How to play Smite (New player and Returning Player Guide)

Don't play smite until Hirez fixes the server issues.
Over the last 2-3 season the servers that Hirez uses have been progressively worse. At this point, what you can expect: Smite Servers going down at least once per day (Being unable to login/queue for a match/drastically bad ping 300+). If you leave a match early you get a penalty and a timeout for being able to queue, this includes if you disconnect because the game servers go down. Below is a list of complains from recent player.

Hirez has continued to prove they are going to do nothing and just regularly blame DDOS attacks for the contact connectivity issues. "They are working on it" It has been literally years of server issues.

I have played since beta and put 3k hours into the game on steam alone, spent way too much money on skins/gems/events. I feel burnt and cannot continue playing Smite without ruining past good times.

You can find a infinite amount of posts with various issues all regarding server issues and the negative impact that it has on out player base. This goes from this week back 2-3 years. Multiple responses from Hirez with nothing positive happening for more than 1 patch.

I think the game is a place where I don't want to play and I don't think any new players will stick around after server issues in there first matches. Fix the servers or the game is going to die, This February is the first time that Smite has lost concurrent player count for that month since full launch.
