Patient Suit

The "Patient Suit" is Isaac Clarke's starting outfit in Dead Space 2. This "suit" consists of a hospital outfit with a straightjacket attached. It is dirty and gray and splattered with the blood of Franco Delille. As expected, the Patient Suit gives no protection and has 10 inventory slots like the Level 1 RIG.

It is important to note that this suit has no helmet, stabilization thrusters or gravity boots, being designed only for hospital use. It seems to mostly be used to monitor the health and status of the hospital patients while restricting their movement when necessary. The Patient Suit is also equipped with drug injectors as it was seen via tubular attachments near the neck area of the RIG, most likely to keep the patients calm and relaxed. Isaac installs a Stasis Module and Kinesis Module to this suit during his hospital escape in Chapter 1. The modules were salvaged from medical machinery much like his makeshift Plasma Cutter and were used for therapy.

This suit starts out as a straightjacket, restricting Isaac to only walking, running and opening doors until cut open by Foster Edgars. The constraints appeared to be attached to a collection of belts around Isaac's waist.
It should be noted that, while the default Patient RIG does not offer armored protection, loading a Cleared Save will result in a visually unchanged suit, but with much more armor, equivalent to the amount of upgrades that are invested into the RIG's on the Cleared Save. If an Elite RIG variant is obtained on the Cleared Save by default, the Patient Suit will possess 25% armor.

Trivia
As it was mentioned above, the level of damage resistance of the suits from a previously Cleared Save will carry over to the Patient Suit upon starting a New Game+. The Suit oxygen upgrades are also present, but the vacuums still could not be entered unless a proper suit is put on.

It is unknown why exactly a hospital patient would need to have access to a Stasis Module while undergoing medical care. Yet, the Patient Suit has a Stasis Energy Meter on the RIG as it was just the same. Although, as the 'patients' were said to be concealed in Stasis chambers, the Patient Suit's Stasis Energy Meter could have been utilized to moderate the Stasis effect while they were held in containment.

Strangely, Isaac's health is only halfway when he is woken up by Franco and is even lower on the higher difficulty settings.
This suit was shown briefly in the Excavations trailer.
It is impossible to beat the game while wearing this suit as it lacks some of Isaac's most vital equipment.

If Isaac tries to open a door leading to vacuum in the first Chapter while wearing the Patient Suit, the door will lock and a computerized voice will warn the player of the impending doom behind the door. You can not open the door until you equip a different suit.
Unlike the other suits in Dead Space 2, the Store's Safe doesn't save this "suit" for reuse.
Though the visuals will be projected in front of the suit, there is no observable means for this to be done on the front of the suit.

Interestingly, this suit or at least the health hologram/diode apparatus is made by the CEC as a CEC logo is present to the left of the health bar and on the white spine assembly of the RIG.
The reason why Isaac probably didn't panic or struggle when Franco was transformed into a Necromorph before him could be due to a side effect of the Patient Suit's built-in drug injectors as he might have been medically sedated in some way prior to Franco's death.

Nolan Stross also wears this suit throughout the game, although his is clean of blood and is also a great deal more simplified compared to Isaac's, lacking sleeves and a straightjacket.
Using a Save Game editor, it is possible to retain this suit after the first Chapter. The suit retains the stats of the previously equipped suit; i.e if one had the Vintage Suit equipped, the Patient Suit will retain the 20 slots for items and so on.

Using the aforementioned editor to add the patient suit to the Safe, it is possible to equip the Patient Suit like any other stashed suit. Doing this results in Isaac playing the same animation back that's used for the Advanced Suit.

Engineering Suit

The CEC Engineering Suit (commonly called the Engineering Suit, dubbed the Dead Space Legends Suit in Dead Space 3) is a suit available for engineers. It is the first true suit obtainable in Dead Space 2, which can be bought at the first Store for 1000 Credits.

Description
"The Engineering Suit is a vintage C.E.C. uniform worn by mining and engineering personnel on the U.S.G. Ishimura. This suit was one of the first to feature an integrated RIG bio-sign monitoring system."
—Suit Kiosk description

The Engineering Suit is the standard exoskeleton for any active engineers. The chest area of the suit is padded with rib-like platings, likely to protect the wearer from machinery and occupational hazards. The suit's helmet is plated with armor and has several narrow slits for both vision and shielding from loose debris during duty. As with all of the suits in Dead Space 2, the Engineering Suit has thrusters located on the shoulders and legs of the suit. The helmet can fold into several different sections and be stored in the suit.

Like all suits, it is self-sealing. This means that if its external shell is punctured, or if a hazardous environment is detected, it will seal itself, allowing the wearer to enter a vacuum or another similarly hazardous environment.

Gameplay
The Engineering Suit provides 5% damage protection and 10 inventory slots. Unlike other suits obtained later on, the standard Engineering Suit does not confer any additional bonuses upon starting a New Game+.

Trivia
It has 10% armor in the Dead Space 2 demo.
It costs 1,000 Credits, making it the cheapest suit that isn't a download (besides the Riot Security Suit, which is unlocked after completing the game).

Though not identical, it bears a great resemblance to the Intermediate Engineer RIG from the original Dead Space, which served as the suit featured in the game's advertising and previews. While similar design-wise, the CEC Engineering suit appears to be more skin-tight than the Intermediate Engineer RIG, and sports more armor plating.

Despite an open slot appearing on the left forearm in the vein of the Stasis/Kinesis module from Dead Space's RIG suits, once the suit has been equipped the Stasis and Kinesis modules vanish from sight, leaving the slot empty.

