Guide will use Dawn of War 2 Retribution as example. Same method, from my experiece, works on Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising.

1) Download and install Dawn of War 2/ Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising / Dawn of War 2 Retribution.

2) (optional) Verify game files to be sure game installed correctly.

Click on Gear Icon -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files.


3) Start game once for setup to install remaining files.

1) Follow the instructions of the mod page to install the mod.

2) The game directory may look like this, with new folders and ".module" files. For the purposes of this guide, the mod "Campaign Wargear Unlocker" will be used.


3) Look for the "Launch Options" for the game. As before, click on the gear icon "Manage", choose "Properties", and this window may open.


4) The Launch Options are arguments Steam uses to start the game with. The generic arguments for DoW 2 modding follows this, usually:

-modname X

In which X will be what is written on the .module file of the mod you installed, as the image of item 2 shows.

5) When you change these arguments for the ones of your installed mod, it will look like this. Again, the example is the "Campaign Wargear Unlocker" mod.

-modname CampaignWargear

7) You mod should execute the next time you run your game with Steam.

EDIT 12/15/2022: the "-dev" argument isn't necessary to be used. It just create more logs on the warnings.log file. You can use only the "-modname X" argument.
