Client Setup
In this area I will cover how to check and setup the game client we use - {JoF}EternalJK !

~ Client ~

Step 1: Make sure you can launch Multiplayer

First and foremost you'd like to see if Multiplayer can be launched from the get-go. This can be done by going to your Game Library, select Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and click on Multiplayer. If that works fine already we can move on!

Step 2: Downloading & Installing {JoF}EternalJK Client

{JoF} is the biggest community in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy with ~ 200 active members ingame & on our Forums. We have also contributed to the client EternalJK - an improvement to the old game with quality of life changes and optimizations for Modern PCs.

To get started you have to download it from here:

For Windows:
https://github.com/Milamber0/JoF_EJK/releases/download/1.5.2/JoF_EJK.1.5.2.zip

Navigate where your game is installed, go to GameData folder and paste all those files there. Don't worry, the client is optimized for Steam to recognize it whenever you're playing on Multiplayer! It only has support for Multiplayer. You can also launch the game using eternaljk.x86.exe

If you already have EternalJK that is not JoF version, you'll want to go inside GameData/EternalJK and delete the japro-win-x86.pk3 file. This needs to be replaced with jofclient-win-x86.pk3

For MacOS:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iaGL0qd98eQzXM6LL5c0ySf3h7BKB7LI/view

Double click and open folder and copy everything.

After copying everything follow these steps:

1) CMD(⌘) + Space enter and open spotlight search

2) Paste ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Jedi Academy and open Jedi Academy folder.

3) Right Click Jedi Academy and show package contents.

4) Double click and open Contents folder.

5) Paste JoF EJK files into Contents folder.

6) Drag JoFEJK app file to your dock. Now you are able to run the game from your dock.

Since this is not officially Apple signed application you may get error that says "MOVE TO TRASH" and blocked by Apple security system. You should whitelist them via terminal.

If you put the game inside of the Application Support folder just copy and paste these commands to terminal.

If you have different path you have to change the path.(Example: Desktop/JoFEJK/JoFEJK.app)

CMD(⌘) + Space and type Terminal and open the terminal. Then copy and paste these two commands one by one.

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine Library/Application\ Support/JoFEJK/JoFEJK.app
codesign --force --deep --sign - Library/Application\ Support/JoFEJK/JoFEJK.app

All credits go to:
- The OpenJK contributors
- The EternalJK contributors
- The JoF code team contributors

Step 3: Join {JoF}Public Server

You are now playing on the most up to date game client and you're able to see way more servers and you have access to more settings than the base game client.

To join {JoF}Public Server you have to open the console by pressing the combination of Shift ~ (Tilde, under ESC key/next to !/above TAB) or just ~ and type any of the following commands:

/Connect JoF.JK3.in
/Connect JoF.JKA.io
/Connect Public.JoFHub.EU

Multiplayer Setup
This area will cover basic knowledge how to setup your Multiplayer once you have installed {JoF}EternalJK game client.

Once you are ingame you can begin setting up.

Optimization settings: For this part you have to open the console again ingame as previously mentioned (Shift + ~ or just ~) and type these commands one by one:

/rate 25000
/snaps 40
/cl_maxpackets 125
/com_maxfps 125
/r_flares 0

These will boost your FPS and make the game smooth like butter, you would only need to cap FPS to 125 as it is the best for dueling, no need to go for more.
Note: In case you're still experience performance issues such as framedrops, you can enable a new renderer (credits to Sunny for developing it) called Vulkan. You can do this by typing /cl_renderer rd-vulkan in the console followed by /vid_restart ; this should increase the performance considerably high.
Here you can watch a comparison from the normal renderer (OpenGL) and Sunny's Vulkan renderer:
If your game will look foggy/darker consider tweaking /r_drawfog command in console to your liking.

Our server is playing on a serverside mod called JA+ (Jedi Academy+) that offers a lot of improvements along with quality of life ones.

One of the essential things is setting up keybindings:

Grapple: It is a skillshot that you can shoot and moves you as long as you hold it, think of web swinging like Spider-Man, it's the same thing.

To set up you have to assign it on any key you'd prefer, example:

/bind G +grapple

If you want to bind it on one of your mouse buttons use Mouse4/Mouse5 or what any other buttons you may have there.

You can assign other commands such as emotes or messages at the press of buttons.

To access emotes ingame, open the console and do /aminfo - this will show you a big list of commands:

To assign it do: /bind key emote

In order to send a message at the press of a button do: /bind key say message ; example /bind - say GG

To be able to chat with other players you have to press Y (which is default) and then start interacting! You can also send a private message by aiming at a player and pressing U (default) or use the console and type /tell player/id (ID can be found by doing /showplayerid command in console).