Oddly, the helmet's faceplace is colored silver, unlike the primarily orange-colored plating on the rest of the suit. When the suit appears in Dead Space 2's storage or store however, the faceplate appears orange.

The Engineering Suit has no special perks, unlike the other suits you can purchase.
There is an Elite version you get after completing the game which costs 11,000 Credits. It looks the same as the original Engineering Suit, except it is a bright yellow/gold, and Med Packs restore 15% more health.

When equipping the helmet, Isaac's neck will be exposed, but a membrane of some sort will emerge from the suit to form the seal, while other suits have seals that the helmet assembles around. Similar to the first game, Isaac's chin is visible underneath the helmet at certain angles, showing the membrane also covers more than just his neck.

Even though Isaac is seen wearing the Advanced Suit in almost all the advertisement of Dead Space 2, he can also be seen wearing this suit during trailers.
Isaac visibly approves of the suit when donning it; a slight smirk and nod of approval can be seen in the video below at around 0:13 seconds.

In addition to this, it is the only suit that Isaac is explicitly shown to alter, albeit in a slight manner. After coming out of the shop and inspecting his left arm, Isaac shifts the plating on his right bicep to a more forward position, as opposed to being directly on the side of his arm.

The suit Kiosks in Dead Space 3 describe the suit as being a "vintage" suit, this is either referring to an older model of the suit as this specific variant was not used on the USG Ishimura. Alternatively, the engineer rigs (as used by Isaac) were being phased out (much like the Ishimura they are associated with) in favor of a newer/unseen model. As it is unlikely that Isaac returned to work for the CEC following the end of Dead Space 2, he simply may not have had access to the newer model.

This suit is available to Isaac in Dead Space 3 for completing the game on any difficulty. Its appearance is unaltered from its Dead Space 2 model. The suit also unlocks the full 25 Inventory slots, which makes starting a New Game on Classic/Pure Survival/Hardcore somewhat easier.
In Dead Space 3, this suit is only available to Isaac.

The Engineering suit is Isaac's secondary costume in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, with its colors being the Scorpion Suit, Obsidian Suit, and Elite Suit.

The suit's holographic display is connected fully the suit itself rather than by a small hinge, making cutscenes where holographic displays get folded in glitches the CEC Engineering Suit's out and making the display disappear entirely.

Security Suit

The Security Suit is a uniform worn by EarthGov’s Titan Security Force, an elite corps of soldiers was charged with promoting peace through strength aboard Titan Station. The Schematic can be found in Chapter 4, in the church after a malfunctioning door that requires stasis to pass.

The Security Suit makes an appearance in Dead Space 3, where it is available exclusively to John Carver upon completion of the main campaign, similar to how the Engineering Suit is accessible to Isaac Clarke.

Description
It features, like the other suits in Dead Space 2, movement thrusters located on the shoulders and lower legs, and a folding helmet that can be stored in the suit's Holographic Projectors. However, it offers more armor and padding than a standard Security Suit, including shoulder plating, a neck guard, pauldrons and arm plates, etc. The helmet seems to be designed to offer maximum protection, as well.

The Security Suit has a total of 15 inventory slots and 10% damage resistance. When equipped to Isaac, the suit provides an extra 5% bonus damage for the Pulse Rifle.

The Dead Space 3 version, being a Carver-only suit, has red lights coming out of its visor, along with a blue health bar. Note that the health line still uses the Dead Space 2 model and not the shell-pod stacks like in the new game.

Trivia
All Security Suits displays a wanted order of Nolan Stross on their chest holo projector.
The Zealot RIG with the Collector's Edition appears to be the equivalent of the Security Suit. Offering 15% damage resistance and 15 inventory slots. However, the Zealot RIG gives its 5% Damage Bonus to the Force Gun or Zealot Force Gun.

All of the security personnel encountered in Dead Space 2 use suits that seem to be on par with Standard Engineer Suit in terms of overall protection from Necromorph attacks. The security suits however are generally more well-armored, though seemingly only focused on knife and blunt weapon protection, given that the armor mainly covers the most vital areas of the body and little else. They lack a mounted holo projector, but as seen with various deceased officers, there is still a module on the chest piece of the suit capable of displaying RIGlink. A variant of this suit appears in Dead Space 3 used by Lunar police officers on New Horizons colony which features a lighter shade of blue, gold trim, and decals likely indicating an officer's unit.

The Security Suit has the most palette swaps in Dead Space 2, even excluding DLC suits.
Not counting DLC and Elite suits, all Security RIG variations offers the highest damage resistance of all RIGs wearable.
There is a bug that causes some suits to conflict with each other in the Store (Security, Zealot and Hacker Suits are reported to have this problem); This leads to the following: If you are wearing the Security Suit, and purchase the Zealot Suit, the former will be transferred back to the Store instead of the Safe, and you will have to pay 20,000 Credits to re-equip the Security Suit again, and vice-versa. Oddly enough, this bug does not interfere with the DLC Security type Suits.

If one positions the camera at the right angle, they can notice that the Security Suit model's helmet visors create the illusion of a malevolent smiley face.
While in the NoonTech Diagnostic Machine, the holoprojector of the Security Suit (along with all other variants of it) flips closed.

The Security Suit, and all subsequent palette swaps of it, seems to be uncomfortable for the wearer, as Isaac attempts to stretch and loosen the neck collar as he dons the suit.
In Battlefield Heroes, the Security Suit appears as a wearable item, but appears as the "Titan Security Suit"

After beating Dead Space 3, it is available to Carver for Co-op but with a red visor and a dark blue health meter.
In the pc version of Dead Space 3. Equipping the Security Suit will make Carver's voice and sound effects disappear. This is a bug which have not been fixed.

