Albion's Literacy Mod - Learn to Read, Read Faster

Descrição
Learn to Read!
With this mod, your reading speed is affected by your literacy level, which you can increase by reading books. Even illiterate characters can learn to read by finding the rare 'Learn to Read!' magazine, but their reading speed will be extremely slow as they catch up, and they will still suffer from permanent downsides. This offers an immersive way to increase the often complained about speed at which characters read.
New Trait
In exchange for +2 points, Poor Reader offers a slightly reduced XP multiplier from skill books.
Trait Changes
The Fast Reader meta is over! Fast reader now offers +1 reading skill and a permanent 10% speed increase, as opposed to the vanilla 30%. While this is the same to start off, the direct impact of Fast Reader is much lower, changing its level of utility to much closer match its low -2 cost. Slow Reader does the opposite, making it now a reasonable way to save points at character creation. Both still have a meaningful permanent impact on the character, but match their costs more closely. Illiterate characters can learn to read using the extremely rare 'Learn to Read!' magazine, making the trait slightly less impactful on long runs, while still earning its +8 points.
Expanded Skill Books
This mod includes skill books for every vanilla skill, including passives. There are no skill books for reading, but it naturally levels up faster than most skills to compensate.
Full Customisation
Still reading too slow? Don't want the new skill books, or already have a mod that adds them? This mod offers sandbox variables to ensure that everyone's ideal Zomboid experience can be realised.
Mod Compatibility
This mod does not replace any vanilla functions, so it should be compatible with any other well written mod, even if it also modifies reading mechanics. You will also gain XP for any modded books and readables.

it doesn't sound like that's going to be an issue in b42 either way - though if b42's changes turn out well i may remove the 'learn to read' portion of the mod entirely

Not so sure if replacing the magazine with a VHS tape would be a good idea if the goal is to prevent the "Illiterate" trait from acting like a permanent disability. An illiterate character, who does not pick engineer, after the power is shut off, would never be able to watch the tape, since you need to read the generator magazine to operate a generator and get power to watch tapes.

I am 100% sure since i have only really found Aiming book 2, but barely can find the other ones. But i did download a mod which adds trait magazines, maybe it could be that one causing the issue?

@ACHERONTIA the learn to read magazine will be replaced with a vhs in a future update, likely sometime during b42

@Alan Harper vhs tapes that give a skill boost (acting exactly like skill books do) are planned to come along with that update (alongside an overall nerf to xp gain to compensate)

@Pifilix.SVK all skill books are intended to have exactly the same rarity, if the aiming books really aren't spawning that may be a bug - make sure you have the sandbox option for gun books enabled

I can confirm @R4skall soft incompatability.

Not sure but is aiming skill books intended to be super rare to find? Been struggling to find a single one of them

found a soft incompatability with an extrordinairiliy organized literature mod, you cant read more then one page if you have the flag as read module turned on

I think it would also be interesting if there were grammar books and writing practice books to boost the literacy skill

@ACHERONTIA this is a fair point, how can someone learn to read by reading?
ACHERONTIA 15 de nov. às 12:25
wouldn't it be cool if we get a VHS instead a magazine to learn how to read?
