Description

Starting August 20th I will try to do at least one daily run of Caduceus in the Employee of the Month category as a way to motivate and discipline myself to do what I have been yearning for years: Speedrunning Viscera Cleanup Detail.

I picked Caduceus because it's the first level I ever speedran and the one I used to consider my favorite level in the past. While it has not aged as well as I'd have hoped, I still have a significant appreciation for it.

Some things for consideration:
- I play with documentaries in the background or music (I have isolated the audio track with an OBS plugin), this means I'm not as focused as I should. I will do away with the distraction later on.
- If I have to pause the game I will label the run as SEGMENTED. This is also temporary as I evolve in the runs.
- I might submit incomplete runs as INCOMPLETE, or sub 100% as ATTEMPT.
- If I do more than one run per day I will probably append a letter to the day: [DAY 01b] I did not contemplate this happening.
- No forced punishments for skipped days but I'll try to compensate with two runs.

Anyways, I can definitely get 36 minutes with this route but I need to focus better, I lost count of the medkits 🤦 I also had a lot of inconsistency and no backup plans, gore pit was really frustrating today.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and learn how to store the welder in the inventory so I have that backup in case my bin stack doesn't accommodate for transporting it.

I'm actually doubting my initial note about dispensing 10 buckets. While I still cause splotches and splatters I shouldn't have to dispense 3 more. I will be learning the threshold for that extra half rinse and maybe that way it'll loop back to being 10?

Also who knew it's not the mop's tendrils that drop frames when you cancel tool switching animations, it's just any tool in general. How great! I will not count this as SEGMENTED however since I didn't stop playing while paused. But I guess this means I didn't truly get a flat 38, RTA-wise.

I have considered a livesplit overlay if I can figure out how to do it on OBS and if I can build the muscle memory to split. I still have to train my muscle memory when instant cooling the welder. I guess disabling the sniffer does actually give an advantage? lol

Anyways, going to practice some of those things while this uploads.