On very close inspection, the eye slit that is supposed to be at eye level is actually at Isaac or Carver's nose, the eye being obstructed by the larger plating over the forehead.

Vintage Suit

The Vintage Suit is a suit obtainable in Dead Space 2. Wearing it provides Isaac with a resistance to 15% damage, 20 inventory slots and a 10% discount for all items in the Store. Despite its bulky appearance, it does not slow Isaac down.

Description
It is an old, antiquated CEC suit, consisting of a bulky brown space suit and a folding utility space helmet, as well as other various equipment, including an oxygen tank on the left shoulder plate, a heads-up display/holographic projector on the sternum, and a calculator on the left sleeve. The suit possesses various other tools necessary for a space walk.

Compared to later models, all of the above are noticeably outdated; for example, rather than being integrated inside of the suit, the oxygen tank is clearly visible on the outside.

Location
The schematic can be found in a Power Node locked room early on in Chapter 8. If not picked up here it will be added to the store automatically in a later chapter. It can be purchased for 40'000 credits.

Trivia
The suit's appearance is based partly on present-day EVA space suits and partly on old-fashioned deep diving suits. Isaac is wearing an under-armor jumpsuit covering his entire body, which is used to protect soft tissue from moving parts inside the suit and the heat of working in it under stressful situations, such as during EVA.

Unlike other suits in Dead Space 2, the Vintage Suit only has thrusters on the feet, not the scapulas. It doesn't affect mobility in Zero-G, however.

This suit features a Bio-sign monitoring system, it's unknown if the Vintage Suit canonically had this system or if this particular Vintage Suit has simply been retrofitted with one.

In the Transport Hub, where the player meets up with Ellie and Stross, a Vintage Suit can be found on display behind a glass window at the CEC store, and that place is in fact where the Schematic for the Elite Vintage Suit can be found in New Game+.

Some players have noted that the Vintage Suit slightly resembles the Rosie Big Daddy diving suit from Bioshock.

This is the only suit that has a head cover going over Isaac's head, also known as a "Snoopy Cap". The helmet of the Vintage Suit also unfolds from behind then expands to fully cover Isaac's head, unlike other suits which has a face-mask helmet design.

Since none of the RIGs in Dead Space 3 (which are over 200 years old) have a visible oxygen tank, the Vintage Suit may be the oldest RIG in the series and one of the first RIGs to use oxygen. The suit's rusted and bulky appearance also indicates that it's very old.

The helmet of the suit is collapsed into the heath display alone due to the holographic display being too small to encapsulate the bulky helmet.

It is also notable that the holographic display is like that of the Arctic Survival Suit, having a screen held up by standoffs rather than being projected as a hologram. This could mean that both these suit are made at around the same time as one another though the Arctic Survival Suit is slightly more advanced, having a built in oxygen tank and a more compact helmet, allowing part of it to be stored within the holo display.

Advanced Suit

The Advanced Suit is a state-of-the-art suit used by elite combat teams. Like the other suits in Dead Space 2, thrusters are located on the legs and clavicles and also includes a separating, folding helmet. The Schematic of this suit is found in Chapter 11, in a Power Node storage room shortly before Isaac is attacked by Nolan Stross. It offers 25 inventory slots and 20% armor, and gives a passive bonus of decreasing the recharge time on your Stasis Module by 50%.

Since 2020 this suit is also available in Dead Space 3, but only for PC version. It is required to include modifications in the installed version of the game to access this suit in the Suit Kiosk. (for details see internet tutorials by typing e.g. "Dead Space 3 advanced suit mod how to install" in any web browser)

Description
This suit relies on highly classified technology and is intended for elite forces operating in dangerous situations and the harshest of environments. Like all other full-body vacuum-rated suits, the Advanced Suit is self-sealing, meaning that it will seal itself if punctured or otherwise damaged in a manner which compromises the wearer's exposure. This allows operators to work in the vacuum of space or other similarly hazardous environments.

Gameplay
The suit costs 40,000 Credits at the Store, or 36,000 with the Vintage Suit on. The Advanced Suit has a special feature that halves Stasis recharge time, further enhancing the lethality of the Advanced Suit. It is the best suit available in the first playthrough of Dead Space 2.

Trivia
The Advanced suit is the last suit you find in your first playthrough.
The Advanced Suit is for use in high mobility situations, and as such, is most likely made of a stretchable material, thus explaining the lack of armor around joints.

The Advanced Suit may be completely foreign to Isaac, as he is seen glancing at the arms of the suit and also rolling his shoulders to test its flexibility.
In the Dead Space 2 demo, the Advanced Suit features a passive bonus that gives all weapons a 15% bonus to damage. In the final game, however, the weapon bonus was omitted from this suit and instead added to the Elite Advanced Suit.

Note on the box cover depicting the Advanced Suit's front helmet, Isaac's eyes are visible through the top eye slit. There is also a Marker Symbol above his left eye.
Like the Intermediate Engineering Suit in Dead Space and Arctic Survival Suit in Dead Space 3, the Advanced Suit is featured in almost all of the advertisements for Dead Space 2.

When Isaac steps out of the Store after purchasing this suit, as with the other suits, the shoulder thrusters will lift. The Advanced Suit has three plates that lift, but only two over Isaac's shoulders will move during Zero-G gameplay. However, the third piece will move occasionally when boosting backwards and turning.

