Fighting Blue Crew with Page Lock (Spoilers)
By snek
Spoilers about the most recent content below!
Upon release there was a Page Lock system in the fight where winning on a floor prevented you from reusing Combat Cards, Pages and their attached passives from other floors, very soon after release this was removed. But this may come back!

"Why should I care? This got removed didn't it?"
However! It seems that Project Moon may just add this back in! https://twitter.com/ProjMoonStudio/status/1365553941707063296
"We will improve the floor attribution system and add clear rewards in the second week of March update." is how this roughly translates to, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thus it seems likely that PM will add this back in, maybe with tweaking done, however this guide shall follow the old implementation just in case (Pages and their cards are completely locked upon beating a floor).

One of the main things to focus on as a result is minimising page use where we can, particularly more high-value pages. A number of fights in this guide focus on doing exactly that! I'll be starting from those and then moving on to the larger fights.

Update
Pagelock is implemented partially, instead of the entire Library being under pagelock simultaneously, it is under the following layers:
Layer 1: Malkuth, Yesod, Hod, Netzach
Layer 2: Gebura, Tiphereth, Chesed
Layer 3: Hokma, Binah
Keter

Once you beat a layer, all previously locked pages and such will become available once again to distribute freely.

If you wish to follow the guide, you're welcome to regardless, but with the new system you can change some strats (such as Hod, Binah, etc) to be more consistent as you have more pages to play with.
Malkuth/Philip
Difficulty: Reliant on two cards, one of which is consistent and the other is early on and semi-consistent. Otherwise a pretty consistent strat.

The first of our somewhat solo strats. In a twist of cruelty, we'll actually be using Philip's own Crying Children page for this one!
We're using as passives: Lone Fixer, Kizuna, Remembrance and Mind Hauler, otherwise known as the typical bread and butter of non-true solo setups.

Deck is the following:
  • 2x Clone
  • 1x Fiery Dragon Slash
  • 3x Will of the City
  • 3x Fervid Emotions

This whole setup revolves around two key things:
  • Using Clone to net yourself 5x Fervid in your deck then,
  • Using Happy Memories to drive all of their cost down to 0!
Fervid is great for punting around Philip and the Crying Children especially when it's so spammable! Happy Memories is THE card you need for this, if you don't get it, reset straight away (it's EL 1 and 2).
You want your two supporting nuggets to die fast for your solo passives, but not too fast so you end up missing Happy Memories, it's a Green card after all!

That's why our supporting nuggets have high rolling cards to ensure you get plenty of positive emotion to increase our odds, their decks are the following
Librarian Outfit with no passives
  • 3x Wrath of Torment
  • 1x Repressed Flesh
  • 1x Will of The Prescript
  • 1x Proselyte Blade
  • 1x Night in the Backstreets

Use Wrath of Torment, farm positive emotion for Happy Memories, then die, that's the role of your two assistants.

For other EL levels
  • Set 1: Nostalgic Embrace or Display of Affection (if you somehow luck out like I did)
  • Set 2 (EL 3/4): Gluttony (VERY IMPORTANT! This is your means of HP regen!), Spores
  • Set 3 (EL 5): Barrier of Thorns

EGO: Wingbeat, Fourth Match Flame, Green Stem.

This strat is taken from popo, who is honestly a much better player than I am, his video of this is below:

Update to this
Still works, Happy Memories is still essential, but you can potentially get away with not getting Gluttony if you don't roll badly on Wingbeat.
Yesod/Eileen
Difficulty: Start can be pretty scary and you need to juggle a few things throughout, attention is needed! Otherwise not that difficult.

The second of the non-true solo strats presented in this guide, we will now be using Olivier with the following:

Passives:
  • Sooty Thwack
  • Puffy Brume
  • Health Hauler
  • Lone Fixer
  • Mind Hauler

Cards:
  • 1x Inhale Smoke
  • 2x Guidance of the Gears
  • 1x Steel Knuckles
  • 1x Repressed Flesh
  • 3x Celestial Spear
  • 1x True Trigram Formation

You will be bringing in 4 assistants of whom will have no equipment, not even battle symbols! You want them to die fast so you can get Lone Fixer procced as soon as possible, though perhaps pacing out their deaths will let you reach EL 5 faster, that's something to consider.

