Introduction to Endgame Vanity (Cosmetic) Items
Welcome to a guide (aka a slideshow) on the Endgame Vanity (Cosmetic) Items in Hades!

Please note that some people may consider knowledge of the endgame vanity (cosmetic) items to be spoilers, so if you consider them to be--you have been warned! Turn back now!

By the way, make sure to check out one of my other guides, which may be of interest to you!

Hades 1.0 Endgame FAQ/Guide
https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2232655399
What are the Endgame Vanity Items? How do I get them?
Note: I am spoiler'ing this section just in case.

First Set of Vanity Items (HP-bar "badges"): You can start to acquire them after completing the game. This means getting to the credits. If you have not seen the credits roll, you have not beat the game yet! For more info about what constitutes "beating the game" (and other common endgame FAQ), please refer to my other guide:

https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2232655399

To acquire badges, talk to the new shade-y NPC (whose proper title is the "Resource Director") who shows up in Hades' Chambers in the House of Hades. More info on how to have him show up is also addressed in my guide above; look for the "shade-y question".

You need to trade in resources to him to advance your badge. The requirements will be listed next to each badge in this guide; it always requires some amount of Darkness, plus a set number of other resources (Chthonic Keys, Nectar, Diamonds, Ambrosia, or Titan Blood).

Second Set of Vanity Items (User Interface/UI themes): These UI themes will change how your boon window looks (when you open up the left-side table to look at your boons in the middle of a run), as well as the Victory Screen window when you successfully complete a run.

You can start to acquire them from the House Contractor (the shades who sit next to Hades and Orpheus) under "Work Orders", after a set requirement.

Here are the requirements to unlock (all of) the UI themes (that is, all 6 themes will be available for purchase at once):

  • Purchase all of the in-game run upgrades (e.g. Dark Thirst gives +20% Gemstones, Darkness gives +5 Life, Nectar gives you a random Pom, etc.).
  • Spend at least 5000 Gemstones overall (note: no known way of tracking how many Gemstones you've spent in total, but this is a fairly straightforward requirement if you play enough!)
  • Spend at least 30 Titan Blood overall (unlocking Weapon Aspects)
  • Accumulate at least 15,000 Darkness overall (you can check how much Darkness you've acquired in total, by going to the Main Menu where you select your Save File--it tells you lifetime Darkness accumulation!)

Note: The usage of Spoiler Tags end here. This is your last call to turn back, lest you see the new vanity items and have the info spoiled (if you care)!
HP Bar Badges (Part 1: Information)
The Resource Director will allow you to upgrade your badge once per run (once per respawn in the House of Hades), provided you have the requisite amount of resources to upgrade your badge.

There are 50 Badges total, split into 10 Tiers, with 5 Ranks per Tier. Once you purchase the next badge, you cannot "revert" your badge to a previous badge.

The Ranks within each Tier are (from lowest to highest):
  • Alpha
  • Gamma
  • Delta
  • Sigma
  • Unseen

The Tiers are (from lowest to highest):
  • Warden
  • Fixer
  • Agent
  • Cleaner
  • Shadow
  • Dusk
  • Wraith
  • Overseer
  • Specter
  • One

The name of each badge is in the format: "(Rank) (Tier)", e.g., "Alpha Warden", followed by "Gamma Warden", ..., followed by "Unseen Warden", followed by "Alpha Fixer", etc.
HP Bar Badges (Part 2A: Pictures)
  • "Resources Required to Purchase" means how much it costs to upgrade from the previous badge to the current badge.
  • "Total Resources Required to Purchase" means how much it costs to upgrade from no badge to the current badge.

HP Bar Badges (Part 3: Post Final Badge Completion Dialogue)
There's a bit of dialogue after you get the last badge. Spoiler tags are back in effect for this section!

Warning: spoilers ahead for screenshots of dialogue after you get the final badge!

(In case you're wondering--of course, the save file used to obtain the vanity items is modded, for the sake of showing off the end-game vanity items!)

UI Themes (Part 1: Introduction)
The House Contractor will have User Interface (UI) themes for sale after unlocking all other work orders (i.e. chamber upgrades, buffs, run upgrades are work orders--cosmetic items for the House like rugs, tables, or sheet music, are not work orders) that the House Contractor has to offer.

The UI themes only change a few aspects of your UI:
  • The border of the "Boon Window" (on the left-hand side of your screen; remember that you can open up your Boon Window in the middle of a run to check your boons!)
  • The border of the "Victory" information screen (on the right-hand side of the screen in the post-run summary after defeating Hades).
  • The border of the active Pact of Punishment/Mirror of Night modifiers (located at the top of your screen in the post-run summary after defeating Hades).
  • An additional flair border at the bottom of the middle of the boons/post-run summary screen (look just to the right of your HP bar when the boons screen/post-run summary is open)

The following section provides a screenshot of each theme at the final victory screen after defeating Hades, as that will show all of the UI theme changes at once.
UI Themes (Part 2: Pictures)
Note: in case you are wondering, all the runs shown to get to these victory screens were legitimate (speed)runs, no external assistance!

As you can see, the Aspect of Nemesis is quite good for speedy runs and I tried to highlight the "main part" of each build that I was offered in the featured boons section.

Also, in case you are wondering: I ran this at 1 heat (instead of 0 heat) because I always have Tight Deadline on when playing normally, and not seeing a red timer in the bottom left-hand side of my screen was a bit weird, so I put on Tight Deadline 1 just to have the comfort of a familiar red timer! :)

Conclusion
That's it! Hope you enjoyed taking a look at all of the Endgame Vanity Items that Hades offers.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember the #1 tip for progressing in Hades:

When stuck, just keep doing runs, keep talking/gifting to characters, and (have some) good luck!

Thank you for putting it all together. It's nice to see what these unlockables are for curiousity's sake at least.
These ranks though... I'm sure some people would have gotten them legitimately through many runs but I shudder to even think how many runs that would be.

@Below: Guide updated. I forgot to update that a long time ago, thanks for the note. It's fairly simple (as far as I recall)--you simply need to complete all other work orders available from the House Contractor.

"As mentioned in a prior section, the exact requirements are kept under wraps for a while (target info release date: October 1, 2020, or earlier!), by request."

Okay, can you tell us now?