In Battlefield 3's Multiplayer map, "Epicenter" from the "Aftermath" update, there is an Easter Egg where you can find the Advanced Suit's helmet making breathing sounds in regular intervals.
The suit was featured in many of the early Dead Space 3 promotional trailers, stills and demo materials. The suit appeared badly worn and damaged; portions torn off and the armor dented, likely from the crash on Tau Volantis. The Advanced Suit was eventually cut from the final game however, being replaced with the EVA Suit. But still remains in the game files and is fully usable, however only for PC version of the game.

The helmet design of the suit sees return in Dead Space 3, however, in the form of the Arctic Survival Suit's helmet (and its variants), albeit with minor changes. Notable rehash points are the face plating of the advanced suit with the back end being that of the engineering suit's helm design. The Arctic Survival Suit's helmet also features a cloth face mask instead of a metallic one like the Advanced Suit.

The suit became available for PC version of Dead Space 3 since 2020. On the internet there are tutorials showing how to access the Advanced Suit for PC version of Dead Space 3. See for example this tutorial: https://www.reddit.com/r/DeadSpace/comments/hsxb7y/how_to_unlock_the_advanced_suit_and_more_in_dead/

The PC version of Dead Space 3 contains 3 variants of the Advanced Suit: clean, dirty, torn version. Torn version is however unavailable in Suit Kiosk.

Despite being of the most streamlined suit in the Dead Space universe thus far, the Advanced Suit has the bulkiest holoprojector. Even when flipped up, it still protrudes until just before Isaac's chin ends. The projector's display will also clip through Isaac's arm and face when he equips a large two-handed weapon such as the Seeker Rifle.

The Advanced Suit is Isaac's third alternate costume in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
The Advanced Suit and all of its iterations feature a small rectangular prism with a blue lens in the middle mounted above the faceplate. Judging from what this suit is usually used for, it is most likely a camera.

In scene where the holo-display are folded in, the one on the Advanced Suit somehow folds in even when the display itself is held with an orange cover, though it could be speculated that it's a strechable material used to hide the hinge and to hold it back in case it gets detached (as seen at final cutscene of Dead Space 3, where any and all suit's holo-display is detached, leaving only the knuckles of the hinge on the suit's part).

Elite Engineering Suit

The Elite Engineering Suit is an unlockable suit for Dead Space 2 after beating the game. The suit has the same design as the regular Engineering Suit, though the plating is crisp yellow instead of brown. It has 25 inventory slots and 25% armor. The suit's bonus gives 15% more health from Med Packs. It costs 11,000 Credits at the Store.

As with all Elite suits, the only benefit to buying it is the bonus effect as there is no increase in armor or inventory space to the Riot Security Suit obtained for free at the start of New Game+

Trivia
Unlike the Engineering suit, which has a silver faceplate and orange body plating, the Elite Engineering Suit's plating is golden yellow with a matching faceplate, similar to the suits from Dead Space.

Wearing this suit makes it harder to accurately monitor Isaac's health, as the gold-yellow plating of the back armor turns the glow of the health bar into a greenish-cyan color, similar to when Isaac has a less-than-full bar.

Elite Security Suit

The Elite Security Suit is an unlockable suit in Dead Space 2, the schematic for which only appears after beating the game. Like the Security Suit, it has the same armor type, but has a different color scheme, being merely a palette swap of the original, like many other suits.

Effects
The suit increases the Javelin Gun's damage by 15% and has 25% armor and 25 inventory slots.
As with all Elite suits, the only benefit to buying it is the bonus effect it offers as there is no increase in armor or inventory space to the Riot Security Suit obtained for free at the start of New Game+. It costs 30,000 credits to purchase.

Location
The Schematic for this suit can be found in Chapter 9, in the platform area immediately after Isaac left the tram to find out what is blocking the loading path. It can be obtained by looking over the railing and using Kinesis to grab it. Just go to the very right and look at the ground. As with all the elite suits, the game must have been previously completed in order to obtain this schematic.

NOTE: There is a rare bug that causes the schematic to disappear from this location, making the suit unobtainable.

Appearance
The Elite Security Suit has a checkerboard digital camo pattern on helmet (mostly seen on forehead), on the wrist, and on the collar. The undersuit is gray instead of the Security Suit's black, most noticeably on the shoulder pads. The left pauldron is printed with the word "SWAT", suggesting this is a special forces suit, and the numbers "1002" on the right arm.
It bears much resemblance to the Urban Camo military suit in multiplayer.

Bug
Similar to the Arctic Security Suit and Riot Security Suit, there is a scripting problem with this RIG's equipping animation. Normally, when this suit is put on, Isaac would not have anything equipped, but the damage-boosted Javelin Gun, if present in Isaac's inventory, can be seen attached to his right hand and will clip through the suit (and Isaac's head) when Isaac stretches the collar section.
Also, the Javelin Gun will automatically be equipped upon wearing the suit.

Arctic Security Suit

The Arctic Security Suit is a variation of the normal Security Suit. The suit is obtained for free after starting a New Game+ with a save completed on Zealot difficulty. Judging by the badge on the left armlet, this particular arctic suit is probably used by soldiers on reconnaissance missions in harsh cold environments.

Overview
The suit differs from the normal Security Suit in that the bodysuit is a light grey and the undervest white, while the armor and helmet bear a digital camouflage pattern of grey and dark grey pixels on a white background. The right brassard bears the triple chevron rank insignia of an Army Sergeant, while the left armlet bears the words "ARCTIC RECON" etched on it. On both armlets, there is a skull etched on them reminiscent of the Visceral Games logo.

Trivia
This suit appears to have been a hint to the setting of Dead Space 3. Its arctic camouflaged pattern hinted toward Tau Volantis's arctic environment, and rank on it is the same as John Carver's rank.
This suit somewhat resembles the Hostile Environment Suit in Dead Space 3 in function.
A bug exists within this RIG's equipping animation. Normally, when a suit is put on, Isaac would not have anything equipped, but the damage-boosted Flamethrower, if present in Isaac's inventory, can be seen attached to his right hand and will clip through the suit when Isaac stretches the collar section.

