Legacy Physx Software Info

Most of us if not all have the lastest version of Nvidia's Physx software installed already, well that is if you have a game that requires it and a lot of games do. The problem is Velvet Assassin is so old and is incomparable with the newest version of Physx.

Unfortunately the publisher and or Steam didn’t bother to include the Legacy version of Physx that the game requires so we have to do it ourselves.

So go to Nvidia and download the legacy Physx software* and install it.

NOTE: This is Nvidia software but has nothing to do with what brand video card you have in your system. So for instance if you have a AMD like I do, or any other card you still need it for the game to work period.

*Installing this version of Physx will not uninstall the latest version, it will install it in addition to the latest version. So be assured that you will still be able to play the games that need the latest version. Its software and not a driver so its just like installing two different pieces of software, the game decides what version to use.

TY LordTriton, Tomb Raider seems to be the only game that causes the black screen when exiting with the legacy software installed. All others work fine. I have already played through Tomb Raider enough times that it is no big deal.

@richrayer, Tomb Raider on the PC was one of the few blockbuster titles that features an AMD splash screen instead of the all-too-familiar “Nvidia: The way it’s meant to be played” one – so it’s fair to say that’s it was heavily optimized for AMD cards. In fact, it didn't work very well with Nvidia hardware at all – but most of that has been fixed by now I would assume. But some issues might still be present and or fixes might of not been made to accommodate the legacy software.

Velvet assassin works great with fix but try a newer game like Tomb Raider and when you exit that game, the video screen goes blank (black) and I have to reboot the system to get back to normal. This seems to corrupt the physx driver that Tomb Raider needs when the legacy is installed.
I have to uninstall the legacy and the current version and re-install the current version to get rid of the problem.
Anyone else experiencing this?
