Maestro Achievement Guide [DLC update]
By tonyastark14121 and 3 collaborators
This is the list of 44 songs that one needs to play in the game to obtain the Maestro achievement. In the process of unlocking it, most of the other game achievements can be easily unlocked too, which is also explained in this guide. Update: There is also a section for DLC achievements now as well!

Before you Start / Recommendations
Note that this guide was originally composed before the DLC was released, so most of it is written with only the main game in mind. However, there is a separate section for DLC achievements as well if you are interested!

The guide contains spoilers for the game, so I recommend continuing reading only if you played the game at least once (or better yet a couple of times) and now looking for the songs left to unlock.
This guide is available in French, thank you cancerso for the translation!
https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3022061803
  • The guide has been tested (see video below), however, there are still some assumptions about how some songs work (especially The Ritual) that have not been confirmed in full. So if you are not able to get some versions of the Ritual for example, try following the exact sequences of choices rather than our recommendations around it.
  • For PS5: I am aware that Maestro achievement for PS5 requires unlocking 46 songs instead of 44. However, from what I heard from the players in steam discussions and in the comments to this guide, it is actually sufficient to unlock the 44 songs listed here to get the achievement on PS5 as well. However, I do not have the PS5 version of the game so cannot say anything more about it.
  • There is a way to check which songs you have already unlocked for the Maestro achievement by digging into save files; more on that in the 'Game Files Shenanigans' section.
  • I think the simplest way that doesn't require starting over too much is to do the Pan route first. In this playthrough:
    • At the end of Old Wounds / Act I, choose Persephone and flirt with her once right after the song.
    • In Act II, leave the party until the last moment, doing the Reliquary and Medusa parts first. While doing that, hit all the romantic options with Pan and dance with him.
    • In Hades, do not bring Freddie back.
    After this is done,
    • Go back to after the Trial and break things off with Pan for the no-romance epilogue song Everything. Then,
    • Go back to It's Time and do the Freddie route from there. After that,
    • Go to the scene with Persephone after the party, hit one more romantic choice, and do the Persephone route from there. After that,
    • Go back to the Old Wounds song and choose Apollo. It is sufficient to flirt with him at the party only, so nothing from Act I except this one song and conversation after that needs to be replayed.
Obviously, this is not the only way to do this, and I didn't check if there's a more optimal way to go about the order of the routes, but I think this order is not too bad and somewhat time-saving.
  • Be aware that for the Maestro achievement counter to update, you usually have to play not just the song itself, but a scene or a few after it as well. If you are playing the same number several times in a row to get all the possible versions at once, be careful to not reload too early.
  • In case you didn't know, the N key (or X button on a controller) lets skip lines outside of the songs, so use this knowledge wisely.
Act I
In Act I, a total of twelve songs can be unlocked:

  • Adrift. The first song counts for the achievement once, and any trait can be chosen for the Maestro achievement. However, if you are interested in other achievements as well, Snake Charmer is only obtainable if you choose the Clever trait in the beginning of the game; This Hell Is Mine requires having the Kickass trait by the end of Act II, which can be chosen as the second trait later on.
  • Chorus is in Accord. No input from player is required.
  • Old Wounds. The final song of Act I where the choice between Apollo and Persephone is made. Any choices within the song are fine, it only counts once for the achievement

The following numbers each have three variations to them ('Green', 'Red', and 'Blue'). For the achievement, each variation needs to be played.
  • I Can Teach You. The second choice determines the variation. Choose anything you like for the rest of the number.
  • Phantom Pains. Variation is determined by the first choice.
  • Challenging a Queen. The first choice determines the variation.
Act II
Thirteen songs (not including the ones specific to romantic routes) are unlocked in this act:

  • Cast a Spell. Three variations determined by the first prompt. Here you can get another relatively rare achievement: Arrow of Eros Undone, obtained by choosing the blue option at the very end of the song.
  • Look into Me Three variations determined by the first prompt. Here you can get another relatively rare achievement: Snake Charmer, obtained if you have the Clever trait from the beginning of the game and choose the blue option at the very end of the song.
  • The Ritual. This is the trickiest musical number in this achievement, and if you are stuck at around 38-40 songs and don't know what you missed, it is probably the versions of The Ritual. Unlike many songs, it has not three, but seven variations that count for the achievement. These variations are defined not so much by the third choice that determines the musical theme for the rest of the number, but by Aphrodite's response to what Grace sings after the third prompt. These responses are determined by the first three choices in the song: the third one determines the musical theme, and the first two determine Aphrodite's response within that theme.

