Hello again.  Ahh Eredrim: Mortal Shell's Havel the Rock.  This shell cranks the defensive capabilities up to the max with a massive HP pool to go with it.  Surprising no one, Eredrim's weakest area is his stamina; it's the lowest of all the shells by a substantial amount.  Ironically, this really only limits his combo potential (at least with the lighter weapons) since his stamina regeneration still runs circles around Solomon's..  Eredrim is also the only shell without a quick dodge (I suppose his heavy armor being the reason).  It can still be accessed by standing still, but if a directional dodge is desired, it's rolls only for you!

Thanks to Eredrim's incredible resilience, the heal riposte is kind of a wasted choice.  I took this opportunity to demonstrate the absolute ridiculousness that is the Knotted riposte type.  This is actually the first time I've had access to it considering I've done the Seat of Infinity last in the previous runs and the player isn't awarded the the riposte type from the last boss before the final fight (just like in the campaign, actually..).  As you'll see here, instincts can make this is already powerful ability borderline broken.  I did, however, have an unfortunate mishap with its use in a previous run...

!!!! Virtuous Cycle PSA !!!!
I'd very much like to take a minute to acknowledge a potential soft-lock issue with the Knotted riposte in the Virtuous Cycle specifically. There are several instincts that can affect the riposte types in unique ways.  There is one in particular for the Knotted type with a particularly powerful effect.  Its name and description are as follows:

-You Were Never Here:
"Enemies struck while slowed have an X% chance to be removed from the timeline, killing them instantly."

To my surprise, I found out first hand this instinct CAN affect bosses--and you can probably now guess where this is going.  Should a boss be one-shot by this ability, they will disappear without the fight ever coming to an end, essentially soft-locking the player in the boss room.  It is, however, thankfully possible to simply exit to the main menu and restart the boss fight from there.  Obtaining this instinct will pretty much render the Knotted riposte too much of a gamble to be used against bosses, which is where it's most useful..  A shame.  Stay away from this instinct!

Heavy NOTE:  These runs will be completed using a file that has ALL of the Runic Gate upgrades maxed out, as well as the familiarity upgrades unlocked (this is required to use the other shades anyway) as it makes the runs considerably more forgiving and in my opinion, a far more enjoyable experience as a result.

Run notes:
With other shells, the beginning can be rough before obtaining helpful instincts.  Eredrim's defenses, however, make the section a breeze.  I also  felt a bit more confident skipping several areas to loot instincts.  It's only fitting then that I nearly lost at the final fight.  Harros was just refusing to let me deal with Eredrim and I was struggling to make good use of the short-ranged Hammer and Chisel here.
The other bosses, however, got turned into showcases for the Knotted riposte.  Tarsus barely got any attacks off..
While a bit scary near the end, not a bad run overall.
