Tribble Trouble

Beskrivelse


Tribbles are small, docile, useless creatures that reproduce asexually. They will arrive at your colony in a silent event. Keep watch and exterminate them immediately before they devour the map.

Tribbles eat continuously and multiply exponentially. All tribbles are capable of using doors, and will dig their way out if walled in. Tame tribbles will ignore zone restrictions and use forbidden things.

Tribbles will only willingly leave the map once every last bit of accessible food has been devoured. They will not dig their way IN to food if the food is walled with no accessible doors.

There is an option to notify you when an infestation starts. This is disabled by default.

Safe to add mid-game, removing it may cause problems. Requires Harmony.

Tips
  • Individual tribbles are safe and easy to kill. Passive and fragile, they do very little damage and won't scratch or bite.
  • You have about 3 days to notice and start killing tribbles before they reach unmanageable numbers.
  • Tribbles will dig out, but not in.
  • Starving tribbles don't all leave at the same time. Watch out for stragglers!
  • In addition to randomly spawning, tribbles can spawn in ancient dangers, stow away on passing trade ships and hide on falling ship chunks. All of these events share a cooldown.
  • Tribbles have simplified AI to reduce lag, but WILL still lag if an infestation gets out of control.

Fun Facts
  • Tribbles are little furballs and can be butchered for leather, but not for meat. Accordingly, predators will not hunt them.
  • Tribbles will ignore mental states to continue eating.
  • Assuming a year round growing season, the stable carrying capacity of a temperate forest is about 90 tribbles during the growing season. Arid shrublands stabilize around 30 tribbles.

Yep, it's intended. I stripped out as much as I could from the tribbles, both to reduce lag when there's a ton, and to make them more annoying to deal with :D