Abno Cards you want:
  • Set 1: Charge, Repetitive Pattern Recognition
  • Set 2: Clean, Music
  • Set 3: Dark Flame

EGO Pages:
Grinder Mk5-2 (Important! Get this as soon as it comes up!), Solemn Lament, Magic Bullet

For this fight you'll be using the Set 1 Abno Pages to greatly boost your light gen (which also chains with Clean) and Inhale Smoke to keep your smoke as high as possible, you can afford to take some hits to further boost smoke gain but there's some things to note.

Eileen has no effective means of generating light, she doesn't have Shimmering, eventually she'll start burning out in light use which makes her less annoying.

With full smoke and Dark Flame, Grinder EGO will more often than not wipe out full waves of Worshippers within one turn, letting you blitz through each of Eileen's phases with ease once the ball is rolling, Magic Bullet can also be solid for this but beware of Brainwash!
Repressed Flesh and True Trigram are both strong enough with Lone Fixer and Dark Flame to rip straight through Brainwash, they're both effective damage dealers (with RF being great for its counter) and as insurance against Eileen's mass attack.

Thanks to both Dima and bgammax for the foundations for this strat, I otherwise adapted this for the purpose of using Dark Flame.

Update to this
If you want to play dangerously, replace Health Hauler with Kizuna/Extreme Fatigue for some extra strength.
You really do not need RPR or Clean, I instead got Violence and Musical Addiction and still won pretty handily, only dangerous part was when I was still in setup as my assistants died. Dark Flame not only gives you constant strength now, it also turns Eileen's resistances into permanent Fatals, which makes the fight even faster.
Just keep up your smoke stacks and utilise both Magic Bullet and MK5 for instant kills on the Worshippers.
Hokma/Pluto
Difficulty: Practically a guaranteed win.

Yet another solo strat, this time we're using Purple Tear on Hokma with 4 assistants with no equipment, not even cards! Using PT is still a very expensive choice especially when it could be used elsewhere (Greta) but this makes Pluto a practically guaranteed win, so pick your poison really.

The only thing you need in this setup is Purple Tear's Guard Stance, that's it, with the following,
Passives:
  • Kizuna/Extreme Fatigue
  • Rhino Procedure
  • Grit
  • Keeping in Stride

Cards (Guard Stance):
  • 3x Smoking Pipe
  • 3x Serpentine Barrier
  • 3x Bi An

Abno Pages:
  • Set 1: Lean, Bloody Wings (this is THE page you need for this entire strat), Time
  • Set 2: Advent, A Nostalgic Sound, if you're low on SP for some reason, replace Nostalgic with Confession
  • Set 3: Divine Power

EGO Pages don't really matter, but take Paradise Lost, Penitence and Blue Star.

Have Hokma take Contract of Swiftness (the one that wants you to clash) and the assistants take the others, this is crucial, if they can't restart, at least that's only turn 1.

You may be thinking "But Pluto takes no damage!", he doesn't! Unless it's true damage!
True Damage is what you see on pages like Celestial Spear and Transpierce, it ignores resistances. What's convenient for us is the damage Lean, Bloody Wings inflicts is true damage!
The moment you get that, Hokma will be spending his turns using his block cards to reduce damage coming from the Shades, but most importantly, blocking Pluto to death!

This is an insanely cheesy strat that completely ignores Pluto's gimmick, he can't even reach phase 2 before dying to this, it'll be sad if this strat gets patched out seeing as it'd render an abno page useless for the fight.

Many thanks once again to popo for this strat, here's his video of it in action:
Gebura/Tanya
Difficulty: You're fishing for Mountain of Corpses, this can be somewhat unreliable as a result but otherwise this is also basically guaranteed once you get Corpses

Another non-true solo approach, this time we're using the following for Gebura:
Red Mist Page w/ Passives:
  • Mind Hauler
  • Lone Fixer
  • Remembrance
  • Kizuna/Extreme Fatigue

Cards:
  • Forward March
  • Extract Fuel
  • Multislash
  • Focus Spirit
  • Fiery Dragon Slash
  • Will of the City
  • Repressed Flesh
  • Sharp Nails
  • Will of the Prescript

All your assistants are 3x Mei and 1x Cecil, no passives needed but they have the following cards:
  • 3x Graze the Grass
  • 3x E-endure
  • 1x Emotional Turbulence
  • 2x Sturdy Defense

We're using Mei pages for Vigilant, this lets them keep going and farm more emotion without getting staggered, letting you reach EL3/4 faster.