Also, the Flamethrower will automatically be equipped upon wearing the suit
This is all likely in reference to The Thing given its arctic setting, a flamethrower being used against its titular monster and its notable influence on the Dead Space series.
The Suit is referred to as a 'desert' uniform in the game files (most likely due to the fact that the Arctic is a desert itself).

Riot Security Suit

The Riot Police Security Suit is unlocked after beating Dead Space 2 on the first playthrough. The suit is based off the Security Suit, and is another palette swap of the original. This suit is worn by riot security officers.

Description
Like the Security Suit, it's merely a palette swap. The color scheme is similar to the Elite Security Suit, the only differences being:

The suit is noticeably more black than the Elite Security Suit.
Has a red checkerboard design at the tip of neck guard, and above the word "POLICE" on the shoulder guard.

Still bearing the words "POLICE" on Isaac's arms, instead of having "SWAT", like the Elite Security Suit. It also has the same number as the Elite Security Suit; "1002" can be seen on the helmet, while in the Elite Security Suit, the number can be seen on the right arm.
It looks like the Solid Black suit from multiplayer.

The Riot Security Suit features, like other suits in Dead Space 2, movement thrusters located on the shoulders and lower legs, as well as a folding helmet which can be stored within the suit's holographic projector. Also, like all other full-body vacuum-rated suits, the Riot Security Suit features self-sealing technology, meaning that it will seal itself if punctured or otherwise damaged in a manner which compromises the wearer's exposure. This allows operators to work in the vacuum of space or other similarly hazardous environments, even after sustaining damage.

Trivia
The suit has the highest armor rating possible for a second playthrough. Since it's available for free and all suits retain the highest amount of armor and inventory slots, it is always a good idea to grab this suit.

Riot shields are seen used by Sprawl Security in the Government Sector; it's likely that there were riot officers present at some point.

If you start a New Game (not New Game+ or on Hard Core), you can access this suit at the very first Store if you already beat the game on a separate save file. This might be a glitch that the developers overlooked.

In Dead Space: Catalyst it is mentioned that the security personnel at the penal colony on Aspera wear this RIG.

Bug
Similar to the Arctic Security Suit and Elite Security Suit, there is a scripting problem with this RIG's equipping animation. Normally, when this suit is put on, Isaac would not have anything equipped, but the damage-boosted Contact Beam, if present in Isaac's inventory, can be seen attached to his right hand and will clip through the suit (and Isaac's head) when Isaac stretches the collar section.
Also, the Contact Beam will automatically be equipped upon wearing the suit.

Soldier Suit

The Soldier Suit is a suit unlocked by completing Hard Core Mode. Presumably, it is the standard wear and gear utilized and worn by members of an EarthGov colony's local armed force.

Gameplay
The Soldier Suit has a total of 25 inventory slots and 25% damage resistance. When equipped, the suit provides a 10% damage bonus for the Seeker Rifle.

Appearance
The suit is composed of several armor plates (cuirass, greaves, poleyns, vambraces, brassards), a fully head-encapsulating combat helmet, a thick, hermetically sealed, protective bodysuit, and a military-grade duty belt bearing miscellaneous equipment; as well, pouches and other load-bearing features are included. The helmet and armor are covered in a digital camouflage pattern, composed of black and dark grey pixels imposed on a light grey background, while the bodysuit is predominantly black with a protective olive green under-vest and padding. The shoulder pads and helmet bear a logo featuring a red circle with white stripes and the words "COLONY ARMED FORCE".

Zealot Suit

The Zealot Suit is based on the Tank RIG from Dead Space - both having Marker Symbols, although the Zealot Suit's colouring is drastically different. As with all of the suits in Dead Space 2, the Zealot Suit has thrusters located on the shoulders and legs of the suit, and the helmet can fold into several different sections and be stored in the suit's holographic projectors. Isaac is first able to wear this suit in Chapter 1. It can also be used in Dead Space 2: Severed.

Appearance
The Zealot Suit has some mild changes from the original Security Suit. Some key differences being:

Red/white/black color scheme.
Absent markings of any known Sprawl Security unit.
Being covered in Marker Symbols and common graffiti patterns.

Notes
It gives +15% armor, 15 inventory slots and +5% damage when using the Zealot Force Gun. Remember: acquiring a suit with a higher amount of inventory slots and/or percentage of armor will make these better stats carry over to any other suit you wear.

It is only available to those who bought the Collector's Edition copy of the game.
This suit is also available for multiplayer, but confers no bonus.
The Zealot Force Gun is not in Multiplayer for balance reasons, as it would give an unfair advantage over the Necromorph team at early levels.

In Dead Space, the Tank suit also sported Marker Symbols. Then, in Dead Space 3, the Witness Suit (Exclusive to Limited Edition holders and those who buy the Witness the Truth Bundle) bore the same markings, making the suits unique appearance a sort of recurring tradition.
In the game files, the suit is referred as the "Collector's suit".

The suit has a slightly different appearance in Multiplayer, missing the front holographic projector as well as the helmet effects found in Single Player.

There is a glitch with the Security suit and the Zealot suit where if you put them both in the Vault/Safe The Security suit/Zealot suit will disappear.

Elite Vintage Suit

The Elite Vintage Suit appears in Dead Space 2. Available only after the game is completed at least once, its schematic is found at the area in which you fight the Brute right before the end of Chapter 6, in the display case of the Vintage Suit. It can be then bought from the store for 50,000 Credits.

