"Starting August 20th I will try to do at least one daily run of Caduceus in the Employee of the Month category as a way to motivate and discipline myself to do what I have been yearning for years: Speedrunning Viscera Cleanup Detail.

I picked Caduceus because it's the first level I ever speedran and the one I used to consider my favorite level in the past. While it has not aged as well as I'd have hoped, I still have a significant appreciation for it.

Final notes:
Okay, I am starting to feel the burnout from doing these daily and the fact that each day has been a time improvement is making this way more taxing than I originally thought. I think I can keep going until Sunday.

Yesterday I practiced switching to hands when dropping the welder and how to holster it, I also measured welding times between instant cooling and continuing welding. I also practiced getting the bonus rinse from buckets and an old trunk strat, both of which I also tried again today.

My conclusions are that when welding bullet holes, instant cooling is actually bad and holstering should be done as much as possible. As for my old trunk strat it's sadly un-salvageable :(

Welder notes:
Instant cooling is bad because one thing I never consciously realized until I re-read Backfire301's guide, is that the hotter the welder is, the faster it welds bullet holes. This has been the core reason why I always under-welded throughout all these years and you can see it in this run too during doomer wall. Instant cooling should be reserved for body cremation or when you think you're pushing the limit of the welder before it causes fires.

Bucket notes:
There is a tell to the bonus rinse. The first two full rinses are hard to tell if you look at how saturated the bucket is however the 3rd is faint and the 4th one is obvious. When you see the 4th state, only clean until your mop is half saturated, then rinse and clean until it's fully saturated for the bonus rinse.

My reference for the bucket is the metal part however the water is just as easy to tell apart. As for the mop I use cleaning blood as reference since there is a very distinct jump in visuals from somewhat spotted to brightly spotted all over, not just the tendrils but also the handle. That is roughly half saturation.

However, just because the mop's tell is more distinct than the bucket's doesn't mean you should always push for the limit. If you do you have to be VERY mindful how many splatters are overlapping on the cleaning radius and which shapes are being cleaned since some splatters are stronger than others. This is an easy trap to fall for when cleaning the glass window where the welder is.

Trunk notes:
The strat consisted of not only disposing of the mutant but also using it to in welder room, then leave it for the final one. However I tried many approaches for this and I concluded using a bin and a bucket is still faster, easier and better. When using the trunk you have to overload it to the point where the lid cannot close.

When the lid can't close it makes exiting welder room is a pain since you have to seriously thread the needle through the door, and then do it one more time when walking past the slosh-o-matic. This is all while the top half body has a high chance of rolling out. Attempting to close the lid on this body part will likely spaghetti-fy it which is dreadfully bad for the run.

Back to final notes:
While my old trunk strat is surely dead I DID dare turn and dump the trunk inside the incinerator like you would with a bin.  This is something I used to do in the past but I found it too difficult to do fast enough but to my surprise I don't seem to be struggling much now.

I did have a blunder when cleaning final room where I forgot I left a bin inside the incinerator and tried to cram the trunk in while still needing it, that had me anxious for a bit...
It also sucks I got a bad stack that spilled and I still cannot estimate how many buckets/rinses are needed for gore pit.

I intentionally replicated some random decisions from last run as actual strats here because they seemed effective and I think they are. Some different decision making at the beginning which I'm not sure how well they pan out, I can never remember the state of the first bin when I proceed to clean the mutant...

Overall I'm pleased, THIS run I definitely want to analyze. had I not felt the pressure near the end I could've saved more time, 32 minutes seems very much possible.

Can't believe I might actually beat a run by @THEpinknekos  sometime soon. If you're reading this Nekos, I hope to see you back in the VCD speedrunning world. You were truly amazing and I always wished your runs encouraged more people to run the game, it's never too late though! Hopefully the UE4 port will be the push that the community needs 🤞