If this last paragraph seemed confusing, I suggest playing the Ritual seven times with the following choice sequences (the song always has four or five prompts, and each letter stands for the color you should choose):

    • Tune 21: At least one red in the first two, Red third
      ex. RRRR
    • Tune 22: Red first, Red second, Blue third
      ex. RRBRR
    • Tune 23: No red in the first two, Red third
      ex. GGRGG
    • Tune 24: Anything but two greens and two reds in the first two, Blue third
      ex. BBBBB
    • Tune 25: No green in the first two, Green third
      ex. RRGRR
    • Tune 26: Green first, Green second, Blue third
      ex. GGBGG
    • Tune 27: At least one green in the first two, Green third
      ex. GGGG

In theory, the second, fourth, and fifth choices could be random and the seven variations will still all play out and count toward the achievement, but these specific seven sequences are what we were able to test successfully.

NB! Be aware that for the Maestro achievement counter to update, you usually have to play not just the song itself, but a scene or a few after it as well. In particular, for the versions of the Ritual, the counter updates when the dialogue with Apollo after the musical number starts. I have also heard that for some people even that is not far enough. If you are playing the same number several times in a row to get all the possible versions at once, be careful to not reload too early.
Act III
The six songs can be obtained with any romantic interest chosen (including choosing no one):
  • The Throne, with three variations defined from the first choice.
  • It's Time. No matter what choices are made, the song counts once for the achievement.
  • Adrift (reprise). There are two different versions of this number depending on whether Grace brought Freddie back from the dead: In one, she uses the power and sings with all the past Muses. In the other, Grace sings solo, since she does not have the power at this point anymore.

Four more songs come from The Trial: unlike other songs, the variations of The Trial are based not on the colors of a particular prompt, but on who of the four potential romantic options stands beside Grace first. If you entered and have not broken off a romantic relationship at this point, your chosen romantic interest will stand by you. Otherwise, it will be either Apollo or Persephone, depending on who you chose at the end of Act I to help you out during Act II.
Epilogue & Romantic routes songs
These nine songs are specific to the chosen romantic route. One song will be played in the epilogue, and the other takes place somewhere in Act II or III. All romantic routes need to be played for the achievement.

  • Everything Has Changed. Is played if Grace is not in a romantic relationship by the time the epilogue starts. It does not matter if Freddie is in the song for this achievement.
  • If Only + reprise. The two songs in the Freddie route. The first song is played when confronting Freddie before the trial.
  • Here for the Ride + reprise. The two songs in the Apollo route. The first song takes place after the ritual (Aphrodite's party) if Apollo was chosen at the end of Act I.
  • Let's Have This Dance + reprise. The two songs in the Pan route. The first song happens after visiting the Reliquary for the first time.
  • You and I + reprise. The two songs in the Persephone route. The first one comes after the ritual (Aphrodite's party) and conversation with Apollo if Persephone was chosen at the end of Act I.
Other Achievements (Main Game)
Note: this section is only about the achievements in the main game. For the achievements in Orpheus DLC, see next section!

Maestro is easily the most demanding achievement of the game, so naturally by getting it you will likely obtain many more achievements, such as:
  • Virtuoso: requires listening to every song, but not necessarily every version of it as Maestro does. Naturally, getting Maestro means you also get Virtuoso.
  • End of the Road, The Deep End, Across the Styx, The Muse's Encore, Against All Odds: unlocked by progressing the story, you will always have them by completing any playthrough.
  • Not Taking Any Chances: awarded for telling Athena about Medusa trying to eat you in Act II, can be missed on a playthrough, but also is fairly easy to get.
  • Everything Has Changed, The Answer Is You, Share This Dance, Together Victorious, Brave on Time: achievements related to the one non-romantic and four romantic routes. Maestro achievement requires listening to every song, including those specific to these routes, so these achievements should also all become unlocked.
  • Heartbreaker: obtained by flirting with all four romantic interests, not necessarily in a single playthrough (although it is possible). Will unlock naturally while pursuing all four romantic routes to get Maestro.
  • 'Final choices achievements': These are awarded for selecting a specific ending to select musical numbers. Making different final choices does not affect the Maestro achievement on its own. However, in order to get it, you will need to replay these songs several times, so might as well choose different outcomes to cover more achievements (and sometimes choosing a different outcome is necessary to unlock one of the five routes). A minor exception is The Throne: it has four outcomes, but for Maestro it is sufficient to play three variations of the song.
In this table, each row is a song and the achievements you can get from it by making the final choice of the respective color.

