Of course, my favorite being Puzzle Agent (which arguably works a little differently, but so do most modern adventures!)!

You are aware of the fact that there is a LOT of good adventures recently, like the Deponia Series, The dark eye: chains of satinav, pretty much everything from Telltale...? :)
