Description

Discover new worlds with the East Gateshead Orbit! The end of last year saw the return of The Orbit brand which operates around Gateshead and into Newcastle. This time it has come with a new refreshed look and newer buses to upgrade the existing service. The 51 and 52 Orbits Gateshead around Heworth and Wrekenton then flys across the Tyne Bridge into Newcastle every 15 minutes. Back in 2006, saw the original launch of the Orbit brand, and a batch of Scania Wright Solars were painted into the new livery. A few years later, they got replaced by new Optare Versas which were also painted into the same all-purple Orbit brand. Then in 2015, saw the Orbit brand launch off one last time and the service was merged into the already existing Quaylink brand. Along with the merge, It was also renumbered to the Q1 and Q2 and has been serving like this ever since. This meant that the Optare Versas have been serving the route for over 10 years and have done a great job but an upgrade was needed. It's great to see the Orbit 51 and 52 back on our streets once again looking better than ever orbiting the exact same route it did 6 years ago!