Use E-endure and such to deliberately clash and lose against Tanya's attacks to farm negative emotion to the point you get Mountain of Corpses and you shred the fight.

You need to make sure you farm a lot of it though, MoC is a -3 Priority Breakdown card, meaning you need a lot of negative emotion to roll it. Once you do get it, enjoy a permanent +12 Strength or so!

Abno Cards:
  • Set 1: Vengeance, Role of the Wolf or possibly Instincts
  • Set 2: Mountain of Corpses, Vampirism
  • Set 3: Shell if you got Vampirism, Hello? if you didn't

Once again this strat is by popo, video of which is seen below:

popo also has an alternate strategy for this fight which I should test and detail at some point, it's instead a pure solo using Lowell that uses Lone Fixer, both Haulers, and instead opts for Vampirism/Absorption instead of Mountain of Corpses
Binah/Elena
Difficulty: Getting the 2 scene kill on Elena can be insanely unreliable at times, you need to rely on Binah not only striking first with Pillars, but also both pillars actually hitting, once you get the kill its a free win, since it uses very cheap cards I'd say this is overall worth the iffy reliability at times.

Instead of going solo, we're instead forming up a firing squad! Take out Elena first, ignore Vermillion Cross in those critical 2 scenes, the moment Elena dies his AI breaks and he only uses one attack a turn, much more manageable.

Binah Passives:
  • Fervor
  • Mind Hauler
  • Empowered First Shot
  • In Times Like These!
  • If you want, you can swap Fervor and Mind Hauler for Grace of the Prescript as getting Slash boost makes Pillars far more reliable.

Assistants use the following
Rabbit Team Soldier Page with the following passives:
  • Concentration
  • Snipe
  • Blind Fire
  • Dimensional Sections
  • Whoever can't have Concentration instead has whatever, maybe Empowered First Shot

Cards
3x Take the Shot
3x Indiscriminate Shots
3x Concentrated Fire

Focus literally all attacks on Elena, it helps if Binah high rolls speed to hit with a Pillar first thing to drop her health far more. For damage, I'd say you should focus on Indiscriminate Shots and Take the Shot for slightly more attacks.

Once you kill Elena you can chip away Vermillion at your own pace, one attack a turn means he's not doing much at all.
Again thanks to popo for this strat, video of which is here:
Chesed/Puppeteer
Difficulty: I found this wasn't too hard at all.

Our first genuine group fight! This is where builds may get messy since these are all builds I've personally put together with all the pages saved from the previous strats.

Since there's plenty of different card sets and such to look at, I'd say it's easier to just provide screenshots.

For an easier time, slam the weighty and nimble puppet out of existence as soon as so you only have to deal with a normal puppet, Angelica and the Puppeteer himself. Otherwise the fight isn't that intense, with this setup I took no deaths regardless.
You want smoke on Maxim here because then you can rip your opponent out of existence with a Ground Smash.

Abno Cards:
Set 1: Courage on Yan, Harvest
Set 2: Emerald, Oblivion
Set 3: Anything goes, I got the win before this set.

EGO Cards:
Homing Instinct, Faded Memories, anything goes.

Harold used to be in the place Mirinae is on this floor, but they've been swapped because bouncing strength boosts around is a terrible idea against Oswald.
Tiphereth/Oswald
Difficulty: Try not to get anyone strength-boosted or with a mass attack hit by Stupefy, otherwise you'll end up like me and end up eating a +4 Str Raging Storm, Emotional Turbulence and Fiery Waltz all at once, this is why I've since swapped Mirinae for Harold on this floor.

Once again another group fight, so screenshots to save some space.

