BYPASS / SKIP LAUNCHER: 2 OPTIONS
Option 1: Best Option
  • Right click Divinity 2 in your games list in Steam - click - > Properties.
  • Go To > Launch Options (at the bottom)
  • Write the location of your EoCApp.exe with quotation marks at the beginning and end, followed by a space and %command%.

  • Example (your location may be different):

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\bin\EoCApp.exe" %command%

  • Photo Screenshot
Clicking Play from Steam should Now Bypass the Launcher.

Option 2: Not Recommended
Others have suggested using --skip-launcher in your properties/launch options but for users like me you will get a notification message about the launcher program having to close (even though the game will boot) every time you open the game. This is almost as piss poor an experience as using the launcher itself.

I'm not even a big fan of isometric RPGs but I did like Larian as a developer until this Launcher garbage which makes Baulder's Gate 3 an easy non-purchase decision for me.

Hopefully this guide has improved your gaming experience by helping you avoid Larian's disrespect/contempt for its player base.

@Seff Make sure you have the right file location referenced. The example provided above is the default location but if you have more than one drive or installed the game somewhere else the executable will be in that location and must be referenced accordingly.

Just tried the first method. Got an error about a missing game executable.

@Matt Shield - False.

The latest build of the game is 9530355 according to Steam DB (https://steamdb.info/app/435150/patchnotes/) .

Navigating to your game's >> Properties >> Updates will confirm this. Example: https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3419070296

After launching the game the version number is on the bottom of the screen 3.6.117 etc etc. Example: https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3419059804

This actually gives you version 3.0 of the game. I would not recommend using this method.

If using Linux, you can just paste this into your launch options.

Unmodded:
echo "%command%" | sed 's\bin/SupportTool\DefEd/bin/EoCApp\' | sh

For Script Extender:
echo "WINEDLLOVERRIDES=\"DXGI.dll=n,b\" PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" | sed 's\bin/SupportTool\DefEd/bin/EoCApp\' | sh

@RazieltheWraith I'm guessing the notification issue is related to what OS is being used.

I used skip-launcher and it didn't get a notification about the launcher closing

--skip-launcher seems totally fine to me.

Does skipping the launcher disable steam achievements?
