This guide aims to be a complete guide to help players complete their Ghost List, with detailed descriptions on how to react to each ghost as they appear in the game.

The goal is to get you these three achievements:




They represent the Ghosts, Specters and Traces in the Ghost List, respectively. This mean you have to Fatal Glance XXX ghosts, as well as photograph 101 Specters and 68 Traces.

Oh, and heavy spoiler warning. Have fun!

Each of the three categories, Ghosts, Specters and Trails are first given their complete list as per the in-game Ghost List, and secondly, a detailed descriptive guide on how to find them in the game, in order.

The ghosts are listed in the same order as they will appear in your Ghost List and are separated by chapters so it's easy to keep track of your progression. In the game the ghosts have no numbers so I numbered them as they appear in the Ghost List, allowing you easily to keep track of them.

In the detailed guide section, the order of the ghosts is given based on the order you generally encounter them in the game, so it's easy to keep track of what to look out for next. In case you just want to find a guide for a specific ghost that you are missing, just search for the given number in the list.

In the list, the locations for the ghosts are given where the game marks them to exist, but in the detailed capturing sections the locations are for where it's optimal for the player to capture the ghosts. I hope that makes sense. As an example: capturing the game's first Specter from the Ichiru Manor Room 102, while the ghost itself is in the room above: Room 203.

If you see a ditto mark, " (double quotation marks), it means the location or description is the same as the column above it.

You can use Reload Last Checkpoint from the menu to retry capturing ghosts however many times you need to in case you miss the timing. Just notice that some checkpoints can be far in between and can set you back quite a bit. Keep an eye out on the "Saving" text on the bottom right corner. Usually the game auto-saves after each encounter that drops an item. Do note, however, that any ghosts you've added to your Ghost List since the last checkpoint will be removed if you Reload Last Checkpoint.

Ghosts are hostile apparitions which appear both as scripted enemy encounters as well as random encounters.

To unlock a ghost to your Ghost List, you must perform a Fatal Glance on it. To do so, you first need to capture a (Fatal Frame?) photograph of the ghost when it's displaying an animation that led to its death lore-wise. Secondly, you have to Touch it on its moment of "death" once you've depleted its health to perform the Fatal Glance.

Ghosts will linger a little longer if their Fatal Glance condition is met, so if the ghost disappears immediately after dying, you didn't successfully photograph their special animation.

Specters are a type of non-hostile ghosts that appear briefly in various places in the game, usually either by standing still for a moment before dissipating, or moving in such a way that you only have limited time to capture their photographs.

Traces are moving apparitions revealing the past movements of certain ghosts. The game turns monochrome and stops your movement when these ghosts appear.

These bonus missions where you play Ayane (Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive) are unlocked once you finish the main game at least once. Although it is a bonus campaign, these four Traces are necessary for the completion of the Ghost List and to unlock the achievement.
