Prerequisites
You need the following 3 files:
(If you already got BepInEx and the Patch Loader installed, you only need the StreamingPatch)
Installing the Patch Files
  1. Open your Steam library

  2. Right-click Melody's Escape 2
    • Manage
      • Browse Local Files
    (folder might open in the background)

  3. Open the BepInEx zip file and drag its contents into the Melody's Escape 2 directory (where Melody's Escape 2.exe is located)

  4. Open the PatchLoader.zip and also drag its contents into the game directory, let it replace the existing files (otherwise the patch loader wont work)

  5. Open the StreamingPatch.zip and (you guessed it) drag its contents also into the game directory, folders should merge automatically and if it asks to replace some files, let it replace them
    • You might have unblock the "me2util.exe" (which provdes the game with the YouTube audio data and video info)
      • This can be done by right-clicking it -> Properties -> Check the "unblock" checkbox at the bottom -> Press "Apply" (or "Ok" should do it too)

  6. To verify just open the game and if you got 2 new items in the "Music Selection" section of the file browser

Important!
Game updates can and will break the Patch Loader!
Simply reinstalling it should fix it again!
Bigger game changes will probably break this patch, please be patient, it can take a while to fix things and update it.
Usage
Once you open the game you'll notice 2 new entries in the "Music Selection" list
  • Open YT Links File
  • YouTube Links

You can play YouTube links by doing the following:
  • Select the first option which opens the text file where YouTube links are read from
  • Add the links you want to play in-game and save (if you want it keep it open, CTRL+S is a neat shortcut to save)
  • Select the "YouTube Links" entry now, the videos you just put in the text file should show in form of "[ME2Ex][YT]_VideoID"
  • You can now play them like any other local song, however when you select one it will freeze for a few seconds while its loading in the audio data and video info, be patient! (especially for longer stuff!)
Known Issues
  • Unicode characters become ? or squares
  • Favorited YouTube songs are lost after a game restart
  • YouTube songs in Recent are lost after a game restart
  • Anything that needs a YouTube login will break it

Might pick it up again when the next big update comes out, for now I could probably make it work again but the next update would break it big time again.
This was a bit easier for Audiosurf 2 cause there weren't any updates for years lol and thankfully the steam deck update there didn't change much

Just throwing my hat in hoping someone picks it up if you don't. Only reason I really wanted to get the game because Youtube is my music player now haha.

Ngl probably not for quite some time, its peak (anime) convention season for me where my group either has a performance or we do AV tech work, so it'll probably be a while.
Maybe when the next big update comes out, its been quite a while and it would be pain to work on something and then it getting patched a few weeks later

Yea I know, I lost motivation to update stuff, I think the custom audio engine is still fine but the "me2util" needs an update for the youtube library

0.5 doesn't change the Reactor again it seems, so just needs a PatchLoader reinstall
