The basics
Ragnaröck uses the LIV plugin which allows you to integrate yourself or your avatar in the game.
If you're using SteamVR (Vive, Valve Index, Windows Mixed Reality, etc.) it's pretty straightfoward to use and no special configuration is needed.

Just follow the official LIV guides to get you up to speed !

How to use with Oculus headsets
When you're playing Ragnaröck with an Oculus headset (Rift, Rift S, Quest + link), the game prioritizes the Oculus SDK so you get the best performance by default.
However, since LIV needs SteamVR to work, you have to force the game to use it explicitly with the following steps :

  • In your file explorer, navigate to Ragnaröck's AppData folder by pasting the following in the path bar :
    %LocalAppData%\Ragnarock\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

  • Open the "Engine.ini" file with a text editor

  • Add the following lines at the end :
    [HMDPluginPriority] SteamVR=100 OculusHMD=50 WindowsMixedRealityHMD=10

When launching the game it should automatically launch SteamVR with it, meaning that LIV should be able to capture the game now :)
Known issues
  • Unreal Engine (the game engine Ragnaröck is built on) does not have the best performance with the current version of LIV, so you'll need a lot of rendering power for it to run smoothly. You can also lower settings like in-game resolution, which won't affect the LIV output.
  • When travelling from one scene to another, the game might crash.

We're working closely with the amazing dev team at LIV, and we're currently testing a beta version of the plugin which should help with those two issues.

Thank you for the guide. It works really well with the Valve Index. Do you know if it is possible to remove the viking avatar from the game? I want to see only myself playing in mixed reality and not the viking avatar overlayed.
