The night is young my dear

Anemoia

Happy new year everyone!

I hope you had great end of the year, and an even better start of it. I sure enjoyed my holidays and have casually been working on some skins. I am happy to show you the new Desert Eagle Anemoia today. Just like its predecessors this design features a scenery that is supposed to convey a story of 2 soldiers treading unknown land to retrieve a care package. I hope you are not yet tired of this series because I really enjoy making them! :)

Work Process

The work process of Anemoia skins are getting more and more streamlined. I start out with a gradient base which I tweak to the dimensions of the weapon. For this particular weapon it was a bit more annoying because of the geometry underneath the hammer. The desert eagle as a whole is a bit finnecky to work with. After I had finished my Oxide Blaze I said that I would never touch the deagle again, but guess I did anyways.

After I finished the base I checked the model in Substance Painter and realized that there were some small issues. I decompiled the in-game model to see if that one worked better and it did. I reapplied the gradient and started working on the colour balance. On the pistols this is a whole lot easier as pretty much all of the weapon is painted. I cancelled out the AO, and went to work on the drawings.

Above you can see that the drawings were projected quite easily, however I had some resolution issues and it just seemed a little off. I reprojected and drew some of the stuff in photoshop on the UV sheet which made it a lot better. I added some more mountains to the right and front, patched up the grass, and added some small decals.

As I was testing the skin in-game the grip seemed rather odd, as it had no more texture because I cancelled the AO. I decided to have a bit of the AO shine through to give some material definition to the grip again. After this change it seemed more natural and I moved on to the wear which was surprisingly easy. I decided to have the bolts be painted in factory new, however after that it wears off in MW. This way the FN has a little special something something over the minimal wear. Lastly I made some renders, took some images in-game, and then wrote this description.

Last Words

I hope you enjoy this submission, and hopefully one day you'll be able to use this in-game. 2021 is a new year, with new oppertunities. Let's make it a great year!

Love,

Hollandje
