The Estalian Reaper or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Red Wind - A Sienna off-meta build
By Regular Soldier Tso
A tome of an off-meta Cataclysm build I created/modified/combusted for unchained. Propane tanks and lighter fluid sold separately. Detailed scientific reasoning (and explosions) for some wacky choices. WARNING: Spontaneous Skaven combustion may occur if guide followed properly, proceed with caution, I do not accept liability for any scorched Stormvermin or blasted Beserkers.

Foreword/Health and Safety Notice
Hello darlings. In this heretical tome you will find a completely unhinged and irresponsibly insane builds for Sienna, especially for Unchained. As it is off-meta it's not the most powerful builds you could find, but I find them rewarding. It has been tested almost entirely on Cataclysm, so should be viable on any vanilla difficulty.

WARNING: Unsafe usage may lead to scorched limbs, lacerations, spontaneous combustion, and sudden death. You have been warned.

Post-Script: This guide is a perpetual work-in-progress. I'm currently testing out more of the melee weapons, my findings will later be included in the guide (along with my personal view of their compatability). Update: This is done, mostly.
Tepid Tabasco Party Sauce - Outburst Build for Unchained
General Playstyle

This Fiery Hot Sauce is largely composed of Liquid Nitrogen mixed with Dark Matter. Unconventionally, it is fermented using cider vinegar - as all the Helmgart Chippies were razed to the ground!

For this build, the general playstyle revolves around heavy attacks and pushing. Main priority is given to CC and fast horde killing. Staying at moderate to high overcharge is desirable. A big focus is on THP generation, allowing you to proc Abandon on demand. High stamina is essential, and push/block angle plays a significant role (as you shall see shortly). Your total kill count being double the melee + ranged kills combined seems to be fairly standard from my testing on Cataclysm, and is probably even more noticeable on Legend and other difficulties.

A short descriptor for this build would be "Ashqy Zealot after snorting powdered habanero sauce". I've tried my best to synergise the talents, properties, and traits to lead to the most effective combination. If any of my (utterly unhinged) suggestions come off as lunacy, then it will hopefully make more sense after reading the next couple sections.

Talent selection and explanation

Level 5 - I recommend Soul Quench as the playstyle relies pretty heavily on pushing and heavy attacks, leading to staggering being a lot more reliable for THP generation than cleave.

Level 10 - I strongly recommend Outburst, with it being the lynchpin of the entire build. Lighting enemies on fire upon pushing them is the cornerstone of this build, and the 70% push arc is not to be underestimated either. Neither of the other talents in this row compensate for this, so this is strongly recommended

Level 15 - Any of these are viable. Personally, I go for Mainstay as the 60% bonus damage also applies to burn damage (as far as I'm aware). Enhanced Power is also a viable choice if you want to reach certain breakpoints or have a more range focus.

Level 20 - Again, any of these are viable. However I personally recommend Dissipate as a larger portion of your time will be spent with right click held down, this also helps compensate for the lack of BCR intrinsic to the properties of the build (more on that further down), and is especially useful considering a lot of your time will be spent at high overcharge (increasing your melee attack power).

Level 25 - Abandon is the chef's pick here, and makes an especially vibrant Hot Sauce when used strategically. I recommend this strategic triggering during hordes and patrols to scorch the tongues of your enemies and deal significant damage. When mastered, this ingredient leads to the ability to scorch anything in your path. Enfeebling Flames is also a viable choice, as you are going to be setting a lot of enemies on fire, but I've yet to test it comprehensively: it certainly leads to a more defensive playstyle, though, and that comes with its own benefits and drawbacks.

Level 30 - Wildfire is what I recommend the most. It utterly decimates hordes of infantry and beserkers alike. and savagely dents patrols. More optimised and intensive usage can lead to this being triggered on demand when high on temp health (from all the staggering and pushing you'll be doing). Fuel for the Fire is also a potentially solid pick here, but I feel that Wildfire synergises better. Bomb Balm does not synergise well with abandon for offensive usage, but could be engineered into a good defensive pick with some re-arrangements.

That's about it for the main ingredients, our hot sauce is fermenting nicely now. Now we just need to look at some of our delicious herbs and spices we're adding for flavour in the Equipment Section. WARNING - Sharp objects ahead, please wield carefully (grindstone not included).

The Weapons and Traits going ahead

Some recommended weapons and jewellery for the build, explanation is in the next section. I recommend reading the VerminScience™ first, though, since otherwise it all seems utterly insane. This paper has not been peer reviewed by the Bright College

Before we get to the explanation about the equipment itself, I feel we need a moment of VerminScience™. After a quick glance at the image above, you may be wondering "Why the hell do you have so much Push/Block Angle? Are you mad? Do you need help? Are you committed in the Shallyan Hospice?" and the answer to all of those questions is Yes. Now, before I get burned at the stake as a heretic, here's the science. Mathematical calculations are assuming that Push/Block Angle stacks additively rather than multiplicatively - which according to Saltzpyre's recent rat experiments is currently considered current scientific Sigmarite dogma.

The Science

Outburst grants you an extra 70% Push/Block Angle (henceforth referred to as PBA) after a heavy attack. The +30% PBA on your weapon and +30% on your charm brings this number up to +130% PBA. Keep this in mind as we go ahead.

