Introduction
This guide will give you information on how to install custom Steam skins.

Installing Skins
Whenever you use a third party website for downloading skins always practice safe browsing habits; Steam Support has a great article on this which can be found here.

The main directory of the skin must be installed in the following directories. If the skin you're installing has an installer wizard, this is where you'd point it to.

/Program Files/Steam/skins/

Example: /Program Files/Steam/skins/skinname/

/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Steam/skins/

Example: /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Steam/skins/skinname/

~/.local/share/Steam/skins/

Example: ~/.local/share/Steam/skins/skinname/

Once you've installed the files into their own folder within the skins directory you'll need to select the skin from the Steam interface settings. You will need to restart Steam for the skin to work once you've selected it.

If you'd like to uninstall a skin, return to your skins directory and delete the folder for the skin you made when installing it. Once Steam has been restarted it will revert to the default theme.

You have to use steam homebrew/millennium to do skins now:

I think Steam no longer supports custom skins.

If you have installed Steam on Linux via Flatpak the folder for skins is at ~.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam . If the folder isn't existing, just create 'skins' at the location.

The new Steam update made it so that the location of the folder is now /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/skins/

Once I drop my steam skin into the "skin" folder in the directory, I launch steam to go to the settings and stuff. But when i click the drop-down menu, its not there

"Once you've installed the files into their own folder within the skins directory you'll need to restart Steam."

That's not needed. Skin(s) will appear in Interface menu immediately.
