Rift S How To Enable Smooth Turning- July 2020
By BiovizierMantrid
I can confirm the following 'mod' works for Rift S SMOOTH TURNING in July of 2020, no further mods needed. First, for the built-in update that includes smooth locomotion, you must NOT be running a beta version of the game (right click on the game in your library list, go to betas tab and opt out). Some older mods for smooth locomotion required running a beta version; now you don't want that, as it is included in the Steam build. Now, run the game, pause it and make the following changes in the console. Then go into controller bindings while in the headset (left hand menu button) and choose the community made binding mentioned below (see my note about this at the end here). Turning with the grip buttons is a bit weird at first, but it works well. So do all of what it says below. Good Luck ... DOOM VFR (How to enable Smooth Turning)
Tips & Tricks
Hi there! With DOOM Eternal coming up, I just wanted to let you guys know that I figured out how to enable smooth turning in DOOM VFR. After the latest update it runs a lot better on Oculus, but since there isn't any snap/smooth turn in the game, you can get tangled up real quick.

In order to enable Smooth Turn (I don't know how to make it snap turn, sorry), do the following

Press the tilde ( ~ ) key to open the console

Use these commands EXACTLY, including the quotation marks:

bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_A "_lookright"
**Hit enter**

bind STEAMVR_SECONDARY_A " _lookleft"
**Hit enter**

**hit ~ again to exit console**

Make sure you make it to the next savepoint in the game in order for it to save your bindings.

Rip and tear

This will bind your turn right and left to your A and X buttons on your Touch controllers. It may be a bit difficult to turn while running however, so I also created a Community Workshop controller binding called "DOOM VFR Snap Turn on Grips" that rebinds the Shield Burst to X, the Weapon Mod to A, and lets the grips turn you left and right (so it's easier to pull off those sweet 180 moves). I hope you guys have as much fun with this game as I did!! Go make some demons cry

<--- **END QUOTE***

I'm not sure if you have to do the console commands AND use the custom binding, but that's what I did. It works, and I'm tired of messing with this; I just want to play the game already!

ANNNND... the game is pretty good now, eh? Combo moves where you run around and soften up the demons, then quickly teleport smash them feels really nice. I think I'll go play some more now. It's a shame stick turn isn't included in the game, but oh well. For DOOM, I'll take it. Anything for DOOM...

This talks about enabling smooth turning but I can't even get any sound nor the touch controllers to work properly. Like, the triggers work and the right stick's directions work but only when pressed in. Nothing else. Can't even point at menus with the controllers.
