Wickland - Playing Duels without the Master Server

This guide will go through how you can host and join duel servers on Wickland even though the Master Server is offline. This allows you to make progress to and unlock the Duel achievements.

Download the dedicated server
  1. Download steamcmd into a folder
  2. Run steamcmd from a command prompt
    steamcmd
  3. Set the install directory for the Wickland dedicated server download
    force_install_dir c:\wicklandserver\
  4. Login anonymously to have access to download the server
    login anonymous
  5. Start the server download
    app_update 332510 validate
  6. Quit steamcmd
    quit

Start the dedicated server
In a command prompt start the server.
start c:\wicklandserver\Binaries\Win32\Wickland.exe server WLD-IxiJail?game=UDKWickland.UDKWicklandGameDuelServer?dedicated=true -Port=7778

Replace the port number if you wish to use another. Make sure to port forward the used port to allow others to connect.
How to host - Unix
Download the dedicated server
  1. Download steamcmd
  2. Run steamcmd from command line
    steamcmd
  3. Force the platform type to Windows as there isn't a Linux server binary
    @sSteamCmdForcePlatformType windows
  4. Set the install directory for the Wickland dedicated server download
    force_install_dir ./servers/wickland/
  5. Login anonymously to have access to download the server
    login anonymous
  6. Start the server download
    app_update 332510 validate
  7. Quit steamcmd
    quit

Start the dedicated server
On command line start the server under wine. You'll need wine installed
wine wickland/Binaries/Win32/Wickland.exe server "WLD-IxiJail?game=UDKWickland.UDKWicklandGameDuelServer?dedicated=true -Port=7778"

Replace the port number if you wish to use another. Make sure to port forward the used port to allow others to connect.
How to join
  1. In game open the console with the tilde key (`)
  2. Join the running duel server with the open command and pass the secret password option. Replace ip and port with the server ip and port in the example below. If your the host use the ip 127.0.0.1
    open ip:port?S=ayzwjLnRi4Eb5ZZZil5FmzcftVcXA0lDOJPii5G7wtL2YHNUZrAUq5by0LjXkvX
Duel server configuration
If you want to configure the duel server you can edit the server config file at: /UDKGame/Config/UDKGame.ini in the Wickland server directory.

The duel server values are under the [UDKWickland.UDKWicklandGameDuelServer] heading. Here you can modify the start countdown to speed up the start time of the duels.

I’m following a guide, but we can’t get it to work. When we get to this part: - start c:\wicklandserver\Binaries\Win32\Wickland.exe server WLD-IxiJail?game=UDKWickland.UDKWicklandGameDuelServer?dedicated=true -Port=7778" - for some reason, after a while, an error "Class Code" appears and starts causing issues.
Does anyone know how to solve it?

To others, best method to boost this (i think):

Have your alt (or partner) forfeit and rejoin the server, then you click on rematch (use an autoclicker to fully idle the grind), alt/partner clicks on rematch and repeat this 999 times.

If you for whatever reason can not do proper port forwarding, you can use sandboxie with an alt to join your own server without any issues.