I will be using Sienna's sword as the example for PBA, so keep that in mind

The inner push angle, where your strongest pushing takes place, is 100°. 100° + 130% is approximately 230° of your strongest pushes. For a visual reference, that's everything above the red line

Everything above that red line is staggered with full force just as much as the enemy right in front of you! Combined with Opportunist, this means you're going to be dealing lots of stagger to any enemy that isn't directly behind you, even enemies at your sides are effected. And on top of that, all of those enemies are also ignited because of outburst.
But wait, there's more!...

The outer push angle is also effected by the extra PBA, leading to weaker pushes being delivered to enemies at an angle of 414°!. The outer push angle of the Sword (180°) plus the 130% PBA leads to an outer push angle of even greater than a full circle. Of course since no angle can be greater than 360°, it is capped there, but that's still the highest it can possibly be, and every enemy near you, even behind you, is being ignited every single time you push.

A visual reference of your outer push angle, every enemy within that yellow circle (approx.) will be staggered to some degree. Imagine the temp health from hordes!

So, to conclude. You are pushing every single enemy around you with varying degrees of stagger strength. This nets you with large and consistent amounts of temporary HP as well as igniting any enemy in your general area. If this isn't at least 1,000,000 on the Scoville Scale then I'd be massively surprised.
Tepid Tabasco Party Sauce - Part 3: Gear and Weapons
Drinks List - The weapons, traits, and properties of choice

Quick refresher of the deadly implements of fiery fury that I recommend wielding with this utterly demonic build.

Melee Weapon - For your Melee weapon I personally recommend the Sword, this is because the sword is a very good all-rounder, and the heavy attack synergises with the pushing focus of the build very well (having a wide sweep followed by setting everything on fire, rinse and repeat) and also quite notably comes with 1 extra stamina shield, giving you a bit of extra flaming as well as survivability. The Mace could also be a very viable choice, but I need to do some further testing before recommending it, ditto with the Flail (although I personally find the weapon a bit gimmicky and cumbersome).

For the sword, I recommend Push Block Angle (PBA) and Stamina, this provides you with extra survivability and the massive offensive bonuses of 360° ignition of enemies (see the VerminScience chapter for explanation)

Ranged Weapon - For your ranged weapon I recommend any ranged weapon!. I believe it's down to personal preference and what kind of role you'd like to fill in when not front-lining. Personally I find myself drawing towards the fireball staff, and for the screenshot I included the bolt staff since it's a very solid choice too. More recently, I've found that the Coruscation Staff is also an excellent pick.

Necklace - For the necklace I recommend PBA with extra stamina. This gives you extra survivability while also bringing you the main draw of the build. Survivability increases even more in tandem with Dissipate. For the trait I recommend either Boon of Shallya or Natural Bond depending on your skill level and playstyle. Natural Bond tends to work well for more confident players, whereas Boon of Shallya is helpful if you're going for a more THP focused build where purposefully triggering abandon is a regular occurrence. Personally, I don't feel the need for +20% HP, as Unchained has a base 150HP already. The extra stamina adds both offensive and defensive capabilities, much higher than that of even more HP.

Charm - For the Charm I recommend +10% Power vs Skaven and +10% Power vs Chaos to be used for quickplay or mixed Skaven-chaos missions. This allows you to enjoy the most of your mass ignition of all enemies and increases your overall DPS. For the trait it is up to your personal preference, I personally use decanter.

Trinket - For the trinket I recommend Stamina Recovery and Cooldown Reduction for Cataclysm, replacing one with Curse Resistance for legend. This increases your survivability, allows you to push more (igniting more enemies) and enjoy the benefits of your ultimate. The trait is up to personal preference, I tend to use shrapnel, but explosive ordinance and grenadier are both solid picks.

Guide to Weapons and their Compatibility

Sword - My favourite and recommended weapon for this build, with high stamina for a Sienna weapon, good block angle. Excellent heavy attacks (wide sweeps) that also have a very high stagger and damage; goes well with the amount of pushing you will be doing with this build, and works very well with THP through stagger. Very versatile unlike mace, fire sword, and crowbill.

Mace - A solid pick, slower than the sword but with higher damage on most light attacks. However, it lacks the same amount of cleave on all attacks: and has lower stagger on heavy attacks, but with higher damage cleave.

Fire Sword - A somewhat middling pick. The high stagger from the heavy attacks can generate lots of temp health, but does not do very much elite damage. Heavy attacks ignite enemies, which doesn't particularly complement the build as pushing already ignites enemies, so there's perhaps too much overlap here. Low Stamina also an issue.

Crowbill - A solid pick. Does good stagger, has a decent amount of stamina, and excellent single target damage that pairs well with the CC generated by the flames and pushing. Push attacks and heavy attacks have nice, wide sweeps. However, cleave is terrible. On the whole, it provides high single-target damage in a build that is mainly CC and DoT based, complementing the overall build by covering that weak point.

Enscorcelled Reaper - A decent pick. Excellent cleave and Stamina roughly on-par with the 1H Sword, however it is very slow and pushing doesn't flow as easily with heavy attacks as it does with the 1H Sword or the Crowbill, opening you up perhaps a bit too much to enemy attacks.

Awesome, thank you. Been thinking of getting back into Vermintide, haven't played since they made changes to Shade - I never actually figured out if I liked those changes, or not, but they were unappealing on paper - disillusioned, I moved over to Unchained. Still getting the hang of it, lots of fun, but I must admit, I do miss the E D G E.

I still play this build as unchained fairly regularly with alterations and do just as well. Just passed 1000 hours, in fact!
