"One of my all time favourite animals, native to Australia and completely harmless. These little guys (and sometimes big fellas) are commonly mistaken for snakes and other venomous critters but are just friendly skinks. Found all throughout Australia, from the bush to suburban backyards, they are excellent for gardens!

Many Aussies are terrified of these little chunky boys and get quite a shock when I just pick them up. The amount of "rescues" called in to me for healthy blue-tongues in someones backyard just because the person is scared is simply absurd. Let these cuties be, wildlife education is important.

For other Aussies reading this and those interested in stats, over 80% of the rescues reported (that are actually injured) for these guys are attacked by OUR dogs and cats with the majority of the last 20% being hit by cars. I have never received any reports of a blue-tongue injuring a person or a pet, even when cruel people deliberately hurt them, they have not "fought" back. Humans with our cars and our domestic pets are the real danger, not the friendly neighbourhood lizard :)"

Hey Veksha , my friend! How are you? :HentaiGirlLinda_like:
I actually have some kind of phobia of some reptiles. :scaredBall:
But this lizard really seems like a good guy! :tkreallyhappy:

DiNO, you do not actually need a courage to hold lizard pet on your arm. I guess you would like it. Such lizards are harmless and calm, their skin is dry and pleasant to touch. Very nice fellas. :leafoffriendship:

I know a guy who has lizard pet. His lizard is a very nice animal - calm, docile, safe, very cheap to maintain and, most importantly, lizard causes no allergic reactions, unlike cat or dog. :violettOK:

@Ayuri Haha of course I don't mind!! I love sharing photos of Aussie wildlife with the world. They are indeed very cute with their blue tongues hehe. You've got it exactly right there, fear and ignorance are the top killers.

I hope you don't mind if I go through your pictures, but I really love animals and would love to do so much for them. Thank you for the explanation, it's the first time I see a blue tongue lizard, they are so cute! :CatHapi: It's really sad that they keep getting hurt for no reason... Fear and ignorance truly are awful :steamsad:

Yeah we can have them as pets here too but I prefer the wild kind heh. This little guy is quite small, probably only a few months old but you’re right, getting his tongue poking out was too perfect!!

:2017catheart: What a lovely looking fella. People have them as pets here in NZ. I got to meet a large one first hand, but that pic takes the cake tongue out and all. I wonder how you managed to time it :portalbirdhead:
