This guide is meant to show the easiest way to play with your friends. It may not work for everyone.

To let your friends connect to your game you will havee to give them your steam id. To do that start a new game on sven coop, it doesn't matter witch map it is. After that you'll have to open your console. To do so: press the (~) key. It should be located next to (1). Note: the default key can be changed later. Once in the console type "status" without the quotation marks. You will get something like this in return:

Under tcp/ip, you will find your id. It should look like this: STEAM_0:0:123456789 but with different numbers at the end. Now you have your ID.

Under start game you will have the option to choose which map to play. Change it from < random map > to "-sp_campaign_portal". This will be the main hub where you select your chapter. Note: you will need at least two players to start a chapter. For the server settings I would recommend if you're under 3 people set Max. players to 2 so "sv_cheats" will work. Set your server location to your area for the best ping.

Once you're on the map, tell your friend to open console and type "connect (your steam id)". Replace the parentheses with your id from earlier. If your server has a password type "connect (your steam id); password (your password). That's it. You can now play the half life campaign with your friends.

If you want to enable respawning (disable survival mode), you'll have to open up the console and type "toggle_survival_mode" without the quotation marks. This will disable survival mode or enable it if you have it disabled.