Early on you can have Gloria take the Stupefy so you don't eat mass attacks as by that point she shouldn't have Blade Unlock. Later on deny it with a combination of your own mass attacks (in this case Lowell, Gloria, Love and Hate, Gold Rush and Nihil), pacing these out can essentially lock him out from Stupefy and even if it hits, you should be able to afford to take damage.

Take down the adds, Oswald isn't too dangerous himself and the cards you have should generally beat him, giving you further buffs.

Abno Pages:
Since we're not going for a solo Exodia in this case...
Set 1: Love, Justice
Set 2: Road to Happiness, your choice here
Set 3: Depends, you could try to a well-timed Void to give yourself a extremely nice strength boost to continue with beating his cards over and over.
Netzach/Bremen
Difficulty: Just annoyingly long because Bremen doesn't like to stagger, try to time the staggers in a way that you can wail on him so his final phase doesn't take as long.

Yet again a group fight, yet again more screenshots to save space.

Once again general approach is focus down the adds, especially the Worshipper and Ms. Mermaid since they're the biggest pests early on, getting rid of them also leaves Bremen on their own to be focused down. Nikolai is good for this with Disposal being able to clean them up fast once they're approaching low health.

Kalo is good for slamming with Focus Fire and applying tons of debuffs, Focus Fire is a great card
Both Nemo and Rose can reliably beat attacks with their charge-expending attacks, both Mark and Smoke should lead to Bremen taking tons of damage whenever vulnerable.

Abno pages:
  • Set 1: Laughing Powder, your choice
  • Set 2: Token of Friendship, Incomprehensible
  • Set 3: At this point, only Spring Genesis is usable

EGO Pages:
  • Our Galaxy, Pleasure, anything else, maybe Fragments from Somewhere?
Hod/Greta
Difficulty: I've been saving pages exactly for this fight, easily the fight I find the most annoying of the bunch.

Saved the most annoying for last, here's the builds I've used.

Why Xiao? Well Xiao has two great things for this floor:
  • She goes through Greta's status resilience extremely fast via burn, letting the rest of your team get through with bleed faster
  • She has extremely spammable and cheap mass attacks that can be used to cancel the Bagging attack

The start of this can be pretty rough as Greta isn't hindered by statuses and has extremely powerful rolls, take the time to get Yujin ready with a full Rapid Gashes setup while the other generally take the hits and farm emotion, try not to get anyone killed so distribute the pain equally.

Use Myo Prowess to get over Greta's huge rolls on the attacks other than the one that inflicts Bind and Paralysis. Dong Hwan and Kim are pretty fragile but the latter can generally win against most of Greta's attacks that isn't "Breaking An Egg" or whatever the one is that has the huge 2nd roll.
Stack bleed, trigger Sanguine Desire to fix your gigantic bleed stack in place, block Bagging with Laetitia, Black Swan, Xiao, or Feral Knives. Once you have the ball rolling with Cocoon and Alertness stacking Greta starts losing tons of speed and Power via all the Bind and Paralysis, further enabling you to stack bleed and slam her with more bleed.

Abno Pages:
  • Set 1: Axe (on Kim), Cocoon (it shreds her resilience and then slams her with debuffs) (on Kim too), Today's Expression (if you didn't get Cocoon)
  • Set 2: Obsession (if you ever get it), Alertness, whatever else
  • Set 3: Gooey Waste

EGO Pages:
Sanguine Desire, Laetitia, Black Swan

An alternative strategy with a pure solo Xiao was put up by Dima green, though this clashes with the Malkuth strategy in this guide as it requires the Crying Children page for passive transfer, I'll link it anyways.
Keter/Argalia
This fight isn't too intense really, especially with the passives we've managed to save for Roland, which are the following:
  • Lone Fixer
  • Locked Potential (from Hubert)
  • Firm as a Great Mountain
  • Mind Hauler

A number of Roland's pages decently hard counter Argalia's pages, make sure to maintain your hand and Light, this shouldn't be too hard seeing as Roland's deck has generally strong light gen and page draw.

