Map Maker's Marks

Beskrivelse
*** ATTENTION: Map Makers! ***

We all know that tracking down all those pesky little bugs, errors, flaws, quirks, etc. can be tricky business. Having to open your map in the game engine, find one, remember where it is, close your game, reopen your map in the map editor, fix whatever, and repeat, can be an arduous chore. Or maybe you're looking for such things and you have come up with a great idea but don't want to forget what it is.

Perhaps you have sticky notes stuck all around on your monitor or some other method to help with this task. Wouldn't it be nice if there were an in-game tool to help?

NOW, there is!!! Introducing Map Maker's Marks (M3 for short).

Use is simple:

  1. Create your map in the map editor (or any portion thereof)
  2. Open your map as a new game
  3. Go around your map finding:
    • Errors
    • Things in need of tweaking
    • Things you may want to change
    • Brilliant new ideas
    • Etc...
  4. Place one of the included marks at said location and name it* for what you want to do there
  5. SAVE YOUR MARKS!* (This is important)
  6. Close your game and re-open your map in the map editor
  7. Load your marks*
  8. Using the little arrow button on the right of the mark, go through each mark and make the edits you need to
  9. Delete each mark as you go through them using the [X] button on each mark*
  10. When finished, make sure there are no marks left and save your map
  11. You're done! What a beautiful map!

*Additional information
  • When saving your marks, you have the option to append, overwrite, and save a new file. If you want to add the loaded marks to an existing file, click on the [Append] button, if you want to replace the marks in an already saved file, click the [Overwrite] button. If you just want to save a new file, type a new filename in the text box and click the [Save] button.
  • When loading marks, there are two options: Replace and Append. If you have no marks put down, it matters not which you choose. However, if you want to load a set of marks and keep your existing marks, click [Append]. If you'd like to delete the current marks and load the new ones, click [Replace].
  • You can easily delete any save file from either the Load or Save screen. Just click [Delete] next to the file you wish to delete.
  • There is a [Clear All] button at the bottom of the that will clear all marks on the map.
  • To name a mark: click on the mark itself. In the popup, click on the name field at the top. Type your descriptive name in the text field. Remember, once in the map editor, you cannot see this name anywhere EXCEPT in my mod so make it descriptive enough that you know what you wanted to do.
  • My marks are buildings found in the electricity tab. There are 8 to choose from: Arrow, Asterisk, Dash, Equal sign, Exclamation mark, Plus sign, Question mark, and an X.
  • BonBonB may not have as much to say about your map BUT might rate it higher!
  • Yes, I misspelled Exclamation.

Useful mods that work well with this one
(you probably already have them anyway though)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Thank you, and don't forget to rate and comment!

I use a mac, and the saved marks file is not saved in the correct directory. It is saved as a FILE called Cities_Skylines\ModConfig\M3Saves\MyMarks.marks INSTEAD OF in the DIRECTORY called Cities_Skylines\ModConfig\M3Saves. Load only works for me when I move into the correct directory, and rename the file :) Hope that makes sense mate. Cheers from downunder :)

Really like this mod and have used it extensively on the new map I have been creating. My first markup had 364 items. I have one problem. When I open the table the bottom is cut off so I can't see the control buttons. Eventually I get it to move by using Control button and dragging it many times. Any ideas? I am still going to use it.
