area, it’s in between 2 barriers on the ground, you need to be very fast to shoot it before EVA drives away, and then this area ends right after. It’s a long way winding through the canyon before this one comes up. There's also guards right next to it.
Lazorevo South (Motorcycle Chase)
  • Kerotan #60 – Not long after entering the area you will see this on the ground in front of a large rock slightly to your right. If you are struggling to hit it with the SVD try using the M37 shotgun when close. I actually found the RPG best here.
Equipping the Cold War camo and facing the flying soldiers is kinda funny.
Lazorevo North (Motorcycle Chase)
  • Kerotan #61 – Not long after entering the area you will see this on a rock on the left It’s actually more in front of you, slightly left, and it’s a tall rock. If you are struggling to hit it with the SVD try using the M37 shotgun when close. Again, I preferred the RPG for this one.
Remember you need to face the soldiers for the Cold War camo to work. You'll need to do that when they move to the right.
Zaozyorje West
Once you proceed a little bit with EVA, there will be a cutscene and Caution. Guards will come from behind you in more than one wave. Watch out.
  • Kerotan #62 – Once caution starts and there’s two paths, take the right path, when you come to a log bridge look down to the left of it.
Zaozyorje East
  • Kerotan #63 – After the first area with guards you will see branching paths, it’s behind the big tree right in front of you before taking either path.
Rokovoj Bereg
  • Kerotan #64 – On top of one of the tall trees, more towards the centre of the area.
  • Snake I (Snake Liquid) – Can be found on the ground near one of the logs, use the Thermal Goggles.
  • Snake J (Snake Solid) – Can be found on the ground near another one of the logs, use the Thermal Goggles.
  • Snake K (Snake Solidus) – Can be found on the ground near the last of the logs, use the Thermal Goggles.
  • Camo (Snake) – Awarded for defeating The Boss by depleting her stamina. IMPORTANT! Make sure to pick it up immediately before the cutscene starts. She will drop it and you’ll have a few brief seconds to grab it.
WIG Escape (Duel with Ocelot)
  • Special Action Army (SAA) – When Ocelot lets you choose a gun, make sure you choose the one on the right to obtain this gun as a special item collectible.
Congratulations!
Ideally, following this guide ensures you now have unlocked all the usable items for any subsequent playthroughs of the game on the difficulty you chose. After the credits and the post-credits scene are done and it shows you your codename, it will ask you to save.

BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR COMPLETED GAME! This way you'll have a fresh completed game with all the items unlocked and ready for fun in repeat playthroughs.

If you want these items on other difficulties, you'll have to do this all again on that difficulty. That's why I put the guide together in this way, for repeat use on all the difficulties so I could have a save file of each.

Thank you to PowerPyx website for the initial guide, and then I modified it a lot for this purpose.

This guide is pretty good

also, the Sorrow's river is much longer based on how many people you kill before reaching it, so "going nuts" will make getting the camo (Spirit) more tedious (reference to your comment :
While you cannot kill the bosses, because you need to non-lethal them for their various camo’s, I don’t believe a no-kill run gives any collectible award outside of an achievement or specific codename at the end. So if you are not worried about the achievement on this playthrough, then go nuts. Just don’t kill the bosses.)

I already got all the achievements, but just wanted to thank you for writing a dedicated guide! When I did the achievements I had to scour through obscure gamefaqs pages to find out what I needed to do, which was less than ideal as a lot of the info there was plain wrong. So thanks for writing such an extensive guide for us here on Steam, I'm sure it will help a lot of people!

And good luck to the achievement hunters attempting this!

Just a note, I am continuing to revise and refine this guide as I use it myself multiple times on different difficulties. At some point one day, I may decide to take pics of map locations and add them.