As with all Elite suits, the only benefit to buying it is the bonus effect it offers as there is no increase in armor or inventory space to the Riot Security Suit obtained for free at the start of New Game+.

Appearance
The Elite Vintage Suit has some mild changes from the Vintage Suit. Some key differences being:

The suit's texture looks much cleaner.
Colour scheme is pale gray/yellow, almost like a modern-day astronaut, instead of dark brown of the original suit.

Trivia
The Elite Vintage Suit actually has a discount rate of 15.001% most noticed when buying Elite Advanced Suit, a normal value of 50,000, it becomes a price of 42,499.

The Elite Advanced Suit gives you 25% armor protection, 25 inventory slots, 10% damage boost to all of your weapons and a 15% boost to your Stasis duration.

Location
The Elite Advanced Suit will be found near the end of your second playthrough of Chapter 11. After taking the large yellow elevator up and defeating the large Necromorph group, instead of exiting the elevator, turn around and you should see the Schematic in front of you just beyond your normal reach. Use Kinesis to pull it over to you and pick it up.

Appearance
The appearance of the Elite Advanced Suit and the Advanced Suit are slightly different, some key differences being:

Armor pieces being a black color.
Armor pieces having a texture which resembles carbon fiber.
Some suit parts colored a midnight purple or blue.

Trivia
There was a glitch in the PC version that didn't allow people to get the Elite suits and the Hand Cannon without downloading a modded save file. This has since been patched.

If observed carefully, the Elite Advanced Suit is NOT air-tight, as Isaac's neck is not fully covered by the folding helmet or the suit collar, small parts of Isaac's skin can be seen from behind the helmet. This is most easily seen during the suit-equipping cinematic. This is likely a developer oversight, as the standard Advanced Suit does not have this problem.

This suit has a problem identical to the Zealot / Security Suit safe issue. It cannot be kept in your safe at the same time as the Hacker Suit; one will be deleted upon equipping the other. In order to get the deleted suit back, you must find its Schematic again.

It would seem that the Hologram Projector on the chest is too physically prominent, and would in actuality slightly impede a person's movement. However, this is only when the player is holding a gun (it is most obvious if holding a longer gun, i.e. the Pulse Rifle, the Contact Beam, the Javelin Gun, e.t.c.). This trait can also be seen on the other versions of the Advanced Suit.
Strangely, the Schematic and non-Store inventory name for this suit is "Advanced Elite Suit". In the store however, it is given as "Elite Advanced Suit".

Since the suit has carbon fiber on it, the suit can be more flexible, withstand high amounts of heat and low temperatures, and to note that carbon fiber is one of the most expensive types of fiber. This makes the cost in Credits make sense.

When buying this suit while wearing the Elite Vintage Suit, the cost is 42,499 credits, instead of 42,500, which is 15% less than the original 50,000.

This suit appeared in early Dead Space 3 trailers and art, but was apparently cut from the game. Several clips in an early trailer show Isaac in a heavily damaged Elite Advanced Suit on Tau Volantis, and an intact one in space scenes. The reason for it being cut is unclear.

This was Isaac's third costume for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

War Torn Suit

The War Torn Suit is a suit that is available in Dead Space 2 Multiplayer.

Overview
The War Torn Suit has an overall dark grey color scheme with excessive amounts of blood drenching it. The body and leg armor is mainly plain gray with blood, while the undersuit is completely black. The suit, like all other Security Suit variants, has ammo pouches on the waist which are purely cosmetic. The War Torn Suit does not provide any advantages or benefits.

Trivia
The concept of the suit is similar to the Bloody Vintage Suit in which both suits are covered with blood.

Visceral Games Suit

The Visceral Games Suit is a suit that is available in Dead Space 2 Multiplayer.

Overview
The Visceral Games Suit has an overall grey color scheme. The body and leg armor is mainly gun metal gray, while the undersuit is completely grey with black accents. This suit, like all other Security Suit variants, has ammo pouches on the waist which are purely cosmetic. The Visceral Games Suit does not provide any advantages or benefits.

Trivia
This suit is named after Visceral Games, the creators of the Dead Space series.

Forged Engineering Suit

The Forged Engineering Suit is a variant of the Engineering Suit introduced in the Supernova DLC, along with the Agility Advanced Suit and Heavy-Duty Vintage Suit for Dead Space 2. The suit is designed to be streamlined to allow better delivery of medical restoratives, allowing for more effective healing. It also comes with three matching weapons.

Gameplay
Having the added bonus of giving an additional 15% healing bonus to each Med Pack, this suit can be considered as one of the ideal suits for challenging Hard Core mode, that is if players haven't beaten Zealot mode. Being a DLC suit, it will cost 0 Credits and is available at any Store. The suit provides 15% damage protection and 15 inventory slots, and retains the highest upgrade of armor and inventory.

Protection Rating

Hazard Engineering Suit

The Hazard Engineering Suit is a suit that is obtained with the Hazard DLC, along with the Shockpoint Advanced Suit and the Triage Security Suit for Dead Space 2. It is somewhat dirty in appearance, with an overall tarnished/rusty texture that states its use might be for recycling and/or waste removal like in Chapter 3 (DS2). Since it is DLC, it is of no cost to the player.

Gameplay
The Hazard Engineering Suit provides a 10% bonus to healing effects and guarantees 15% damage reduction with 15 inventory slots. It also come with a matching Hazard Line Gun.

Trivia
What makes this suit unique are the words "Playing Dirty" written messily on the left leg, as well as the alternate logo printed on the left arm.

