EMD E8: Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe

Description
Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe E8 Locomotives

The Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway, shorten often to simply "Santa Fe", was the railroad with perhaps the most famous diesel locomotives. The "warbonnet" scheme, used on Santa Fe locomotives as early as the 1930s, became an iconic design that was also applied to these E8 locomotives, built in 1953. Interestingly, several of these units were rebuilt from previous, early locomotives, including E1s, and EMC AAs.

These locomotives were used on various passenger trains run by the Santa Fe, though they seem to have been often paired with shorter consists, where a single E8 could work more efficiently than multiple F7s or similar engines.

This pack includes four repaints of themeatballhero's fantastic E8 locomotives, three E8A locomotives with reversed variants, and one E8B.

Here are the skins and their eras:
  • Santa Fe 80 - 1953 (Includes Reversed)
  • Santa Fe 84 - 1953 (Includes Reversed)
  • Santa Fe 87 - 1953 (Includes Reversed)
  • Santa Fe E8B - 1953

Also, thanks to the following:
  • themeatballhero, for their fantastic E8 locomotive, the resources to skin it, specifically including Santa Fe logos, designs, and other details, and helping troubleshoot along the way.
  • The Transport Fever North America Discord server.
  • The Transport Fever 2 Wiki, their instructions on setting up the Model Editor were essential.
  • You, the people viewing this and downloading this skin! I was blown away with the positive response from my previous reskins, that it really encouraged me to do more.
  • Credit to Ben Coifman of railfonts.com and Pete Willard of railsimstuff.com for all and any fonts involved.

They have that antenna design, Meatball included them and I made sure to use them! I try my best to ensure each model reflects the real-world locomotive as closely as possible.

The Santa Fe E8s (technically classified as E8Am) were rebuilt from the EMC E1s and had a handful of unique quirks as a result. The most notable appearance changes is the antenna as it was a weird, almost box-like shape mounted above the cab.

Very nice model, though, almost all model railroad versions ignore this detail anyways
