Fourty years ago, this animation was first used to create a human body after being used as a novelty for wireframe computer monitors in other movies

Thirty six years ago, it was used to show emotion in faces for the first time.

Thirty four years ago, a movie in this format was deemed too expensive to make and drove an entire studio bankrupt trying to make a movie about robots. A frame could reportedly take two weeks to render, and it was estimated the final film, if finished, would have taken seven years in total to render.

The same year, Tron was dropped from being able to win an award for special effects because it "had computers do everything", with the general public having no idea how computers worked thinking that the computer made the film for them.

Thirty Three years ago, Tin Toy was released to test one of the first commercially available 3D animation software.

Eventually, twenty-six years ago, the first full length animated movie was released by pioneers using their previous Tin Toy Renderman animation software, with changes being made as they produced it. This cost 30 million dollars to produce, with frames taking 45 minutes to 30 hours to render.

Now this format is being used for free by some random stoner on the internet to parody the original pioneers because he thinks it's funny to have video game characters play dress up. Rendering took about three hours total.
