Apparently dodging during a combo switches the target!

So, you're in front of the boss, fighting for hours, trying to figure out how the bleep you do this thing. I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't the only one trying to figure it out for a long time, until I found a solution ELSEWHERE... YouTube, and had the displeasure of spoiling the ending for myself.

So, the solution is apparently really simple, would be nice if the game hinted at it!
During combo, while you're attacking him, you have to dodge to switch the target to the purple tube.
For XBox controllers it's the LB or RB button
For PS controllers it's the L1 or R2 button

And then you just attack the tube a few times and it comes off, making the rest of the boss fight a cakewalk. Would've been nice if it was obvious, huh?!

Then it comes right off like this. Won't spoil you any further than this, enjoy finishing the new content update.

ps. Yeah this update left me a bit furious, for being ridiculously unfair at times.

When it's health is at 0%, do a Quick Cyloop

Note that to be able to quick cyloop, you need to fill the bar under the combo bar, on the right side. The red filling bar turns blue when you can activate it.

Thanks a lot, dude, u saved me so many nerve cells.
To be honest, on my next attempt I noticed the "RB" pop-up after hitting the head of the dude, so the game kinda hints on that, but in all that chaos on the screen with wiggling head, flying rockets and abysmal camera angles I, as probably many others, either didn't notice it before, or just mistook it for "evade the rocket" button.
The same goes for 2nd stage with friends shield, where you also need to attack, then change target, then again.

I wasted about I'd say, an hour and a half before reading this trying to get the stupid health bar to stop regenerating faster than the character animations can finish, and at least regenerate slower, so I can quickly kill the boss with quick cyloop and sonic boom. I must've locked onto the cord by accident, so I thought it needed a quick cyloop to remove the stupid cord from the stupid robot. Somehow this is the only part of the DLC I hate, as it was very, very repetitive.

yea they literally NEVER tell you to do this, not even in knights fight where it ACTUALLY matters

the, for lack of better word, original, final boss was piss-easy. the update made it more of a (very annoying) challenge.

Alternatively you can lock on with RS/R3 then press LB/L1 to switch targets.

this was very helpful thank you very much, i knew i had to go for that cable but i didn't know how on earth attack it, i even tried to switch the target with the right stick but that wasn't it.
