Step One:
First make sure to hit the Steam Button on your Steam Deck and select Power/Switch to Desktop

Then in a browser window (Firefox is default) navigate to:

https://www.dll-files.com/xaudio2_9.dll.html

Make sure you download the 64bit dll or else it will not work.

Once downloaded, you will need to place the dll file in the root of your MGS2 Master Collection directory. You can find this by entering the properties menu, clicking on the tab "Installed Files", and then select "Browse". Which will then open up the MGS2 root directory on your Linux Desktop.

Step Two:
Now that you have your MGS2 Master Collection root directory open in a finder window, right click your file finder on the taskbar and open up a new window to the Downloads folder and open the zip that you downloaded from the website in Step One. Inside you will see the file named: XAudio2_9.dll - right click this file and COPY + PASTE it into the MGS2 directory that you opened.

Make sure you copy the file to the MGS2 root directory and ensure it does not go into any other directory or it will not work !

(Also note that verifying your games files could remove this file so repeat this process if any critical game files need repair)

Step Three:
Now that you have the XAudio2_9.dll in your MGS2 root directory, you will now have to write a brief launch command that will target the correct .dll for the games use.

Go back to the games properties, but this time select "General", and go to the bottom where it says "Launch Options".

Now make sure to enter the launch options like this:

WINEDLLOVERRIDES=“xaudio2_9=n” %command%

I repeat there is a space between the reference of the audio file and the "%command%" so make sure your syntax is correct if it does not work!!!!.

Final Step:
Now that you have successfully placed the file in the root of the MGS2 directory in Steam, and wrote a launch option that will target the correct audio .dll for use in game, you will now be able to enjoy the game with audio during all Codec calls, and cutscenes.

Thanks for coming, and I will update the guide once Konami fixes it (they probably won't)