And that's it! With this you have a full set of floors that not only follow the lock system rules, but can also beat their respective fights!
Credits
There's a number of people who's strats I've either compiled for this guide, or taken and adjusted, so I'll give credits to them for providing them:
  • popo
  • Bgammax
  • Dima Green
  • Various members of Afterglow
  • A few friends of mine
A lot of this guide would've taken much longer for me to have worked out on my own! The builds I've detailed that are practically my own (Bremen, Oswald, Greta and Puppeteer) are honestly a lot messier looking compared to the others that are from others in the community, or adapted from their builds.

I'm still interested in finding more builds for the sake of making fights even more reliable that fit the page lock rule, probably with a shorter section discussing alternative approaches. It'll be good to have this guide be updated so that it's clear that these fights can indeed be done with this rule in place.
This isn't even including all the various means in which you can do true solos of the Reverb Ensemble fights which I'd need to check to ensure Lone Fixer or other such passives aren't being overused.

Philip Yujin solo is possible but really reliant on abno set up heavily on earlier turn and you can't mess up the abno pick. also i think if i may give suggestion better take teddy instead match ego, because teddy will discard enemy card entirely (e.g 3 dice laser)

Will try your guide because i couldn't find any other that simple to follow. Thankss

I playing The Essemble receptions now and after completing all of Lower floors page lock is removed and you can pick again same Pages for Middle floor (Gebura, Tiphereth, Chesed). I think it will be same for Upper floors (Binah and Hokma). But this guide helped me a lot to beat the first battles of Blue Crew so thank you!

(2/2) The new additions in terms of pages from the recent update are also extremely powerful. This will probably be fixed very soon but with Bayard you can set up all of your dice, *then* use the On Play immobilize page and your attacks will still actually play but you get the boost from the immobilize page. There is also the +2 Pierce power passive that while it has drawbacks aren't meaningful considering Pierce is probably the most stacked attack type in the game, there is also the Insurance girl who can use Hanafuda's passives and runs a discard deck of Impugnatio and Brace Up with her exclusive to constantly trigger groupwide light regen. Udjat as a group all together can spam out that much protection with the right build that you can effectively take zero damage.
All in all the new pages and their respective combat pages should give way more options to you, especially since the combat pages in general are insanely powerful.
snek  [author] 24 May, 2021 @ 6:53am
(1/2) I believe it could still work, using the abno page that gives power based on speed difference and targeting a dice much slower with a mass attack it should still get a power boost I believe. The new abno page that gives Str when you have status ailments depends on what if looks for to provide the boost. Violence can also be useful by upping your roll ranges overall.

The weaken resistance from Dark Flame shouldn't matter too much, the goal is to get enough power to kill every Worshipper with mass attacks all at once, which instantly stuns Eileen before she can even act, by the time you get Dark Flame you should have the setup ready to blitz each wave down every turn. If the changes actually massively mess with the strategy I'll look into it but I don't think it should be too major.
Sarmenti 23 May, 2021 @ 3:27pm
Would Yesod still work, given how dark flame got reworked to instead weaken resistance for power rather than give strength depending on the number of dead allies?
Hatate 18 May, 2021 @ 4:13pm
Not sure if it's too important, but I can confirm that the Pluto strategy works as of 5/18/21, and doesn't even require completing the realization
snek  [author] 12 May, 2021 @ 10:14am
For a few of them I could fit it onto the small passive list included on the card menu (i.e. Chesed, Netzach and Tiph where possible) since the lists are generally not long to keep with classic lock rules. Otherwise there were no passives included at all

Binah I included the passives for herself and her assistants as a list since that strategy was provided by that video made by po po.
Hatate 12 May, 2021 @ 9:20am
Hey, I think the Binah, Chesed, Tiphereth, and Netzach rosters are missing some of the pics that show the attributed passives, any chance of adding those?
snek  [author] 11 Apr, 2021 @ 6:49am
You mean doing these fights with blue crew pages included? I'd imagine that would make this definitely easier (especially if you have the refight cards) since you get 10 more Objets. You could at that point go with a full team setup on Yesod's floor since you now have the resources to do so, I'd imagine a setup like Argalia, Eileen, Olivier, Philip and Tanya would be used in that case? Argalia struggles with soloing as a page since it means you have to use pages other than Vibration inducing ones.
UnknownPlayer 10 Apr, 2021 @ 3:37pm
snek is there a way of doing it with argalia
