Still not enough FPS? Let's overclock!
By luccass-
People overclocked their CPUs but often forgot or don't know RAM speed matters too. It is very easy. Check it out!

Introduction
I decided to share my experience how to achieve more FPS* in CS:GO. Because CS is a CPU intensive game, especially at low resolution like PROs use to use (1280x960 or lower) we will focus on CPU and yes, also on RAM.
If you already have overclocked your CPU, please go ahead to overclock your RAM.
You can gain some FPS.

*note FPS means frames per seconds
CPU Overclock
It may be kind of risky, but don’t worry. You need to have a good cooler, not stock! If your CPU temperatures are lower than 70 °C you are absolutely safe.

If something goes wrong make sure you have backup of your last BIOS profile. The most mainboard has this feature by default. Also, you can clear CMOS - refer to your motherboard manual.

Ok so let’s overclock CPU.

First you need to enter to your BIOS. Typical by pressing DEL key during PC boot.
It is recommended to start with loaded defaults settings.

Then locate CPU voltage control and set it to little more than default value.
In this case go to Advanced Voltage Settings / CPU Core Voltage Control / CPU Vcore.
I did a research and I set my value for i5 6600K which is known as Skylake strait to 1.3 V.
Use numpad to enter values.

Next go to multiplier and set it to 45.
My motherboard calls it CPU Clock Ratio located in Advanced Frequency Settings.

So now I am running at 4.5 GHz stable which is the sweet spot for this CPU.

Hit F10 to save your setting.

Try to boot into Windows and do some CPU intensive tests on all cores.
You should be careful and repeat this process by little steps. Especially if you are new to overclocking.

Now you can compare your results.
RAM Overclock
As I said earlier, you can achieve a little more FPS by overclocking your RAM. It will help to your CPU a little. Probably you are running with DDR4. Default voltage for DDR4 is 1.2 V. Overclocking your memory is much safe than overclocking your CPU. It doesn't add much more heat and it is very easy.

Again, you should do this by little steps. But you can be tricky and set DDR voltage to 1.3 V as start value. For my HyperX Fury 2400 MHz at default, I try 2666, 2800 and 3200 MHz with 1.3 V.

In this case go to DRAM Voltage Control under Advanced Voltage Settings and locate DRAM Voltage (CH A/B).

Next step is to change System Memory Multiplier under Advanced Memory Settings. If your memory speed is 2400 MHz, try to set value 26. It gives you 2600 MHz.

Make sure you have disabled Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.).

I am running extremely stable at 1.32 V and 3200 MHz. Here we are not going to change any memory timings, but as you can see in the chart below, there is a way.

By the way, it is recommended to put your RAMs into slot 1 and slot 3 to have the best compatibility with your motherboard and you can run in dual channel mode. It is also better to have KIT of RAM which means two paired modules from factory.

Finally, you can go higher with two memory modules then with four modules running in dual channel.

Thank you for reading and good luck. I hope it helps you.
