Описание
Ever thought the Smoker trait was too OP? Yeah me too.

Part of the 42 update added coughing after performing the smoke action...which is nice and all, definitely an appreciated nerf, but the roll on that is sooo incredibly low. This mod adds another layer on top of that and punishes smokers even further by adding a persistent cough to anyone who picks the trait.

The cough is determined by a dice roll, and anything below the set threshold number will trigger a cough (the threshold is adjustable via sandbox settings). This dice roll happens at 10 minute intervals (in-game time).

Note: I wasn't the original creator of this mod. The original author is @STKed, I have no affiliation with them whatsoever. They took their mod down because...I dunno, reasons, and I reached out to them asking if I could effectively take the reins and they said yes, so I guess this is the new official version? Although I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to coding so don't expect many significant updates.

Well it's a good thing it's adjustable, ain't it?

I've smoked 2 packs a day for about 20 years, so consider me an expert. I typically don't cough that much except for when I first wake up. I'll have straight up coughing fits for about a half an hour. My lungs feel like leather, but once I break em up and stretch em out, I'm good for the day.

Sorry, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how to do that

Hey, great mod! Is there any way you could make the 10 minute interval configurable as well? Thanks!

This is great. Even with the new changes to 42, smoking is too OP. You can just opt to smoke in a safe place, but with this, you're coughing like a real smoker any time! :D

I've already addressed this - this mod works differently to the way vanilla now does, and nerfs it even harder.

Vanilla already nerfs smoker into the ground now

Oh right. Yep okay, after reading that and checking, you're absolutely right broski. You do cough after smoking now, although it's not after every cigarette like you said. I chugged three cigarette packs, so a total of 60, and coughed three times throughout the first pack, two times on the second, and none on the third. So yeah you're right, it does roll a chance to cough after performing the smoke action but from the looks of it, it's a pretty low roll.

This mod works kinda differently and, I feel, serves a slightly different purpose - on top of this new vanilla "cough after smoking" mechanic, this mod gives smokers a persistent cough that'll perform another random chance roll (with an adjustable threshold) at 10 minute intervals (in-game time).

So yeah, if you want to punish smokers even more, then this is the mod for that.

Y'know you got me really curious by saying that, so I booted up in debug and decided to check it out, and...I'm not so sure about that. I created a fresh save with this disabled, obviously picked Smoker, and I had this character standing still while I fast forwarded for like... well over ten days straight, in fact nearly two weeks, and I didn't cough once. Enabled the mod, bam I started coughing. Disabled it again, no longer coughing. I mean, you say there's no need for it, but from what I can see vanilla doesn't do exactly what this does so I'd say it still has a place and a purpose.