Due to an oversight, this suit uses the Elite Advanced Suit's image in the Store.
This suit comes with only one skinned weapon, like all others in this pack.

The Line Gun that comes with the suit has some other writing on it (possibly graffiti), and also retains a tarnished, dirty, or rusty look.

EarthGov Security Suit

The EarthGov Security Suit is a suit included in the Martial Law DLC along with the Bloody Vintage Suit. The name and appearance of the suit suggest that it is used by the Earth Government's Defense Forces.

Gameplay
It provides 5% more damage to the Detonator, Seeker Rifle and Pulse Rifle and it has 15% damage protection and 15 inventory slots.

Appearance
The suit is composed of several armour plates (cuirass, greaves, poleyns, vambraces, brassards), a fully head-encapsulating combat helmet, a thick, hermetically sealed, protective bodysuit, and a military-grade duty belt bearing miscellaneous equipment. The helmet and armour are covered in a digital camouflage pattern, composed of brown and olive pixels imposed on a tan background, while the bodysuit is predominantly grey/black with a protective tan under-vest and padding. The left brassard bears a white ring with a secantial cross, whereas the right armlet bears a white 6; both bear the words "EARTH GOV" printed directly beneath. The circular symbol also appears in black on the right upper poleyn, while the number 6 is printed on the back of the combat helmet and, in black, as "EG-6" on the collar of the cuirass. It would appear that "6" is indicative of a military or security forces unit.

Trivia
Gabe Weller can also wear this suit in Severed.

Protection Rating

Triage Suit

The Triage Suit is one of the DLC suits obtained with the Hazard DLC along with the Shockpoint Advanced Suit and the Hazard Engineering Suit.
As a DLC suit, it cost 0 Credits and available in any Store.

Appearance
It is a palette swap of the Security Suit but has a red underlayer, with white and gray armor plating. The shoulder plates and back of the helmet bears the words ODE, 27, and a semi-circled A. It is probably a combat medic armor as it features a medical red cross on its plates.

Gameplay
It provides 15% damage protection and 15 inventory slots, making it ideal for a head start in the campaign. Its special function is a 5% increase in stasis duration. As it was speculated to be a combat medic's armor, the augmented stasis duration is likely for emergency deployment during combat, where fatal injuries happens quickly and reaction time is limited. A stasised patient/soldier experiences slower bodily functions or limited progression of shock, infection and blood loss, etc...thus allowing doctors to treat them without danger of patient death.

Trivia
Triage is a term used to describe the method of selecting who will be treated based on their injuries. The more severe the injury, the higher the priority to treat the patient. Triage is also the stage where patients who are too far gone to save are identified so people with better chances of survival can be treated instead.

The Triage Security Suit comes with a matching Triage Javelin Gun.
It's color scheme and armor plates are very similar to the appearance of Ratchet from the various Transformers continuities.

It resembles the suit Isabel Cho wore when she found the Marker fragment on Aegis VII in Dead Space: Aftermath.

Patrol Suit

The Patrol Suit appears in Dead Space 2 and in the DLC Dead Space 2: Severed. It appears to be constructed upon a base Security Suit with several modifications such as an alternative camo scheme and re-designed helmet. The suit is worn by EarthGov security officers on patrol duty.

Appearance
Like the Riot and Elite Security Suit, it is merely a re-skin of the original Security Suit. The Patrol Suit features an orange camouflage scheme and is personalized with the security logo and the name G.Weller printed onto the shoulder, back armor and neck collar, respectively. However its appearance differs in Dead Space 2: Severed, the helmet is changed significantly now featuring lenses rather than slits for vision.

Trivia
This suit is used by Gabe Weller in his role as Security Officer In Severed. It is still unclear why would Gabe, and Gabe alone, possess such a unique RIG compared to his colleagues and superior. The peculiar design of his suit, particularly his helmet however, may suggest that Gabe is a designated sniper of the squad. His also unique Patrol Seeker Rifle backs this up even further.
The suit's set of monocular optics emits an orange light, and is the only RIG helmet in the series to do so.

The suit's helmet is blown open at the end of Severed by Victor Bartlett's hand grenade. If another suit is equipped instead of the Patrol Suit, only Gabe's leg will be severed while the helmet remains intact. Steam and sparks will still emit from where the rupture is supposed to be.
This suit, along with the matching Seeker Rifle, is unlocked in Dead Space 2 by purchasing Dead Space 2: Severed. However it uses the Security Suit Visor rather than the lenses for unknown reasons.

In both Severed and the main game, G. Weller is printed on the collar of the suit.
Similarly to Isaac and his Advanced Suit, Gabe is seen wearing the Patrol Suit in all of the advertisement for Severed.

Bloody Vintage Suit

The Bloody Vintage Suit is a suit included in the Martial Law DLC; the other suit being the EarthGov Security Suit for Dead Space 2.

Appearance
The only difference between this suit and the other Vintage Suits are its color scheme and the fact that it is splattered with blood.

Gameplay
Being a DLC suit, it costs 0 Credits and is available in any Store. The suit provides 15% damage protection and 15 inventory slots, as well as a 5% damage bonus to the Flamethrower, Javelin Gun and the Force Gun (which have their own bloody color scheme).

Heavy-Duty Vintage Suit

The Heavy-Duty Vintage Suit is a suit introduced in the Supernova DLC, along with the Agility Advanced Suit and the Forged Engineering Suit for Dead Space 2. It is a variant of the Vintage Suit. It comes with 3 matching weapons.

Gameplay
Being a DLC suit, it costs 0 Credits and is available at any Store. The suit gives a minimum of 15 inventory slots and 15% armor, retaining the highest upgrade of armor and inventory. It also has an added weapon bonus of giving a 5% damage increase to the Line Gun, Contact Beam, and Detonator.

