XP Categories
XP is broken down into three separate categories; Hole Out, Style, and Time. The sum of these will become your final XP at the end of the level.

This XP will count towards both leveling up and progression, plus the leaderboard score.
Hole Out
You will get a different amount of XP depending on how many strokes it takes you to reach a hole.

Strokes
XP
Hole-in-one
500 XP
Eagle
400 XP
Birdie
300 XP (Hard) or 350 XP (Easy)
Par
200 XP
Bogey
100 XP
Double Bogey
100 XP
Triple Bogey
100 XP

To reach S-Rank for a level you will need a Hole-in-one.
Style
Style XP is made up of a few different things such as how you hit the ball and route you take in the levels.

The first is how you launch the ball, whether you were able to get a Perfect (50 XP) or Excellent (25 XP). To get a perfect you should aim for the white line when you release on the power meter, it will make a sound when you do so. Excellent is the lesser 25 XP when you release in the colored portion either side.

You can also earn XP for taking shortcut pipes which will award 25 XP. However if you find a way to avoid traversing pipes entirely on levels that normally require it you can get a 25 XP pathfinder award instead.

For S-Rank you will need to bare minimum get a perfect for the 50 XP, and aim for a shortcut or pathfinder 25 XP award if possible in the level.

A further 50 XP can be earned in hard mode difficulty by coming to a stop on the green (within the circle) upon your first shot.
Time
Time XP is awarded for reaching the hole in under 60 seconds. With 4XP awarded per each second under as well as an overall bonus 60XP.

The specifics of how this is calcuated is below where t is seconds remaining under 60.

x = (t + 2.5) x4 + 50
  • 61 seconds would give 0 XP
  • 59 seconds would give 64 XP
  • 30 seconds would give 180 XP
  • 10 seconds would give 260 XP
In general it means for every 4th of a second difference you could increase your score by 1XP. For leaderboard entries the first to reach a score will be ranked higher than any player who matches it later.

To get an S-Rank you typically want complete a hole in under 18 seconds, which would award you at least 238 XP.
Getting S-Rank
To reach S-Rank you need to hit 800 XP, which can be made up of the following.
  • Hole-in-one 500XP
  • Pefect hit 50XP
  • Shortcut or pathfinder 25XP
  • Time bonus for 18 seconds or less 238 XP.

If you got all of that it would give you 813 XP. To increase your score you would need to aim for a greater time bonus.

Where a shortcut or pathfinder is not possible you will have to make it up with time.
