Tiny Colony Deed

Description
A smaller version of the colony deed, cunningly disguised as an intercom. This functions in the exact same way as the Colony Deed, and is also purchasable from the Frögg Furnishing store at the outpost, except that it occupies only a 1x1 tile on the wall of the dwelling.

I found during my ship and base builds that the existing deed stands out from the theme of most of my builds, and it's often hard to find a nice space for a 2x3 wall item that doesn't interrupt the visual aesthetic. So here is a tiny 1x1 deed that is disguised as an intercom for those looking for a less intrusive approach to being an interstellar landlord. This is an additional item in the game and does not replace the original deed, so hopefully it should be compatible with other mods out there that change deeds (please let me know in the comments if you come across any compatibility problems).

The visual statuses of the old deed are now represented by light systems:

Blue on/off flashing - Searching for tenant
Green steady - Tenant happy
Red steady - Tenant unhappy
Red on/off flashing - Error
Yellow on/off flashing - Rent ready for collection
Blue steady - Beacon (summons wandering tenant)
No light (grey) - Vacant tenancy
Blue and Red alternating - Tenant respawning after death

Update v1.5:
Have update the light sequences above for the deed, and added a tiny intercom that functions as a tiny wall switch, craftable at the wiring station and printable from the pixel printer once scanned.

Update v1.5.1:
Fixed an error in the .lua for scanning that made the deed not function properly. Think this was an old script version that snuck back in in the last update. D'oh!


Any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

(The item names for anyone using console commands are "tinycolonydeed" and "tinyintercom")

I didn't think about it being to small for for both wiring nodes, and I don't know enough about modding for Starbound to be of much help.
Even without wiring it's still my favourite deed mod. Take however long you need, I get how busy one can get.

The only problem with the tiny colony deed is that it's a single block in size, so it might not have room for more than a single wiring node. I think wiring it so you can recall a tenant (and by extension multiple tenants) from a single button (for instance, the dummy tiny intercom button) should be easy enough. I'll have a play around and see what I can do when I next get some free time.

I was thinking a input and output node, E.g. Link the deed to the tenants door so they can't leave their room, or link multiple deeds to one switch so that all tenants go to their rooms and pay rent.

There is a mod on the workshop called "Colony Deed Wiring" that does it

Thanks StealthSuperset. I've been looking at the full bright mod but haven't had chance to approach this or any of my other mods with that in mind in the last year or so due to work and family issues.

As for wiring, what exactly do you want to add, just interaction (i.e. press a wired button to summon the tenant) or is there something else you had in mind?

Definitely prefer this deed over the default one. Could Full Bright support be added to the light on the deed, and the deed be made wirable?

I think I found the error (a typo in the scanning script). This should now function correctly but let me know if not.

Hi Kii, if you can post a screenshot of the room, and a list of the mods you are using in the bug reporting discussion thread, I'll try to look into it. It uses the same code as the colony deed, so I can only think there's a mod that is patching that code that is thus interfering with the tiny deed.

When I put this down it doesn't summon a tenant. Thought it might be the room, so I put down I normal colony deed and it summoned a tenant right away.

This has been updated with a dummy intercom (functions as a tiny wall switch) and an updated indicator-light system.

You're welcome. I still intend to update/improve it, but family and work life is in the way of getting to it right now.
