This is set after my SU + COF fanfic, after the alternative ending where Steven dies.

No idea where lapiz is at all

Steven was dead, he died on that hospital bed as his fears bombarded his mind.

The last thing they saw of him was him being gunned down by Uneven.

Once Uneven killed Steven, his gem faded from white to grey and all bodily activity ceased, the autopsy after his death showed extreme organ trauma, as if he had been actually shot.

At this point, the funeral had just finished and the gems had just got home.

Pearl sits down, crying, just thinking about Steven was enough to remind her of all the good times they had.

Not only was Steven dead, but pink diamond clearly wasn't coming back too.

Stevens gem somehow just died, no activity at all, Pearl knew this meant that pink diamond was gone too.

The gems were all upset; Steven, the one who helped them save earth so many times, the child that they grew to know and love, a part of the family, he was gone.

Deep down, Pearl couldn't accept that he was truly gone, it didn't make sense to her.

Deep inside, she felt as if Steven was somehow still alive despite him clearly being gone, she couldn't accept that he was gone.

Garnet sat down next to Pearl and started to talk to her.

Garnet says to Pearl "Pearl, I know its hard to accept that hes gone"

Pearl, still crying, replies to Garnet "I-It d-doesn't make any sense..."

Garnet replies to Pearl "There was nothing we could do, its ok"

Garnet hugs Pearl to try and calm her down, but instead she just cries more.

Garnet then tells Pearl that "its going to be ok", Pearl tries to reply but can't through the tears; she misses Steven too much to even form a sentence.

After 2 days, Pearl and the other gems are still upset about Stevens death.

The stress from Steven's death was so great that Stevens father Greg decided to take a short vacation to get away from the stress, not telling anyone when he would be back, only that he needed to leave to clear his head.

After Greg left, the gems stayed to keep an eye on the house.

The following day, Pearl, still sad and denying Stevens death, was sitting in the main room when she started to hear something odd, She heard a voice calling her that sounded familiar.

Pearl listened closer to the voice, it sounded like Stevens voice but a distance away in another room, it sounded like it was coming from Stevens room.

Pearl quickly ran to investigate the source of the sound, ran into Stevens room and looked around; only to see nothing, no Steven.

Garnet who was up stairs, hearing the commotion decided to come down and investigate.

Garnet walked into Stevens room which was open and found Pearl, Pearl was looking around the room, baffled.

Garnet asked Pearl why she was in Stevens room.

Pearl; starting to tear up again, replies "I-I heard him c-call me"

Garnet approached Pearl and held her as she started to cry again.

Garnet then said to Pearl "I know its hard to accept that hes gone, but we need to start moving on"

Pearls tears overwhelmed her, she still could not accept that he was gone.

As the week progressed; it happened multiple times; Pearl would hear what she thought was Stevens voice calling her and search for him; the voice only becoming clearer and louder to her as she continued to search for him, calling for him while she searched.

After a while, she started to hallucinate Steven in the corners of her peripheral vision.

Each and every time, Garnet or Amethyst would need to remind her that Steven wasn't coming back.

As it continued into the second week, Pearl started to get angry with the voice and hallucinations.

Pearl started kicking open doors, calling to him with anger in her voice, she was getting tired of this.

Her friends Garnet and Amethyst tried to calm her down, but it did very little, all pearl did was start crying again or explaining how "she felt he was still alive somehow".

They could see how much pain she was in, she was going through the 5 stages of grief and they needed to help her.

The anger stage lasted most of the next week, Pearl becoming more and more enraged with every search, shouting and demanding that Steven show himself, becoming more heavy handed in her searching too; lifting up beds, moving furniture and even breaking a hole in a wall at one point to see if he was hidden inside.

After breaking a hole in the wall, Garnet approached her, grabbed her, shook her to snap her out of it and shouted at her "STEVEN IS GONE PEARL, PLEASE STOP THIS"

At this point, Pearl was too angry to care, she just pushed garnet away and stormed off.

After a few more days of this, pearls anger faded into desperation over the next week, her calls for Steven becoming slower, having less energy, as if she was losing hope.

Garnet noticed this and eventually approached her, trying to reassure her, to let her know everything was going to be ok.

As they talked about how she felt, Garnet noticed just how hopeless Pearl was, she was entering the 4th stage, depression.

At this point, Pearl had given up on looking for him, she started to feel worse and worse as time progressed.

Then after about of 3 weeks of Garnet and Amethyst checking on their now depressed friend, they noticed that she wasn't progressing into the 5th stage or getting any better, in fact she was only getting worse and worse.

Garnet eventually managed to get Pearl to talk to her, to which Pearl expressed something that concerned Garnet.

Pearl explained that she felt as if she had nothing left to live for, With Steven gone and no chance of Pink diamond coming back, she had lost the 2 people she cared the most about.

Garnet understood this, she was 2 gems as one, if one was gone, the other would have no meaning and feel as if they had no reason to exist.

