What is Mouse Acceleration and why should I disable it?
Mouse Acceleration is a setting that is enabled by default in most operating systems. Essentially, what it does is register your mouse as moving further whenever you move it quickly.

This can throw off your aim in tense situations where you jerk your mouse around a lot, since it makes you aim more than you need to. Some people have reported luck using custom mouse acceleration programs, but I personally recommend completely disabling it on any computer that you intend to play Team Fortress 2 on.
Disabling Mouse Acceleration on Windows 10
Put "mouse settings" in the search bar and hit enter.

On the window that pops up, scroll all the way down and click on "additional mouse options".

A second window will open. Click on the tab that says "Pointer Options".

Make sure the option for "Enhance pointer precision" is unchecked.

Mouse Acceleration is now disabled.
Disabling Mouse Acceleration on Windows 7
Open the start menu and open the Control Panel.

In Control Panel, enter "mouse" in the search bar, and click on the result that says "Change Mouse Settings".

A second window will open. Click the tab that says "Pointer Options".

Make sure that the option for "Enhance pointer precision" is unchecked.

Mouse Acceleration is now disabled.
Disabling Mouse Acceleration on macOS
Open the terminal.

In the terminal, type the command "defaults write -g com.apple.mouse.scaling -1" and hit enter.

Mouse Acceleration is now disabled.
Disabling Mouse Acceleration on Ubuntu
Changing Mouse Acceleration settings requires the Gnome Tweaks utility.

To install it, open the Terminal. (Ctrl+Alt+T)

Type in "sudo apt install gnome-tweaks" and hit enter.

The Gnome Tweaks utility should now be installed.

Now open it by searching for "tweaks" in the activities menu.

On the new window that opens, go into "Keyboard & Mouse".

Change the "Mouse Acceleration Profile" setting to Flat.

Mouse Acceleration is now disabled.