    * Snake Charmer requires the Clever trait (must be chosen at the beginning of the game).
** This Hell is Mine requires the Kickass trait (may be chosen at the midpoint of the game).
*** Choosing Orpheus is also a prerequisite for Return of the King achievement in DLC.

The only three achievements left out are Fiery, Cunning, and Charismatic, which are obtained by completing a playthrough that began with choosing the Kickass, Clever, or Charisma trait, respectively. If you follow the recommendation at the start of the guide, it is possible to get the Maestro achievement in a single save file by choosing the first trait once and reloading at earlier chapters, so in the end only one of these three achievements is unlocked based on the trait chosen. To obtain all three achievements, three full playthroughs from the beginning to the end are required.

Orpheus DLC Achievements
Although the guide is mostly devoted to the rare Maestro achievement, it also touches on other achievements you can get in the game, so it made sense to include a section on the achievements from the DLC for the player's convenience here. Spoilers ahead!

The DLC has 8 new achievements, and, like in the main game, some are awarded for simply progressing the story, while others are unlocked by making specific choices within the songs, or even in the dialogues between the numbers. We start with the three that are not song-related:
  1. One More Song: achieved is unlocked automatically after the first song of the game What's Next, or in other words, when Orpheus reaches the mortal realm.
  2. Return of the King: this achievement also unlocks at the start of DLC, however for that to trigger you must load your choices from a main game save file in which Orpheus remained the King of the Underworld. Make sure to load your main game save from the DLC menu so that the choices are carried over!
  3. Orpheus has no Rizz: unlocked towards the end of DLC if you chose to flirt with every Idol you met in the game, meaning, either Eros or Medusa in the 'tavern', Hermes in the scene after the 'tavern', and Grace in the scene on the roof. Those do not have to be over the same playthrough, although it is easy to get them all in one playthrough anyway.

Two more achievements are related to the two songs you can hear in the 'tavern' based on who you meet there; however, that last part actually depends on how the speed dating event (A New Love song) went for you:
  1. The Meaning of Love refers to the duet you have with Eros. The two scenarios under which I was able to get him are:
    • The speed dating is successful, meaning that out of three people with who you could form a connection (the woman obsessed with her ex, the rich guy, and the last girl who is also looking for love), you chose the green dialogue option for at least one of them. (Personally, I chose the last girl at the end of the song, but I do not think that this choice actually influences whether Eros or Medusa will come in the next scene).
    • All of your speed dates were a failure, and you chose the blue option to either quit halfway through (after things with the rich guy did not work out), or later after you rejected the last girl as well.
  2. Outside Looking In is for the duet with Medusa. I was able to meet her at the tavern after I failed every date up to the rich guy, and then decided to call it quits instead of sticking around by choosing red option (blue option also ends the song, but results in meeting Eros instead). It is also possible to stay after rejecting the rich guy, continue with the dates, reject the last girl, and choose the red option in the end to get Medusa.
Both achievements are awarded after the 'tavern' scene is over and you are reunited with Eros. At the moment I did not check for every single outcome of the song, but the scenarios above should be enough to get both Eros and Medusa. Also, I played with default choices in the main game (= not loading up a save), I am not sure if maybe the main save impacts if Medusa is in the game.

The final three achievements are for choosing one of the three endings of this DLC, with are also the three endings of the final song Something New:
  1. Back to the Dead: green ending.
  2. A Mortal Life: red ending.
  3. In Search of Fate: blue ending.
Note that, despite some color options disappearing sometimes depending on your choices during the song, or some might look like it is your last chance to reconsider before locking into an ending, you will definitely have a clear choice between all three paths, no matter what your immediate choices were.
Game Files Shenanigans
There is a way to check which songs towards the Maestro achievement you have already played across your multiple playthroughs, but it is not in-game, so some may consider it cheating, but I will explain it for all the others. To check the songs, you will need to find the folder with your save files, specifically the file SaveGame.sav, and open it using a text editor (Notepad for example).

I play on Windows 10 and can access my save folder with the following steps:
  • Press Win + R.
  • In "Open" line, write %appdata%, press enter.
  • From the opened folder, go one level up and navigate to <...>/AppData/Local/Chorus/Saved/SaveGames.
  • SaveGame.sav file should be there.

When opened in a text editor, you will be able to read the info on all achievement progress you have made over multiple playthroughs. For the Maestro achievement, we are interested only in strings that have the form "Achievements.Game.SG_Maestro.<song_name>". Below is a complete list of them, so you can check what you have against the list and figure out which songs you are missing that way, and then refer to this guide to find out how to unlock them (although it is pretty self-explanatory when you see the names I think, except maybe The Ritual).