Pearl understood this but still felt as if life had no meaning left, she had her friends but what else?

With Steven and Pink Diamond gone, she felt just like Ruby or sapphire would, she felt as if she had nothing left.

Garnet and Amethyst tried their best to help pull her out of her depression, but it only got worse with time.

After 2 more weeks, Pearl had finale lost all will to live and started to think about what to do about it.

It all seemed so unfair to her, Steven was gone, Pink Diamond was gone too, now she just wanted some peace.

She considered shattering herself but something felt wrong,she felt something deep inside her that was unsettled.

Something was missing, she needed to do something to make her death "worth it".

Then... she had an idea, some of the people of beach city missed Steven, but most didn't even know him, most if not nobody around her had felt like this, the other gems moved on reasonably quickly, but she was still stuck in this agony.

That is when the sickening seeds of a cruel idea started to form in her mind, "why not make them feel like I do? I won't be around after anyway so I won't need to care"

Pearl usually hated the idea of hurting innocent people, but she no longer cared, as far as she was concerned it was necessary.

Pearl then decided that, since she had lost the ones she loved the most, she would do that to as many as she could, she wanted people to suffer, to know what true suffering is.

Pearl thought for a moment and decided on the perfect target, the local school, it was the perfect opportunity to inflict the agony she desired to bring, full of innocent targets, all which had loving parents who would feel her pain.

Pearl decided to progress with her plan but she decided to at least look the part and put in a bit of effort.

Knowing the history and culture of humans, Pearl sneaked out to a clothing store later at night and purchased A black trench coat, a fedora and a black pair of sunglasses.

Upon arriving back, pearl prepared her suicide note that would explain what she was about to do and stored it in her gem, she would leave it as she left tomorrow to explain what she she was about to do.

The next day, pearl had hid all 3 clothing items in her gem and hid herself away, waiting for the right time to start her plan.

She waited till 10am, all the kids would be in school and she could do as much damage as possible.

Pearl then went into the bathroom and waited for a clear path directly to the car.

She waited for 20 minutes till it was clear to make a straight dash for the car.

once it was clear, Pearl emerged from the bathroom, wearing her trench coat, fedora and sun glasses, carrying a shotgun she kept hidden in her gem.

On the way out, pearl placed her suicide note on the table.

She made her way down to the car, pulled out a pair of car keys from her gem, started the engine and drove towards the school.

Pearl was 2/3 the way to the school when garnet at home had found the note, Garnet read the note and was horrified by what pearl was planning to do.

Garnet immediately started running towards the school, she couldn't let pearl do this.

Pearl arrived at the school, got out of the car and walked in, her shotgun loaded and ready.

Pearl looked at one of the classrooms and walked over to the door, looking inside via a window on the door at her pool of potential victims.

She readied her gun until she saw one of the kids, the kid looked like Steven when he was younger.

Pearl immediately recoiled with regret, a part of her thinking that it was Steven.

Tears ran down Pearls face, she couldn't do it.

She turned around and ran back out of the school, got in the car, put the gun away, closed the door and started to cry.

Just then, Garnet showed up and saw her in the car, thinking that she had just pulled up.

Garnet ran over, Opened the car door and pulled Pearl out, holding her in her grip.

"Pearl, please, don't do this" she asked Pearl.

Pearl replied "I couldn't do it, I can't hurt them"

Garnet shook Pearl and prepared to shout at her but stopped, she was confused by what pearl had said.

Garnet replied "w-what do you mean you couldn't?"

Pearl replied "I couldn't do it, I saw them, I saw him, I can't hurt him like this".

Garnet replies "so, your telling me you walked in there with a gun, and decided not to do it because?"

Pearl replied "I couldn't hurt Steven, I can't hurt them, like this, he wouldn't want this"

Garnet replied "Pearl, you need help, I'm glad you didn't hurt anyone but its clear you need help if you feel this bad"

Pearl replied "I'm sorry, im so sorry" as she started to cry again.

Garnet held Pearl, she had been twisted by her pain, she needed help, but at least she had the conscience to change her mind and not kill many innocent children.

After that, Pearl later booked an emergency psychiatrist visit to Connie's Mother.

Then Pearl decided to see a psychiatrist regularly to prevent herself from relapsing and started seeing Connie's Mother one every month to help keep her sane and come to terms with Steven's and Rose's death.

After 5 years of regular psychiatrist visits, pearl manged to come to terms fully with Steven's and Rose's death and resumed her usual activities, but Pearl was now on medication to help prevent her from potentially relapsing and to keep her from hallucinating.

The medication didn't stop the hallucinations entirely, but they helped keep her sane at least.

The medication also had another effect, the hallucinations were no longer Steven related, it was mainly just hearing odd sounds or seeing figures that didn't exist at this point.

Steven was intended to come back as a half plant zombie, but it didn't fit in well so he was removed.
