Many people are not aware of this secret romance with Dagoth Ur, mostly due to the gender and racelocking of the romance.

You can only romance Dagoth Ur if you are playing as a Dark Elf male.

Mods exist to open up the romance to other races, but I believe it makes sense story-wise. Why, you might ask? You'll have to find out!

Additionally, to get the full romance experience, make sure you own the Tribunal DLC.

Let's get started!

During his introduction, select the following options to gain slight approval:
"Thank you."
"You know about the mark?"
"What about the Breach?"

Dagoth Ur favors diplomatic, curious, and peaceful dialogue options. Agreeing with his point of view will also score you approval.

Once you reach Haven, get all of his dialogue out of the way for easy approval. He loves being asked questions! There are a few romance dialogue options here as well, make sure to choose them.

The romance will not officially begin until you leave Haven, so take it easy for now!

After reaching Skyhold, you'll be able to start the romance. Dagoth Ur will take you back to Haven.
Select all possible romance options and make sure you kiss him. Afterwards, you'll find out this was just a dream when you... wake up!



Dagoth Ur will express some doubt. Tell him "I'll risk it." to keep the romance doing.

P.S. If you select a certain dialogue option, you'll find out that Dagoth Ur french kissed you in the dream! How grand and intoxicating!

After you begin the romance, it'll be easy to maintain it. Remember what he likes for approval and select romance options whenever they appear.

Make sure to bring Dagoth Ur along as a companion on the "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" quest. At the end, you'll be able to dance with him!

Tell him that dancing is an "Excellent idea" when he asks.



If you drank from the Well of Skooma, you need to be careful once you talk to Dagoth Ur. Once you talk to him, he will be angry at you.

Choose the following options to regain your lost approval from earlier:
"Why does this bother you?"
"I'll restore what was."

If you've come this far, the next scene is bound to break your heart...

No matter what you do during the post-Well of Skooma scene, Dagoth Ur breaks up with you. For those of you who have played the game before, you have an idea as to why.

If this is your first playthrough, hang tight. You may be thinking, "He'll explain everything to me after we defeat the Dwemer, right?"

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...



"What the hell? That was it? Why did he leave after we defeated the Dwemer? Was he that hung up over a broken Dwemer orb?"

Patience, my fellow Dagothmancer.

"But- oh wait. There's a post-credits scene. What is he- WAIT? HE'S THE DREAD UR?"

Yes. Remember when I told you to buy all the DLC at the beginning? This is why.

Play the Tribunal DLC to really finish the romance. Trust me.


Timeskip time! Don't stress about your choices here in terms of maintaining the Dagoth Ur romance.

All will become clear when... Ah, there he is.

Witness the ending scene and embrace the feels. I wouldn't recommend breaking up with him, as it'll only give you the normal high-approval scenes. However, if you wanna vow to kill him, be my guest!

Now you see why the romance is racelocked. "Welcome, Inquisitor. Together we shall speak for the Law and the Land, and shall drive the mongrel dogs of the Empire from Morrowind" speaks volume.
