Hi TUS Celerity,
One thing I did not point out in the description or video it that I used the same TMPE lane connection setup for both of the traffic levels I recorded. This can make it look like there is unnecessary lane switching when traffic is merging as it can look like traffic is switching lanes to make way for traffic that does not exist at that traffic level.
Another thing is that I completely prevented traffic from switching lanes before it reaches an intersection, otherwise some traffic will always wait until the last possible moment to get into the correct lane. So lane switching only happens when lanes merge.
Finally, yes, it's possible that on a few of the intersections I don't have the absolute optimal TMPE lane setup, but I did test multiple configurations for each intersection and I went with the best I could see. Really, I should have recorded the TMPE setup I used for each one so that it would be easy for people to propose alternatives, ah well, next time..

Hi me22ca, my test city has 4 outside connections, but that's not where the bulk of my traffic comes from, I have multiple small residential, commercial and industry areas on the edge of my test map, and I try to give traffic a reason to use the central intersection. This is a bit of a balancing act which can result in some routes being underused, but I got to a point where any improvements I made just made other routes worse, so I went with it. So I think I got it as good as could be expected without having some kind of universal traffic generator/consumer mod.

Id try and make sure all the traffic manager stuff was working before recording, there was alot of unnesecary lane changing and the way the lanes were setup on some was wrong

Hmm, did you have more than 4 outside connections, Rich? I don't remember whether Unlimited Outside Connections can actually give more dummy traffic. (If it's just the default 4 connections, that would be a good reason for some of the connections to be underused...)

Thanks Wolfdog. :steamhappy:
Yes indeed, the traffic patterns are a bit forced, with some lanes only being lightly used and others being overloaded. This mainly happens because I use TMPE to prevent vehicles from switching lanes near the intersections. This almost always gives better overall traffic flow than the alternative, because without disallowing lane switching, some traffic will leave it late to get into their desired lane which eventually has the effect of bottlenecking all of the lanes.

wow, that was awesome. thanks. couldnt help but notice the traffic patterns for the game seem a little biased. most traffic would turn left and take the next exit or on some of the intersections traffic would ignore the outside empty lane and queue for no reason.
