[LEGACY] Best sticker positions for all guns - visual guide

This is a visual guide for the best sticker positions on all guns.

Knowing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and sometimes 5th best sticker position on a gun is useful, as expensive stickers can add a lot of value if applied on some of the best positions of any given skin. A lower position ranking tends to mean a lower value added from the sticker.

A few notable stickers include Katowice 2014 stickers, Katowice 2015 stickers, the Crown (Foil), and the infamous Howling Dawn.

NOTE: As of 2/6/2024 up to 5 stickers can be placed anywhere on a gun. This guide still stands as credible for 99% of existing skins, and even for most newly crafted skins. Preset position crafts are still more desirable than the average custom placement craft. Just be aware of this change because it may affect small things this legacy guide doesn't cover.

Introduction

This guide is to help anyone who wants to know the best sticker positions ranked for any gun. Expensive stickers use these ranked positions to calculate how much extra value a sticker (or stickers) adds to the gun, or to determine the best spot for overall sticker visibility when playing.

This guide takes the sticker positions ranking to it's core and will work with 99% of weapon skins, but certain very specific skins may have different best sticker positions depending on the art on the skin. For example the best sticker position for the M4A4 | Howl is widely considered to be on the back of the body, second to rightmost position. The AK-47 | Jaguar has similar properties yet only with certain very specific stickers.

I don't recommend applying expensive stickers onto stock guns as shown in some of the pictures below.

Here is how the visual sticker position ranking works:

Rifles

Galil AR

1st best: back of the body, second to rightmost position
2nd best: above the mag, second to leftmost position
3rd best: on the barrel, leftmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position

FAMAS

1st best: middle left of body, second to leftmost position
2nd best: front of the body, leftmost position
3rd best: on the biggest spot, rightmost position
4th best: middle right of body, second to rightmost position
Notes: Controversial ranking. The #1 and #2 positions are placed at the front of the body because although the #3 position is bigger in size, the #3 position is also less visible during gameplay and is thus usually not as favorable as positions #1 and #2 when playing. Regardless sticker value wise #1, #2, and #3 tend to have very similar overpay, in contrast to #4 which has notably lower overpay.

AK-47

1st best: on the wood, leftmost position
2nd best: back of the body, rightmost position
3rd best: middle right of body, second to rightmost position
4th best: middle left of body, second to leftmost position

M4A4

1st best: above the mag, leftmost position
2nd best: back of the body, second to rightmost position
3rd best: above the 1st best, second to leftmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position

M4A1-S

1st best: above the mag, second to leftmost position
2nd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost position
3rd best: back of the body, rightmost position
4th best: on the barrel, leftmost position

SG 553

1st best: above the mag, leftmost position
2nd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost and leftmost positions
3rd best: above the handle, rightmost position
4th best: on the scope, top position

AUG

1st best: above the handle, second to leftmost position
2nd best: front of the body, leftmost position
3rd best: above the mag, second to rightmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position
Notes: Controversial ranking. The #1 position placed is above the handle because although the #2 position is slightly bigger in size and is placed in a slightly nicer spot, the #2 position also makes sizable holes in the applied sticker. Regardless sticker value wise #1 and #2 tend to have very similar overpay.

Sniper Rifles

SSG 08

1st best: above the mag, second to leftmost position
2nd best: front of the body, leftmost position
3rd best: middle right of the body, second to rightmost position
4th best: back of the body, rightmost position

AWP

1st best: on the scope, leftmost position
2nd best: below the scope, second to leftmost position
3rd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position

G3SG1

1st best: in front of the mag, leftmost position
2nd best: middle of the stock, second to rightmost position
3rd best: on the scope, top position
4th best: above the handle, second to leftmost position on the body
5th best: back of the stock, rightmost position

SCAR-20

1st best: above the mag, bottom left position
2nd best: below the scope, top left position
3rd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position

1st best: back of the body, rightmost position
2nd best: above the handle, second to rightmost and leftmost positions
3rd best: front of the body, leftmost position
4th best: on the handle, bottom position

1st best: back of the body, rightmost position

1st best: on the big spot, second to leftmost position
2nd best: above the handle, leftmost position
3rd best: middle of the stock, second to rightmost position
4th best: back of the stock, rightmost position

1st best: above the handle, rightmost position
2nd best: above the mag, second to leftmost position
3rd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost position

2nd best: on the tip, leftmost position

1st best: right hand's pistol above the trigger
2nd best: left hand's pistol above the handle
3rd best: left hand's pistol on the tip
4th best: right hand's pistol on the handle

1st best: above the handle, second to rightmost position
2nd best: above the trigger, second to leftmost position
3rd best: above the mag, leftmost position
4th best: on the back, rightmost position

Five-Seven

1st best: above the handle, top right position
2nd best: above the trigger, middle position
3rd best: on the tip, leftmost position
4th best: on the handle, bottom right position

CZ75-Auto

1st best: next to the cylinder, second to leftmost position
2nd best: on the front of the cylinder, second to rightmost position
3rd best: on the tip, leftmost position
4th best: on the handle, rightmost position
5th best: on the back of the cylinder, back position

Shotguns

Nova

1st best: above the trigger, second to rightmost position
2nd best: middle of the body, second to leftmost
3rd best: front of the body, leftmost position
4th best: on the back, rightmost position

XM1014

1st best: above the trigger, rightmost position
2nd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost position
3rd best: front of the body, second to leftmost position

Sawed-Off

1st best: above the handle, second to rightmost position
2nd best: back of the body, rightmost position

Please leave a comment below if you believe a sticker position ranking is incorrect. Please state what it should be instead and why you think so.

Example:

I think the sticker position rankings for the _ are wrong. You should switch the 1st best and 2nd best positions because the current 2nd best position is more visible than the 1st best position when holding the gun normally in game.

i might add 2 smoke criminal stickers since theyre cheap

For the glock, when playing the game normally you will not see the handle 95% of the time, and aesthetically having 3 stickers on the top in a row is nicer than 2 with a 3rd hidden away below.

To be fair CS2 made the bumps of the best position look worse than it used to in CS:GO for some reason, but CS2 skins are still being updated and fixed over time and hopefully they fix that issue.

It is subjective so don't feel bad for liking something different than what this guide suggests, but this guide is based off of many sources of what is on average best looking and what sells for more overpay when resold in the community.

how is the glock #1 the top of the mag? im thinking of adding a sticker and only have the top or bottom of mag left and whenever i see it on top of the mag the grooves of the glock make it so it isnt flat and when you inspect the thumb is in the way. making me think the handle is better
