Unusual Assistance
You get unusual assistance by going to the pub. They have more principle potency then the assistance above. However, which one you get is totally random.
I tried using 1 ereb & 2 pence, and rolled at least 20 times.
The result is 6 different assistance.
Yet there seems to be some bias, as the occurrence of the Nun is lower than that of other assistance.
I am unsure if this is related to the type of element of the soul used. But I am certain the amount of pence used does nothing. As you only pay the assistance only after you "draw" and talk to the assistance.

As for the poet, I've yet to see a Flower that has any principle with more than 2 potency. This is just a minor boost.

I find the choice of letting the Nun use Omen very interesting. If a Nun uses Wormwood Dream (Omen, Edge 3, Moon 6, Winter 6, crafted with 15 Moon and a Stymphling) she will already have 10 Moon before any other boosts. This is a bit strong.

Looking at the card deck for Unusual Assistance in the incidents_deck file, both the Nun and the Fugitive have a 10% draw rate. The other 4 all have 20% each.

as with lyneralia and aki said getting mis and mr kile both for free is possable.
Aki 21 Aug, 2023 @ 7:45am
@technopiper I've absolutely got them both for free - and given how much of a PITA it is to use the undertaker, with only one soul giving Winter, I'm certainly glad of it!
Lyneralia 21 Aug, 2023 @ 5:59am
with the coffin-maker and midwife, if you get one or the other at the start, both are free (I double checked this just now), but which you get when interacting with their house depends on the soul card used, so at the very start you may not have access to both, depending on the soul cards you chose to start out.
also, for anyone wondering, you can 'collaborate' with your free assistance to be able to get an introduction to the other two houses in town, provided you grant them at least one matching aspect, you don't need to spend money hiring anyone, which is probably intended to gain access to hush house initially, though i just hired unusual help.

@Tunafish Man - Don't think that's true. You can either have the coffinmaker or the midwife as contact, not both. The other one will still cost you a shilling.

Worth noting, the "Obvious Assistance" free assistance varies depending on how the introduction goes, from what I've seen. So you can have the blacksmith instead of the coffinmaker/midwife couple. Although having the two-for-one with the couple is very nice.

To elaborate: To get seasonal workers, you pay money (at least a shilling; if you pay more, you get change, as always) and don't use a soul.
Debs 19 Aug, 2023 @ 7:14pm
Seasonal Assistance is found at The Sweet Bones. Pay money and the assistant will be determined by the Season you are in.
