Petition: Remove 'The Ultimate' Achievement

Capcom could easily remove this achievement via Steamworks; the developer interface.

Achievement hunters are unable to 100% this game because of this broken achievement.

"You can just use SAM"

Using SAM to force this achievement will flag an achievement hunter's profile as illegitimate. These users are regarded by the community as cheaters. Legitimate hunters cannot 100% this game without the achievement being removed. Furthermore, these users aren't eligible to be listed on leader-boards.

A cheating user account will look like this:

Once this petition reaches 100 ratings, I'll be submitting it to some of the directors and producers of the game via their social media accounts (Contacts at the end of the petition).

Some of them are Japanese, they may not read English. If anyone can professionally translate this petition, it would mean a lot! Please let me know!

Capcom Knows It's Broken!

The developers themselves acknowledge that it is broken and unobtainable, but refuse to take necessary steps to rectify the issue.

After contacting Capcom Customer Support over two months and attempting to convince them, I finally received this reply:

We forwarded this inquiry to the development teams and they have responded the following:

We looked into this issue on our end, and confirmed that the achievement "The Ultimate" could not be unlocked due to problems.

We regret to inform you that this issue cannot be fixed since there are no plans for the title update going forward.

Therefore, we are unable to provide you solutions to resolve this issue. We apologize for the trouble it caused.

We'll pay close attention to our product development going forward and we won't let this happen again.
Your kind understanding would be much appreciated.

Expecting the developers to fix a decade old game is unrealistic. However, the Capcom Steamworks Team can remove the achievement in less than a minute - if they are instructed to.

Steamworks

Steam has a developer interface; Steamworks.

From Steamworks, a developer can remove achievements with ease.

Last year, I convinced the developers of Ravaged Zombie Apocalypse to remove a broken achievement. They were able to remove it within minutes.

This is what the website displays:

As you can see, clicking on the 'delete' option is all that is required.

this is quite unfortunate, especially since i did unlock all the achievements legitimately and i didn't unlock 'the ultimate' achievement :(

in the end, i just ended up using a software thing sometime ago that gave me the last achievement i deserved lmao. i'm not really into achievement hunting anyway, but best of luck to the petition

I got the idea from another game that has a broken achievement, but if you change the language of steam and the game, it's possible to get. So who knows....

Thanks for posting Rhy, I'm curious to see if this will change anything, however, I doubt it will.

The way achievements are constructed via Steamworks don't really rely on words, but the trigger itself, which is universal.

My assumption is that because this game was a port - the framework for the achievement systems is different, and hasn't been adapted for Steam, so the game doesn't register which achievements have been obtained.

We have no way of knowing though, since we don't have access to their Steamworks account.

I did send another email a few weeks ago with no reply. I'll keep trying periodically until I become a wizard.

To anyone who wants a chance at this achievement, I have a theory that I haven't been able to test but I think it might be the way to get the achievement.

The issue with the achievement is that its achievement name is different than the trigger. Therefore, I believe the solution may lie in the language.

To anyone who wish to give it a shot: when you have two achievements left (The Ultimate and one other,) close the game and then in the steam client, change your language to Japanese. Additionally, right click on the game in your library and change its language to Japanese. The play the game and get your second to last achievement.

I have no idea if this will work, and doesn't seem to work when you just have The Ultimate left (believe me, I've tried.) But, I'd like to see someone give it a shot because I can't justify sinking more hours into resetting my achievements and trying it....

Thank you for posting this I will sign it even though I don’t give a crap about mvc3 cause it’s a terrible sequel. This is still frickin wrong, and people trying to excuse literally hundreds of hours of peoples time not acknowledged is even worse.