Video Walkthrough
This video follows this guide very closely and unlocks not only the Maestro achievement but 34 more achievements as a by-product. If you are having trouble following any steps of the guide, this video reference might be helpful. The video also serves as the confirmation that the guide should be reproducible. You can also watch it on YouTube.

Acknowledgements
Thank you to everyone contributing to discussions of this achievement on the forum and in the comments to the guide, in particular to Sojichai, Dayashi, and tyrianheart for various very helpful testing not only of The Ritual song which proved to be the trickiest one for us, but also for exploring a lot of subtle song variations back when we didn't even know we had to look at The Ritual further, and reporting their findings to the forum.

For the DLC section that was added much later, I would like to acknowledge the other users who have been on the hunt before I updated this guide, namely sian57, the author of the DLC guide:
https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3276653317
and also OfHearts, who was active in the comments to the said guide. If you appreciated my guide for mentioning the DLC achievements, please consider popping over to them and giving them a like and a reward as well!

I also thank maría who pushed me to update the guide with the DLC content in the first place, it would have probably slipped my mind otherwise and that would not be nice :D

And, last but not least, I would like to thank everybody who was leaving comments and awards on this guide since it was first uploaded nearly a year ago! Back in August 2023 it was incredibly gratifying to see how 0.1% rarity of the Maestro achievement grew to a full 1% after the solution was published, and then even further! (Even if it meant that my bragging rights for getting this achievement were a little bit less rare, haha) This is also the first steam guide I ever made, and the recognition it received inspired me to write even more guides for games I enjoy, which was a very fun outlet for me that was also hopefully helpful for respective gaming communities. So yes, if you ever left a like, an award, added the guide to favorites, or left a comment either here on steam or on youtube, and now you are for some reason reading this updated guide - thank you very much! Also if you just used the guide and did not do any of those engagement things, you are cool too!

The guide has been tested (see the video above), however, there are still some assumptions about how some songs work (especially The Ritual) that have not been confirmed in full. So if you are not able to get some versions of the Ritual for example, try following the exact sequences of choices rather than our recommendations around it. And of course, if you are having any other trouble following the guide or noticing inconsistencies between your playthrough and the video playthrough, please let us all know in the comments so we can figure it out!

@AlphaZulu Congratulations on the achievement, glad the guide could help! :) Phantom Pains is a tricky one, since it is one of those songs that do not have an achievement for every ending chosen (like I Can Teach You for example), and the versions are not so different from each other, so you don't necessarily remember if you heard all of them. And you can get Virtuoso for playing any one version of the song, so no wonder you got it without playing the Clever one. But anyway, great that you could track it down!
AlphaZulu 12 Sep, 2024 @ 1:44pm
You saved me! I had the game and I could not get Maestro for the life of me. And i followed your File Shenanigans trying to see if I was missing a song in The Trials, which was what I was originally thinking.

Nope. Following all the Maestro achievements, turned out I had never chosen Clever in the Phantom Pains song (no idea how I already had Virtuoso). Went back, did it, and I finally got it. Thank you so much!

@sian57 If you have any save files since your previous playthroughs, then you can do a chapter load through the game's main menu and only replay the Ritual as many times as you need. But if you completely wiped all the progress you had before or are playing from a different device then yeah, the only option I see is to replay the game up to that point. And, depending on how cleanly all previous progress has been wiped, you might also have to replay the song all seven times (the achievement is awarded when all variations were triggered across multiple saves, but if the SaveGame.sav file that records progress over multiple playthroughs is also gone then naturally it does not have the info on playing the other three versions of the song).
sian57 10 Jun, 2024 @ 7:38am
Is there a way, without playing the entire game up until the Ritual, so I can get my missing 4 variants for this achievement?
tonyastark  [author] 7 Apr, 2024 @ 3:09pm
@Silveross That sounds annoying :( Don't forget to do the non-romance epilogue song as well, but otherwise yeah, I got no advice but to try everything again. On PC you could at least check the save file, but on PS it's hard to track what's missing.
Silveross 31 Mar, 2024 @ 4:36am
I'm stuck at 43 for a day now (I'm on PS but praise this guide to let me go this far), and I can't find what I'm missing. It's the last trophy I need. I'm trying again with every song and variations, except the ones I'm really sure I've done, such as the romance songs and, therefore, the Trial ones.
