Description

Starting today (yesterday actually) I will try to do at least one daily run of Caduceus in the Employee of the Month category as a way to motivate and discipline myself to do what I have been yearning for years: Speedrunning Viscera Cleanup Detail.

I say yesterday since I actually did in fact complete a run the day prior to this upload, but I did not record it. So I will treat is as a "day 00 warm up" run.

My personal best is 41:27 from back in one of the early access version builds, the goal is to find the most optimal route and strategies without looking at the world record. From here I will aim for a personal goal, which right now is sub 40 minutes, afterwards I will invest time into learning other people's runs.

I picked Caduceus because it's the first level I ever speedran and the one I used to consider my favorite level in the past. While it has not aged as well as I'd have hoped, I still have a significant appreciation for it.

Some things for consideration:
- At the moment I'm not playing as focused as I should, I have grown too used to having a documentary or music in the background while I play. This is obviously a distraction but for the time being I will continue to do as such. You will not hear the video in the background as I have used an OBS plugin to isolate it.
- I will also not be forcing myself to do unsegmented runs just yet, if something comes up I will pause the game and the recording. I will add the word SEGMENTED in the title of the video when this is the case.
- Similarly, if I do not complete a run or if I do not achieve 100% I will append either INCOMPLETE or ATTEMPT.
- If I decide to do more runs in a single day I will append a letter to the day counter, e.g.: Second run of the day would be [DAY 01b] -- I will consider a better format in the future.
- If I skip a day I will try to compensate by doing two runs the following day, but that's not a promise. This is my own challenge so I set my own rules.

Shout out to my cat for standing on the windowsill behind the screen the entire run distracting me from the game :,)
