This guide will describe the process for moving the save file from Steam Deck to PC and vice versa in lieu of a proper cloud saving solution.

Transfer Save File Between Steam Deck and PC

Note: This guide is outdated as of July 10, 2024 when the developers added native Steam Cloud Saves.

In lieu of a proper save system (come on crea-ture Studios Inc...please add this!), this guide will discuss the steps to transfer save files (and replay files) between platforms. This is really as simple as copy and paste, but knowing where it look is key.

Save File Location on Steam Deck

This save file is located in the following folder.

home/deck/.local/share/steam/steamapps/compatdata/861650/pfx/drive c/users/steamuser/appdata/local/sessiongame/saved

Note: home/deck is just the Home holder on the Steam Deck.
Note: "steamuser" could be different if you renamed your Steam Deck profile.

If you are moving these saves, copy all of the contents of the folder and put it in the "Saved" folder on the other device. You could also point a cloud backup to this folder like Google Drive to automatically back these files up.

Save File Location on PC

This save file is located in the APPDATA directory at the following location:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\SessionGame\Saved\SaveGames\

If you are moving these saves, copy all of the contents of the folder and put it in the "Saved" folder on the other device. You could also point a cloud backup to this folder like Google Drive to automatically back these files up.

If you would like to also transfer your replays, simply copy all of the contents of the "Replays" folder as well.

@R' glad to have someone else vet it for me! It is kind of wild that there is STILL no cloud save. It makes me chose one system to play it on and that drives me nuts.

i haven't used this guide, but it's correct. really saved my insanity. devs! steam cloud save when!?
