oh yeah, and instead of blaming whoever you made contact with, look back at the replay and analyze the incident. Even if you weren't at fault, look at what *YOU* could have done differently. Same goes for if you were at fault, of course.
I myself have been guilty of getting overly close, but often braking a bit sooner than the car in front can allow better handling through the corner.
This also does not take into account what happens when the car in front loops it and you are too close to them. So yeah some extra space can make the difference, be it from handling through the corner or not being inside the other car you are following.
