Starting August 20th I will try to do at least one daily run of Caduceus in the Employee of the Month category as a way to motivate and discipline myself to do what I have been yearning for years: Speedrunning Viscera Cleanup Detail.

My personal best was 41:27 from back in one of the early access version builds, now I can say my PB is valid :)

The goal right now is to find the most optimal route and strategies without looking at the world record. My goal right now is sub 40 minutes but that is approaching sooner than expected. Afterwards I will invest time in learning other people's runs.

I picked Caduceus because it's the first level I ever speedran and the one I used to consider my favorite level in the past. While it has not aged as well as I'd have hoped, I still have a significant appreciation for it.

Some things for consideration:
- I play with documentaries in the background or music (I have isolated the audio track with an OBS plugin), this means I'm not as focused as I should. I will do away with the distraction later on.
- If I have to pause the game I will label the run as SEGMENTED. This is also temporary as I evolve in the runs.
- I might submit incomplete runs as INCOMPLETE, or sub 100% as ATTEMPT.
- If I do more than one run per day I will probably append a letter to the day: [DAY 01b] I did not contemplate this happening.
- No forced punishments for skipped days but I'll try to compensate with two runs.

Final notes:
This run felt much faster, until it wasn't.
Doomer wall and gore pit as I decided to call them are proving to be really annoying. That is the bullet holes in the main area and the splatters in the J-HARM room.

I'm also still unsure how to fully incorporate the trunk into the run but I'm still very much convinced it brings a significant time save. I imagine WR does not make use of it so It'd be a dream come true to prove its meta.

And yes, I keep under dispensing buckets. Look, I wrote down long ago that I only need to dispense 10 and that if I need more it's because I'm making too many splatters. So I'll continue to do so until I doubt myself, even if I lose time.