Appearance
There are some mild changes from the Vintage Suit, the key differences being the color scheme and it appearing to be splattered with oil and other mechanical fluids.

Bugs/Glitches
Although this is a Vintage Suit and there are no boosters on the shoulders, smoke can be seen coming from non-existent boosters. (PS3) (Xbox 360)

Agility Advanced Suit

The Agility Advanced Suit is a suit introduced in the Supernova DLC along with the Forged Engineering Suit and the Heavy-Duty Vintage Suit for Dead Space 2. It is a variant of the Advanced Suit, and comes with 3 matching weapons.

Gameplay
Being a DLC suit, it will cost 0 Credits and is available at any Store. It gives a minimum of 15 inventory slots and 15% armor, retaining the highest upgrade of armor and inventory. It also has the added bonus of giving an additional 10% increase in Stasis Duration.

Appearance
The suit has some red texture on the helmet and on the shoulders. The helmet differs from the Advanced Suit, which has some black markings on it. Several parts are colored white such as the legs, the wrist and the hips.

Trivia
Given its similar color scheme and bonus to the Triage Suit, this suit may be used by more advanced medical personnel.
Since the normal Advanced Suit is used only by elite combat teams, it can be assumed that this suit is used by designated medics on those teams.

Protection Rating

Shockpoint Advanced Suit

The Shockpoint Advanced Suit is a suit included in the Hazard Pack DLC, along with the Hazard Engineering Suit and the Triage Security Suit.

Gameplay
Being a DLC suit, it will cost 0 Credits and is available at any Store. It gives a minimum of 15 inventory slots and 15% armor, retaining the highest upgrade of armor and inventory. While a better suit during the early stages of the game, once the default Advanced Suit is acquired, the Shockpoint Advanced Suit quickly becomes obsolete. This is because the standard suit offers the player a Stasis recharge time reduction of a whopping 50%.

Appearance
The Shockpoint Advanced Suit is a palette swap of the original Advanced Suit, with mustard yellow face plate, legs, groin and holoprojector, while the forearms and body is light blue.

Trivia
The Advance Suit-based design, along with the color scheme makes this suit greatly resembles Grey Fox's Exoskeleton from the videogame Metal Gear Solid.

Since this suit appears to be an inferior version of the normal Advanced Suit, having lesser improvements of the same stats, then it may have been a prototype of the Advanced Suit.
The normal Advanced Suit is used by elite combat teams. Judging from its name and stats, the Shockpoint Suit may be used by the ship pilots of those combat teams, who see less action, and therefore, need less armor.

Hacker Suit

The Hacker Suit was a special suit that could be unlocked only by having a save file from Dead Space: Ignition on the console's hard drive in order to use it in Dead Space 2. It could be found in the second Conduit Room in Chapter 2: I Need Transportation. It was also the initial suit used in Dead Space 3.

Appearance
The suit consisted of a dark grey leather flight jacket, a black shirt with an unintelligible slogan on it, a pair of padded jeans, several pouches on the belt with a suspender, a pair of red gloves, magnetic boots, earbuds for communication and vacuum protection and a ballistic vest with an attached RIG, holo projector and thrusters. The mask exposed Isaac's neck and the back of his head.

As it was seen during the first chapter of Dead Space 3, the RIG line and Stasis indicators are held onto the suit via metal braces.

In Dead Space 3, it was only used as a placeholder for the first true suit that you got which was the EVA Suit. It had a new undershirt, new pants, lacked the gravity/rocket boots and most to all of the armor was removed. It also lacked the hologram projector that was normally seen on the RIG suits. Once you obtained the EVA Suit, you could no longer wear this suit for the rest of the game, much like the Patient Suit.

Gameplay
The Hacker Suit guaranteed at least 15 inventory slots and 15% armor. While equipped, hacking the consoles took one less stage to complete.

There was also a Hacker Contact Beam Schematic that could be found near the beginning of Chapter 9. It was located in a Conduit Room.

Although the back of Isaac's head and his neck was not armored and fully visible, he could still travel normally in space like he was using any other suit. This was just for gameplay purposes.

Trivia
The suit cost 20,000 Credits and the Schematic could be found in the door labeled Conduit Room off the hallway with the TST billboard in Chapter 2.

Due to all RIG upgrades being retroactive, this suit became one of the better choices if you dislike the hacking minigame. It gained the inventory and armor rating of your best suit, but retained its one less stage on hacks.

This suit was useful for the players attempting Hard Core mode as it could be obtained early on with a high damage resistance and inventory space for that point in the game.

Buying this suit would cause the Elite Advanced Suit to disappear from the Safe.
The suit appeared to have a shirt underneath it with some sort of writing on it. In Dead Space 3, the writing said "New Horizons, No Hope". Isaac also donned a wristwatch on his right hand in the re-iterated version.

The Hacker RIG was the first and only promotional/DLC item to appear in a sequel or any other game beside its debut appearance. It also did not confer its hacking bonus as the suits in Dead Space 3 only served aesthetical purposes.

As the EVA Suit was worn on top of it, it was possible that Isaac still had this outfit under his armorsuit by the end of Awakened as it was never taken off onscreen.

It was worth noting that the holo-projector on the Hacker Suit sat higher on the chest and was larger than most of the other suits in the game, most likely having to do with its name.
The Hacker suit was the only canon DLC RIG in the Dead Space universe
According to the game's strings, in Dead Space 3, this suit is listed as "Colony Fatigues," and a copy named "Fanatic Suit."
