Counter-Strike 2 runs native on Linux, no proton needed.
Gaming Mode
First, there are two ways how you can play Counterstrike 2 on the Steam Deck.

You can start the game in the gaming mode on the Steam Deck, but if you do that you have to set the resolution first manually to 1080p. Otherwise the menu will not work, because you can't access the whole screen with the cursor.

To do this you go to Counterstrike 2, then to Settings and in the General Section you can set the Resolution.

Input Lag in Gaming Mode

When I was playing in gaming mode in noticed a quite heavy input lag on mouse and keyboard.
Unplugging the devices and reconnect them to the Dock / Deck did it for me in the most cases.

Desktop Mode
The way to go is to enable the Desktop Mode on the Steam Deck and treat it as a PC with the Desktop Version of Steam.

Here I didn't had to set the resolution and I have no input lag at all.

Sound
If you have trouble with the Sound ingame you have to use these startparameters:

-sdlaudiodriver pipewire

Go to Counter-Strike 2 in your library, then to settings and in the general tab you can add the parameters. Just copy and paste.
Settings
With these settings i get quite stable 50 FPS ingame. If you lower some of them you can get stable 60 FPS with no input lag.

therefore you have to look in settings and bind the buy key to a button. maybe the back buttons are free.

Try in the library tab to set the screen resolution fixed to 1920x1080. you have to go to settings, there can you set the resolution. You should be in desktop mode too to do that. :csgohelmet:
