"Hairy Pupper - an orphaned dog - enrols at Barkworts, a magical school of witchcraft and wizardry run by the famous Professor Orifice Dingledongle (Teddy FreiBär™) , where he soon learns the truth about himself, his family and a terrible evil that haunts the magical world.

Hairy makes friends easily at his new school, befriending know-it-all HerMEOWnie Gingerminge (Gin the Cat) and Bon Weaslefeet (Til mit der Brill), a penguin suffering from an inferiority complex and Benis Ragbird (Wavester), the school's Toucan groundskeeper. Hairy soon finds, however, that the wizarding world is far more dangerous for him than he would have ever imagined, and he quickly learns that not all wizards are ones to be trusted.
