A reimagining of the popular map rp_desert_conflict. The entire city has been redone to take on a more midwestern feel.

It is mid-2020. After nearly 8 months of disease, war, civil unrest, and isolation, a massive wedge has been struck between average Americans. As anger begins to build towards local and federal governments enacting local and national lockdowns, the damage placed on the US economy begins to build up.

As civil unrest linked to lockdowns begins to build, states begin to relax lockdown procedures, leading to the resumption of social activities and opening of schools and workplaces with no limits. The vaccine is released months early, with humans receiving their first doses in mid-august. The country appears to be returning to normalcy.
As rules limiting military political involvement are slowly lifted behind the scenes, Active-Duty United States Army top generals and senior officers place massive support behind current president Donald Trump. Following a cease fire, the 2014-2020 low intensity conflict between the United States, China, and Russia come to an end. Per cease fire agreements, US troops withdraw from Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Taiwan. The draft of 2015 comes to an end.

United States Marine and Navy top personnel begin to lobby in US congress for the end of the cease fire in the Nations of Conflict. It is assumed that USMC and USN generals have a reason to continue operations in said nations. Ex Vice President Joe Biden is convinced by Kamala Harris to take a pro war stance behind the scenes, although continues to criticize president trump for his perceived failure to end the Eurasian and Middle Eastern Wars.

In September of 2020, a highly lethal mutation of Covid-19 begins to take hold in the USA and is located by scientists in October of 2020. This mutation appears to have regenerative properties in its victims. The disease takes hold on the victim’s brain stem, sustaining basic bodily functions for up to two weeks without food or water. It still spreads through saliva and droplets from the lungs, and can now spread through contact with infected blood.
Scientists choose a new name for the mutation, referring to it as Coreg-1 (regenerative coronavirus 1) The mutation spreads extremely quickly and is quickly referred to by enthusiastic and nervous twitter users as the “zombie plague”.
It is estimated over 1 million people died in the first month as a result of Coreg 1 cases.

October 2020:

The United States Army is mobilized to quarantine outbreaks of Coreg. The US Navy and attached USMC units oversee the near impossible task of stopping anyone from getting in, or out of the United States through the coastline. Shipping routes are cancelled. Airplanes are grounded. The Panama canal is filled with concrete. The world has locked the USA in. The US Army is understaffed and undertrained, as at the end of the 2014 draft, 60% of the US Army retired.

United States Marines attempt to administer aide to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other US territories. Army, Marine, and Naval bases in Honolulu are wiped out. Two weeks later, Hawaii is classified as a black zone. (Too dangerous to conduct operations) Operations continue in other US islands.
Washington DC is overrun, and officials are evacuated to Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado.

President Trump declares that the nation is in a time of crisis. This cancels the November election. USMC, Navy, and Democrat officials are furious.
